I seem to be encountering various problems since the update to 73, the main one is the profile folder, I dislike the default location so have previously just put my preferred location in appdata\roaming\mozila\profiles.ini but 73 regularly ignores this and puts a basic profile in the default location and alters profile.ini. Using the profile manager does not get any better results. I am also having problems with the home page, I have set a custom page but 73 often resets this to a blank page or sometimes the default home page. I have had to resort to a 'portable' version as 73 constantly resetting things was getting so annoying but the portable does not work well as a default browser.

Well, it works on search suggestions, but does not work on history, bookmarks, urls, etc. If i use new clean profile, address bar works normally, so it may be some error in my profile. But as you can see from third screenshot, suggestion on history is enabled, so I don't know how to fix this.

I've had Firefox Facebook Container and Multiple Containers for quite some time. I've also had two Gmail accounts for quite some time. I've always been able to open both accounts, and until recently, been able to successfully open them in separate containers. Something the last week or so has broken however and the two accounts refuse to be opened in two containers. I NEED to keep my work email/browsing/YouTube separate from my home email/browsing/YouTube. The first one opens fine in it's container. The second one, when starting Firefox, USED to ask me every time if I wanted to open it in it's container (annoying, but tolerable), but it worked. NOW when I try to open two email accounts in separate containers, it just refuses to do it. It opens without them in the container - the first one places into it's container, but the second one refuses to open in its own container. I open a new tab in the desired container (the other one to the one that initially opens successfully), it loads to Google with the RIGHT Google account in the right container, but when I hit email from Google, it totally swaps, opening a new window of the WRONG container and loads the WRONG account EVERY TIME. I can certainly change email accounts at that point, but it's then in the WRONG container, so that I have them both open in the same container. If I try to transfer it to the correct container, it just doesn't do it - it opens a new page in the same INCORRECT container.

This is now broken for me! And it happened just the last week. Is it possible that this can be fixed again? This is basic reason for using containers! If you can't keep stuff separated, like separate Google accounts to keep work and home browsing histories separate, then what the heck is the point of these containers anyway?? I may as well not have them.

Hello,

There are many videos online now, some in news articles. I do not want to watch the video, so I scroll past. Then it follows me down the page. I wish it would take the rather obvious hint, I am not interested.

How do I stop this behavior please? It is only meant to artificially increase video view counts and helps no one. It is wasting my time, as I have to click the video to close it, every time.

Please help.

For the last few months, I have been experiencing a login problem with Vendor accounts (each one has a warning about using Firefox as my browser of choice) and the feedback I get from the Vendors is to change browsers. Is this some sort of Firefox payback or what - I am tired of this login problem and having to hold the hands of each Vendor. I don't know if the problem is with Firefox or the Vendors, but I have looked into loading a previous version of Firefox to see if the problem goes away, but can't find the way to load a previous version of Firefox. What to do about this login problem - should I change browsers? I can be reached by email for any suggestions or help!

Google Sheets is not functioning correctly in FF 80.0.1. I have two Macs; iMac and Macbook Pro both running OSX High Sierra and displaying the same issue. Google Sheets appears 'sticky' e.g. when clicking from one cell to another a whole section of the sheet will suddenly be highlighted. Clicking away simply moves the selection. It takes repeated clicking to finally select the desired cell. Tabs for different workbooks at the bottom can't be selected without the tab being 'grabbed' and dragged following the mouse cursor. Again, repeated clicking is required to release the tab.

I'm seeing no similar issues when viewing the same spreadsheets in Chrome. Has anyone else experienced this?

My website 'achternamen.net' is 5 years old and attracts a constant daily average of 40 curious visitors the year around, mostly to find out if their own surname is included or pick up some amusing ones. It contains approx. 18.000 special and interesting dutch surnames of small families with up to 1.000 members, divided in 21 chapters. On about 100 pages and including the history of surname giving in The Netherlands. I work almost every day at adding new content.

Now there is a strong discrepancy in the ranking of my website in the important browsers and I wonder why. On google and bing for instance it is ranked on the second or third pages when you search, as usually, on the general term 'achternamen'. But strangely, I am not able to even locate my site on firefox!

I would like to know why that is, all the more because firefox has been for long years my standard browser and still is. So would you please investigate and overhaul my ranking position?

Thank you very much and ciao

Hello, I am using Firefox 80.0. Since the last update, some Comcast emails I send from Xfinity's web email portal have not been getting to their intended recipients. I get an email sent pop-up message. They show up in the sent folder. But they don't arrive where they are supposed to go. These are to clients I regularly correspond with so it's not a case of a typo in an email address. I get no notice that the emails did not arrive. I did several test emails to a Gmail account I use infrequently. They did not arrive. Then I decided to log in to my Comcast/Xfinity account on Google Chrome and send test emails from there and that worked. Anyone have any idea what's going on here? I really want to continue using Firefox for many reasons. Thank you. Regards, Slack

This computer came loaded with Windows 10 -- this is not an upgraded computer. Is my problem with Firefox or Windows 10.

This morning I discovered that FF has updated itself somehow (despite my setting things to ask and not install automatically - READ THIS MOZILLA - THIS POLICY SUCKS!)

In going to Ebay to complete and print a shipping label, I have to enter numeric data for weight and dimensions. Like never before, this new version shows these input fields in a manner (see attached) that makes it impossible to see the full values and it forces these stupid up/down arrows on me further making things painful. I opened the same page in Chrome and neither of these happen there.

How can I make FF just use normal, numeric input fields?

Thanks

Prior to Firefox v. 79, when I was developing a web site and needed to clear the cache of cached CSS and javascript files, I could quickly do so using Ctrl+F5.

When v. 79 came out, I had to go into the Web Developer Tools' settings and select "Disable HTTP Cache (when toolbox is open)" or check "disable cache" on the Network Tab. I could have lived with the latter, that's a pretty cool feature. However, with v. 80, that doesn't even work reliably. At times, I have to go into Firefox Preferences -> Privacy and Security -> Clear Data -> Uncheck "Cookies and Site Data" -> and click "Clear."

That's five clicks each time I need to clear the cache while I'm working, when it used to just take a quick Ctrl+F5 key combination.

I've seen some suggestions to disable Firefox caching altogether in about:config, but I don't want to do that because Firefox is my primary browser.

Are there any solutions, or is there a fix forthcoming? I checked Bugzilla and saw some reports of the problem, but didn't see a fix in the works.

Hello everyone

My problem is repeated Firefox a/c drop outs when using Firefox. - four or five a week. When re-logging back-in I have to go through the same routine of getting a OTP from Mozilla and putting it in to get back on. This has been going on for 4/5 months when for some reason Mozilla/Firefox thinks I am using a different device when I am absolutely not. I use the same PC on the same wi-fi provider using the same router, logins etc. A few months ago all my Lock-wise password details disappeared and I haven't seen them since ... arghhhh! Even when I put a few back in and manually sync them, they are gone at the next login. Something is not right here, but I am clueless as to what though ... any ideas folks?

Windows 10 64bit, up to date, latest Firefox installed. WiFi hasn't dropped out in literally years.

Dear Firefox community,

I recently aske the following question of the technical team for an on-line math app called 'ST Math' which is used throughout high schools, gradeschools and homeschools world-wide:

Hi Technical Team! Will you be incorporating Firefox as a supported browser with the launch of the soon-to-be updated ST Math? This is the preferred browser for our family for security, speed, and functionality reasons. Appreciate your assistance & looking forward to your response.

Their response: I'm sorry, but no, we do not have plans to support Firefox use as it does not support some of the required HTML and JavaScript functions in our system. MIND Support

Firefox is the only web browser not supported by this application; please will someone investigate this.

Sincerely & Respectfully,

A faithfull user of Firefox for over 10 years

I recently upgraded a computer (Dell Optiplex 390) to Windows 10 version 2004. I installed the latest version of Firefox Ver 80.0.1. I have no audio coming from the Firefox browser. All of my other browsers (Edge, Chrome) have good audio as well as all my media players (VLC, MS Media Player, etc.). For example when I play a YouTube music video there is no speaker icon in the YouTube tab. I can right click, and click 'Mute Tab' and the speaker icon appears with a slash through it. Firefox shows up in the audio mixer but there is no pulsing volume level bar to indicate a signal like there is on my other browsers and media players when playing audio. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox twice and even downgraded to Firefox version 79 but none of these actions restored Firefox sound. So since all of my other browsers and media programs all have good audio, I don't have a computer hardware problem or else none of them would work. Somehow Firefox is not sending an audio signal to my sound hardware. I saw a suggestion regarding the about:config entry browser.tabs.show.AudioPlayingIcon, but that entry was not present and was not present on my other computers running Firefox. This must be for an older version. Thanks for your help!

Hi Guys,

I'm having an issue which started a few days ago, where when I search for items using Google, the results used to include images and shopping results (where applicable). For example if I search for a pair of speakers, it used to also show results of retailers that stock the speakers and show an image of the speaker and the price the retailer is selling at.

This was very good for a quick price comparision. But since a few days, those image results are shown, but dissapear after about 1 second. I've tried restarting Firefox and my Mac several times with no joy. I haven't changed any settings in FF (I'm using version 80.0.1 (64-bit)) or anything and no changes to my computer also,

Now if I do the same search in Google on Safari, I'm getting some of the image and shopping results returned and they don't dissapear.

I've attached a couple of screen shots from FF and Safari which show how the search results differ. I'm also using the same Google account on both.

Anybody have any ideas?

The below issue is only present on firefox and no other browser.

My google account is active, and I have no problem with other google sites like Gmail or Drive, but on youtube the behavior is inconsistent. In the upper right corner my user icon shows but the account menu items don't drop down. Further, a message on the left sidebar tells me to "sign in to like videos, comment, and subscribe." Even more oddly, I can still unlike videos or unsubscribe to channels, but I am unable to like or subscribe. I can also access private playlists available only within my account and remove videos, but not add them. It's bizarre.

Anyway, I troubleshot this to no avail in the following order: 1) disable my addons - failed 2) reopen in safe mode - failed 3) uninstalled addons - failed 4) cleared all history/cookies/etc. - failed 5) restored defaults to all settings and configurations - failed 6) refreshed/reinstalled the application - failed and finally 7) uninstalled firefox, deleted data in program files, program files (x86), %appdata%/roaming > installed newest firefox. The installation contained none of my prior data and looked entirely blank, but it too failed.

Having tried all this, youtube's behavior is identical to before the clean reinstall. The only thing I haven't tried is to fully reformat my entire computer. I understand this account problem is highly specific, but any troubleshooting step I missed before might be the key. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
