Here's the back story in case it helps... I upgraded windows 7 to windows 10, had many performance issues with windows 10 and reinstalled windows 7. After the reinstall, I tried to download mozilla firefox again and install the browser. When I try to run the setup file for firefox I get a message that reads: "This publisher has been blocked from running software on your machine." The only option is to click "OK". There is no way to ignore the security warning and proceed with the install. I have had no trouble installing any other software (IE and Chrome included). I have tried starting windows in safe mode, but I still get the same warning. I do have administrator privileges while running the setup. I have found other forums addressing similar issues, but have not found a solution for my specific case yet. I have attached a screen capture of the security warning window so you can see there is no way to proceed. If I click the windows help link, it goes nowhere.
Why is your link for English (British) on the localized versions page giving me 43.0.1 and not 44.0?

Using Windows 7. I have been running firefox for years. 3 weeks ago firefox wouldn't connect to the internet. Tab was saying 'forbinder...' in danish, that would translate into 'connecting...'. Nothing happened. No matter which website I tried to access, or which tab. Other browsers worked fine. I assumed an automatic update had gone wrong. I uninstalled, and got a fresh Firefox. It worked, and it had kept all my settings. Then some time after, I had the same issue. Could not connect. I used windows uninstall and installed a new copy. Worked. But then it happened again. Forth time around I decided to get rid of the mess. I used windows 'remove program'. I deleted the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox, the %APPDATA% roaming profile data also. And then did a fresh install. However, I am back to my old problem. I can't get thorugh to the internet. It is saying 'connecting', no matter which tab or website I use..
I found an issue related to an Nvidia firewall - I don't have that but other Nvidia software. I updated all to latest. Didn't work. I checked proxy settings, changed from system default to 'no proxy'. Checked if other browsers had different settings, which they didn't. So it didn't work. Then I tried messing with the Windows firewall, which is the only one running. When it didn't succeed I deleted firefox as recommended, to let it selfdefine at next startup. But windows firewall is apparantly not triggeded by firefox starting.
Help, please ;-)
Thank Flemming

Frequently, almost daily, Tags I've assigned to Bookmarks disappear from my list of Tags. I have quite a long list of Tags under different Tag categories. (I hope I'm using the correct terminology here.)
What happens is a Tag categories will disappear from the list of other Tag categories. They I must go to one of the Bookmarks that I know is under a specific Tag category. They I select the properties for that Bookmark. It will show it is check marked under a Tag category, though the Tag category is not accessible (missing). I remove the check mark and save the properties page for that Bookmark. I immediately turn around and re-check the Tag category, they go to the top of the window where the list of Tag categories appears. The missing Tag category will now re-appear, along with any other Bookmarks that were checked in the properties section to be shown under that Tag category.
This is obviously a "bug" and I would hope that this will soon be fixed, since it is time consuming to go through the process above as a work-a-round.

My computer has two disks: A solid-state disk C: to hold the OS and critical apps, and a larger hard drive D: for my user files and less-critical apps.
I had Firefox installed and working. Then I ran into a permissions problem that I can only call cancerous: files I copied over from my old computer (via an external HD) had permissions that didn't allow writing in the directories; I couldn't even delete them when logged in as admin. So I reformatted D: and copied the files again (using a different method). As soon as I had done so, I changed the permissions on D:\ so my non-admin user has "full control" on that disk. I still have a permissions problem but it's less severe. I'll deal with that in due time. (I hope)
But I had the Firefox executable stored on D:, so when I reformatted I lost Firefox -- executable and settings. Shouldn't be a problem, right? Just re-install and sync.
But I can't get Firefox to install! The installer (Firefox Setup Stub 48.0.1.exe) runs, I give it admin permission. It offers me "Upgrade" as an option. I click that and get a window that says "Downloading Firefox". When it's finished downloading, it exits without an error message, but I still don't have Firefox. Just a shortcut that doesn't work -- refers to a nonexistent file.
Hmm... I just looked at the properties on the shortcut, and the "Target" is "C:\Users\barry_2\AppData\Local\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
That can't be right, can it?

Hello,
I hope this is the right forum to ask this question. I have a plugin that I have created. (XPI file). I am looking to push to a few client machines and install the plugin silently. I have administrative rights on the machines. One way I tried to do this was to create a folder in the ...\browser\extensions folder and name it with the ID of the plugin. Then I extracted the contents of the XPI file. Then I restarted the browser and the plugin was installed. However, it is disabled. Is there any way to make the plugin enabled or will the user always have to manually enable it?
Thanks

I uninstalled Firefox (supposedly) "completely" using the guide here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/uninstall-firefox-from-your-computer
Why does the new install Firefox recognize that it was previously installed? Uninstall tool needs to uninstall Firefox COMPLETELY. Since it lies, can someone help tell me what is the appropriate steps for COMPLETE removal?

Hi,
I installed Firefox Nightly (56.0a1 (2017-07-22) (64-bit)) and enabled sync for bookmarks and passwords. Bookmarks were synced correctly, but not the passwords.
I can see a the file logins.json in my profile folder, with the logins content. But if I go to Preferences->Security->Saved Logins the list is empty. Also, logins form field are not auto filled.
None content was imported manually. Nightly somehow synced and downloaded the logins.json, but apparently it's not using it.
I already did this exact same process (reinstall in new machine + sync) without any problem, except for this time/version. May it be a bug?
I already tried some forum solutions: connect/reconnect account; delete signedInUser.json; restarting; etc. Everytime the logins.json is correctly fetched from the web with the content, or the bookmarks are synced correctly, but Nightly apparently is not 'using' the contents of this file.
Thank you,
Mario
