Hi folks

I have a particularly infuriating problem. A few weeks back, Firefox stopped displaying my usernames and passwords whenever I wanted to log into a site. This coincided with my installing BitDefender, although I don't know why.

Through googling I eventually realised I could go into about:config to fix this. signon.rememberSignons displays as false, when I turn it to true it fixes the issue.

But here is the problem I can't solve. Everytime I restart firefox or my PC / Mac (I am using both, with a syncronised account on both windows and MacOS) it sets signon.rememberSignons to false AGAIN. Which means every single time I browse I have to go into about:config and fix this. Maddening.

Please can you help?

Think I've asked before, but I'm still having the same issue: in my Firefox (desktop, Windows 11), in the storage\default folder in my profile, there are, today, 5442 files! 416 folders appear here, with each one containing one or more folders ("Is", "idb", and/or "cache"), which, in turn, contain several files each, and a ".metadata-v2" file. The oldest of the 416 folders in 9/16/25. What is all this? I regularly delete all cookies over 30 days old in Manage Data.

I couldn't log into a site and it was suggested to 'clear cache' as follows: - settings - privacy and security - cookies and site data - clear browsing data BUT only cookies and temp cache sites. By mistake I believe I ticked browsing and download history too, and looks as though it is irrersible? Now I no longer automatically get all the little boxes I used to get for usual regular log ins (eg The Times, Meteo, banks, email etc) I think I can use 'add shortcuts' and re-enter these, but any other suggestions? With the new organization of Settings, my list of cookies has disappeared. I was trying to delete cookies from a specific site, but when I go to that option in "settings," there is no list of cookies.

I have tried restarting both Firefox and my computer and the list is still missing.

Any suggestions on getting it back?

When i logged into a privacy session on a website the account did not automatically log out when i closed the session. I checked again by purposefully ensuring i closed all privacy windows but when i went back to the sight i was still logged in. I had to specifically log out the account.

Has something changed with the setting? This was one of the features that i liked. I don't want to find a new browser because what i expect is no longer happening.

When I try to log on to a particular web page using my password, I get an error page. When I do so using the Private browse function it works. Following is the error I get: {

Does anyone have any great ideas??

In Firefox, I have several windows open, each with many tabs. (And BTW, I love the Firefox tab-organization feature.) I would like to empty the cache and delete all cookies. Will that close the open tabs? Is there a way to delete the cookies, empty the cache and preserve all windows & tabs?
