Opening PDFs automatically with Firefox and, without any changes I might make, saving them with the download function in Firefox, actually ruins the functionality and data entry function of that file. Specifically this happens with PDF files downloaded from the (not all that amusing) PDFs from the FINCEN, (US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network). I do not see why and how Firefox thinks it is allowed to change files that are simply downloaded and saved on Firefox.

In other words, it seems that Firefox strips away certain "permissions" and/or "functions" (like built-in lookup, menu or choice boxes). This means that the file so downloaded via Firefox can no longer be used to properly fill in data, or to look up and choose data items within the file. (I see many times that ANYTHING having to do with "permissions" tends to be an intractable and unsolvable problem for software makers & experts, so, if you do not know right away how to solve the problem, it will probably take you several years to figure this out.)

The PDF in question is created by a government agency. If you have ever dealt with a government agency, then you know that they act sort of like Adobe or Microsoft: "They don't respond, or they do respond & say they do not understand, and if they understand, they are either unwilling or unable to fix the problem."

If there is a switch or option within Firefox, which lets me tell Firefox "Save this file exactly like it is received, nothing added or removed!", that would be nice. I just have not found such an option yet, and it would be nice if it might get provided someday.

I will share my browser data, but I am sort of convinced that a detailed question like mine will not be addressed within that shared data.

I'm having trouble downloading product specification PDFs in Firefox from Formers Paper, a thermal rolls manufacturer. Some files open correctly, while others fail to download or display properly.

Has anyone experienced similar issues when accessing documents from a thermal rolls manufacturer website? Are there any Firefox settings or troubleshooting steps I should check for PDF downloads and file handling?

Starting 2 or 3 days ago, Firefox began displaying PDFs incorrectly. The problem is that a single letter is omitted here and there. In the attached screenshots, the first one shows the word. "Department" with amissing letter "t" in the middle. After refreshing the screen, the PDF displays correctly, as shown in the second screenshot.

This is occurring on a Mac; it does not seem to occur on a Windows desktop machine.

I am running Firefox Desktop 155.1 on MacOS Monterey 12.7.6.

I was in the process adding text for over an hour when the entire document flipped. It is a PDF I am editing on FireFox. I have done this many times on different documents without this problem.

I have noted other inconsistent behaviors--am I the only one?

Hi, Firefox is hard to use for me right now. The screen turns sometimes black while using the browser. Especially when opening pdf documents in Firefox the screen turns black before the document opens. Also, after switching to another tab or App the pdf is not visible anymore and also black (see sreenshot). I have tried reinstalling Firefox and also start in troubleshoot mode. What is the issue??

Pressing print/pdf button for screenshot then pick the folder destination documents then press save and what it's used for is decrease the size of the screenshot with pinching the screen then retake the screenshot of desired smaller size however for the first time it has an error in documents folder the says "can't open pdf" and then I tried the 3 dot menu in upper right corner to use an app to open it up and I went through all of them and nothing works

set the font as `souce han serif song cn vf`

then export pdf, using Firefox default pdf viewer can render properly, worse, google chorme can render it properly.

All browsers are up to date. Windows 11.

There is an issue with PDFs downloaded using the Firefox PDF viewer. The PDF contains a valid digital signature. When I set the parameter pdfjs.disabled = true, everything works as expected, the PDF is downloaded correctly, and when I open it with Adobe Reader, the signature is valid. However, when I set this parameter to false (default value) and download the PDF using the built-in Firefox PDF viewer, the signature becomes invalid. Hi, would I be able to get a free PDF reader? I have few items on my computer face and I can not open a PDF say of one of my laminating machine. do Firefox or Mozell have a PDF reader I can download for free?

I use Xero accounting software and used to be able to view pdf within the software up until the recent update. Now it just sits with a spinning wheel. I've found that if I change the setting within Firefox to open the pdf within Firefox the issue is fixed in Xero. But then all pdf's open in Firefox instead of the usual Adobe. This breaks other workflows within my organisation as I need to email the pdf straight away when I download it, so my Windows was set with Adobe as the default for opening pdf's but now Firefox has taken that over. There does not appear to be any way to email the pdf from Firefox other than to save it and then find the file and email it from there which is very time consuming. I don't know what has changed in Firefox, but please can you fix it. I see I'm not the only person with this issue.
