Philippe

Recently my tabs and tool bar color scheme all turned white. I have gone through Add Ons and Themes and changed/enabled the default, as well as other color themes. The tabs still don't appear properly. They all blend together, whereas previously I could see an outline for each tab. I then wanted to uninstall firefox and then install it again. The problem I am having is that when I go to install it (after downloading it again), it recognizes I previously had it installed and it only allows me to install it again with whatever is left behind from the previous install. My PW, History, Login, etc., are still present on the new install. My question..... How can I install FireFox and have it be complete new? I don't want any previous info on there. Something has messed with my application internally and I don't know how to isolate it and would prefer a completely fresh slate. I believe my PC is operating Windows 10. I have been using the same system and Firefox on this PC for 4 years now, without previous issues. Thank you.

I downloaded Firefox 89.0.1 via Microsoft Edge from the regular mozilla.org site.

I was redirected to this site after the download started: https://cdn.stubdownloader.services.mozilla.com/builds/firefox-stub/de/win/[...]/Firefox%20Installer.exe

I was confused when I saw, that the sha256 checksum mismatched with the one in the repository. Also after multiply downloads from the mentioned site, I recognized all installation files had different checksums.

Is this a bug or a malicious firefox download? Or smth else?

Thanks in advance.

Hi...for 3 days I've been unable to download anything from Hulu, Amazon Prime, Kanopy or Hoopla. Instead there's the message repeatedly about Firefox installing components to make it possible to download---anything. "Please try again later." I am not happy.

Hi,

I got a McAfee report on the first machine that I tried to deploy this file.

Firefox Setup 89.0.1.exe contains the GenericRXAA-AA!92712AE6AC5F Trojan. Undetermined clean error, OAS denied access and continued. Detected using Scan engine version 6200.9189 DAT version 10008.0000.

I scanned the file with on VirusTotal and verify the hash. It doesn't bring up anything.

Does someone know anything about this?

Thanks.

After a recent migration of everything from an old PC to a new one, the Firefox logo does not appear in any of the HTML file icons on my new computer. They are all blank.

It apparently a problem unique to Firefox, and only involves the display of the Firefox logo. Although the icon is blank, when it is clicked, the document is opened by Firefox.

If I right-click on a blank HTML document icon and select "Properties", to the right of "Opens with:" is the Firefox logo. If I then click "OK", the Firefox logo remains in the "Properties" window, but the icon remains blank.

If I click on "Change", select "Microsoft Edge" and click "OK", the "Microsoft Edge" logo appears to the right of "Opens with:", and the HTML document icon also displays the Microsoft Edge logo.

There is a similar result when I select "Google Chrome", "Internet Explorer", or even "Notepad". The corresponding logo appears in the HTML document icons.

Any and all suggestions are welcomed.

My old computer bricked itself. Hard drive, everything is toast. I have a new one but am wondering if there is a way to retrieve bookmarks, settings, etc. on a new Firefox install on the new computer, from my account perhaps? It seems to me that the last time I lost a computer and had to start over with Firefox on a new one everything reinstalled. I'm just about nonfunctional without all my stuff!

Under an "about:profiles" profile, selecting the "Open Directory" button opens my Linux "Document Viewer" with an "Unable…" warning; expected because that's not what Document Viewer is for.

This could be exactly as predicted in my preferences, but I didn't find any means to redirect that button action at a different helper. I expected it to routinely use my default file manager application and this was a surprise. All I could find searching for the issue focuses on URLs which isn't my problem; I can enter (or copy/paste) the displayed path beside that button okay as "file:///…," so I can call that the workaround.

How is this button action set? Is it a simple thing buried somewhere in the settings?

My old computer crashed but I have access to the entire hard drive on my new laptop. I'd like to restore Firefox on the new laptop exactly as it was on the old laptop (bookmarks, tabs, etc.). All of the help articles talk about restoring from a backup, but I never made a backup since I obviously didn't know my computer was going to crash. Which files do I need to access from old hard drive and move to my new hard drive so that everything looks the same as before? Any help would be appreciated.

I am using Linux Mint 6.0.3.1 , and my Mozilla Firefox version is 77.0.1 . My Firefox will not update, neither automatically nor when prompted. When I go to all the pages for downloading and installing the newest Firefox, I am always able to download a package, which appears as a folder labeled " firefox-89.0.2.tar.bz2 " but then I cannot install it, it just appears as a folder full of files that will not run. I have tried following the command lines in the terminal that these pages claim will make the new version run, but I always just get a response like "no such command" or "no file exists." Shouldn't there be some relatively simple and reliable path to just get firefox 89 onto my computer?

I'd like to update my mac's firefox, but not to the latest version. I know about the directory of releases, but I can't seem to find advice on what to do once I download the file. I don't want to create a separate profile, or risk messing up the profile/settings I have currently. So, any thoughts? Thank you in advance for the help.

W8.1 PC running Firefox as browser. Used W Media Down Load Tool and process went through seemingly without a hitch! When testing functionality i.e., attempting to open Firefox had a pop window (att) Message "Firefox is already running but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window." Firefox was not running of course checked via Task manager. Noted some issues reported if Windows installed in 'S Mode' and verified this did not apply in my case. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled the latest version ticking the box to include my settings etc., and file version 89.0.2.7843 was installed I won't say successfully as I received the same error message. as above. Have performed several more troubleshooting tips obtained via a Windows Forum the past few days all resulting in the same result and message.

My question is if any other Mozilla Firefox have encountered this type of issue and managed to resolve it?

PS: I am sending this message from another W10 as my problem PC is running another troubleshoot scenario
