Today, and never before has it happened, my Firefox web application abruptly crashed and closed itself while I was sending an email (earlier) and then searching for a spreadsheet in Google Sheets (just recently). Both times, the application also has disappeared from my computer by uninstalling itself I suppose - as I cannot simply reopen the app to pick up where I left off.

So, I've reinstalled it both times but each time - it resets my search history and pre-saved PINS and TAB GROUPS up top. So I have to recreate that each time. It's fine to do it once or twice, but it seems like something is going on here where I will have this problem be a daily or regular occurrence.

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this issue?

I've tried CMD, Powshell, XueTr, etc., but none of them can free up the memory space occupied by these two processes.

I'm using Firefox on Ubuntu, and every time the browser crashes and I reopen it, I get the "Start New Session" or "Restore Previous Session" prompt. I’ve tried both options at different times, but in either case, I find myself logged out of Gmail.

This is quite frustrating, especially considering the number of authentication steps required to log back in (e.g., 2FA, verification prompts, etc.).

It seems like session cookies or state information aren’t being properly preserved or restored after a crash. I had high hopes from Firefox in terms of privacy and stability, but this issue is seriously affecting my workflow.

Has anyone else faced this? Is there a way to ensure that sessions (especially login sessions like Gmail) are preserved after a crash?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

It appears that I have a zombie Firefox browser running because when I close the browser using the top right 'X' button, the Firefox processes are still running when I check Task Manager.

If I end the Firefox task and reopen Firefox the first attempt seems to be stuck crashing because there's no crash log, but I can see in the task manager there's a crashhelper. A second attempt opens just fine, but the issue with that is my previously opened browsers are gone even with the setting to reopen them is enabled.

I've tried reinstalling, disabling my extensions, and updating Java, but none of these resolve the issue.

Ran into an interesting bug with Firefox since installing the macOS26 Dev beta. Whenever I use command space to bring up spotlight, Firefox become unresponsive, the beach ball will spin. It will only happen if Firefox is in focus when I use spotlight, and only if I am signed into Firefox sync.

I am not sure of a way to help replicate this issue as it seems to only happen when signed with Sync, but I would be happy to provide additional if I can.

I have been having this problem and it seems to be getting progressively worse, for a least a couple weeks now. When I first had it happen, I updated Firefox from 135 I believe to the current version, 139.01. I also checked to make sure Windows Update is completed/up to date. I've tried removing and reinstalling Firefox. I've restarted Firefox - a few times. I've restarted my computer - a few times. When I restart Firefox or my computer it will work for a very short time, but goes back to crashing. I have removed extensions. Restarted PC. But never got to try to see which extension it could be because tabs will start crashing again before I get a chance to. Also, I had a full Firefox crash tonight. Tabs worked a bit after that, but went back to crashing again. This is getting REALLY annoying! FIX IT PLEASE.
