What's the current instruction for deleting IRLs from the address bar pull down menu? This is not about the history, per se, of having been to any location. All I would like to do is delete several extraneous IRLs that are in the pull down menu which I don't need or rarely use, at least from that location.

Thanks.

When I scan a barcode using Firefox, characters are added/rearranged. This causes errors for our company's customers and inaccurate data entry. Scanning the attached barcode produced the following results in Firefox:

The same barcode produced the following results in Notepad:

(01)05391529380069(17)210702(10)0000026354 (01)05391529380069(17)210702(10)0000026354 (01)05391529380069(17)210702(10)0000026354 (01)05391529380069(17)210702(10)0000026354 (01)05391529380069(17)210702(10)0000026354 (01)05391529380069(17)210702(10)0000026354 (01)05391529380069(17)210702(10)0000026354 (01)05391529380069(17)210702(10)0000026354 (01)05391529380069(17)210702(10)0000026354 (01)05391529380069(17)210702(10)0000026354

I have checked for updates, cleared my cache, and rebooted my browser. I've also tried disabling active extensions.

Visited links are turning color to purple in my firefox, which is default color, I did not change those color settings, and usually this behavior works but sometime on some links in google search result

  1. Clicked link turning color
  2. Checking the page and clicking back button
  3. visited link color is still blue, should have been purple

I tried to open same search result in another tab but still no purple color for visited link. probably google adding some parameter to visited link which is making firefox algorithm to not to understand is this link visited or not.

you can see behaviour at https://youtu.be/2xAc4yf3uJY or https://imgur.com/1kydG7m or https://imgur.com/7g8aivL

My firefox version is 92.0.1, in windows 10

Firefox recently stopped working altogether on my Windows 10 laptop for some reason & I don't know why. It won't load the start page, addons page, or ANY WEBSITES WHATSOEVER! I've never encountered this issue before. I've tried refreshing Firefox, uninstalling & reinstalling Firefox, tried deleting & replacing my old Firefox profile because I thought it might be corrupted. NONE of these options worked! It worked fine earlier today, but it hasn't worked since restarting my computer system this past evening. I don't know which details are relevant or irrelevant so I'm trying to be as detailed as I can in explaining my issues. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this? I'm DESPERATE here!

Hi,

I found some discussion related (https://discourse.mozilla.org/t/disable-add-ons-on-specific-website/33693) but no solution yet.

This is imho a big flaw in the privacy of users.

There are trivial cases, for example if I use a YouTube downloader plugin, I obviously want it to monitor my browsing ONLY when I'm on youtube.com...

And there are some critical cases: when I browse my web banking, or when I go on some trading website, I don't want my financial operations to be at risk because of an add-on that is very useful everywhere but on those site.

However, I don't want to exclude all the add-ons for those website too, that would be just too much.

I think there's already a coding base in place, since you can disable each add-on when using private windows. This could be enhanced by having a system of whitelist/blacklist instead. And this feature would actually make more sense than using a private window.

Another way would be to have this feature on per container, instead of per website, than would work well too.

People have different activities, and some requires useful plugins, that are very specific. I mean Keepass's add-on (for example) is useful everywhere, but many add-ons are related to one activity at a time.

For example, if I'm a marketer and want to analyze website, I'll use add-ons for having stats on metadata or keywords or even real time reports from Alexa or from AliExpress, etc...

But when I'm reading my email, I'm not happy those add-ons can see my data.

That would be tedious to disable all those plugins every time I change activity, especially since we are productive humans so obviously we need to alternate those activities doing multitask all the time.

And the private window option is not flexible enough for that kind of multitasking, when containers are.

I hope this helps everyone understand clearly why I think my request is not only a real user need, but also currently a flaw in users privacy since most people will not trade the comfort of their add-ons for some privacy concern they don't always understand...

I know this is some kind of feature request more than ask for help, but https://qsurvey.mozilla.com/s3/FirefoxInput/ is out of service so I don't know where to address my concern here.

Thanks for helping me pushing this idea forward.

Firefox needs a limit on memory usage. I was developing a tiny web page on Linux (PopOS) and accidentally created an endless loop in Javascript that ate memory (by growing an array). My entire OS became inoperable and had to be hard-rebooted. I was surprised this could happen due to Javascript (a sandboxed browser language), running in a web page (a sandboxed app) running in a Firefox browser that is supposed to protect users from the world wild web. One errant line of legal Javascript in HTML should not equate to a denial-of-service attack.

A sensible approach would be similar to the nice warning given when a script takes too much CPU, offering the user the choice to continue or stop the script when a tab exceeds some reasonable size: a fixed MB size, or say 10% of real RAM memory.

Ideally there should also be some hard limit calculated by Firefox according to the machine's available memory and Firefox's reasonable percentage of it. For example, maybe limit Firefox (all tabs combined) to 50% or maybe 75% of real memory, so that the O/S has a reasonable chance to remain operational so that a bad tab can be closed. Otherwise, Firefox could cause the O/S to lock up, resulting in data loss if there are tabs or other apps outside of Firefox that have unsaved changes.

Thanks for your consideration!
