Well, I don't know what changed! My antivir tells me that I got a tracking cookie but they want money to delete it. So I searched and found an add on called "NoScript" who could maybe do the job for me.

But my problem is: I am (always) online with Firefox. If I want to download/install ANY add on, the site always tells me "Only in Firefox - Download and install now". As I am online with the newest version (79.0) , I absolutely don't understand this message. Okay, so I gave it a chance, hit the button and "installed" what's allready on my computer. But after that there is no change! If I want the add on, I still get the same message: "Only in Firefox - Download and install now"

What can you do for me or is there (really?) anything I have to change to be able to install AddOns again?

I just finished installing Ubuntu 20.04. When I started Firefox for the first time, it told me I was using an 'out of date' version and advised me to update. I clicked on OK to do the update and thought it strange when Firefox started that it didn't have my home page. I immediately went to check the settings (now Preferences) and saw that the Home page was gone. I suspected that something had been done with my Firefox settings and checked my Bookmarks only to find them all gone. I don't believe that Firefox development would be so crass / careless as to delete my Bookmarks in this fashion. How can I retrieve them ?

Applications that run inside the browser, e.g. on-line version of Excel, use the same finger swipe controls as the browser itself. This creates problems, the most annoying of which is trying to move around in an on-line Excel spreadsheet and the browser thinks you want to go back an entire web-page. If you don't perform the swipe exactly right all of a sudden not only did you lose your work and train of thought, you need to log back into the on-line document etc etc.

How can you set Firefox so that it only uses the arrow buttons to go back a page?

I use a mid 2011 Mac (16GB of RAM) which has maxed out on El Capitan 10.11.6. I have 2 issues. Every time I open Firefox, it says that it is trying to install a helper tool which will happen on restarting Firefox. Nothing seems to happen. When I next reopen Firefox this process repeats.

I have also downloaded and try to install 76.0 several times but eachtime I restart Firefox I remain on 75.0.

Any thoughts?

Have a desktop and 2 laptops, (old and new). Need to share 100% of the desktop's Firefox profile directory structure with the 2 laptops. Meaning from the desktop;

scp -rp .mozilla/* laptop:~/.mozilla/

For security reasons, (and yes, I do work with government mandated private information), I can not share anything beyond my computers. So, the cloud is out of the question.

All I want is to copy my home directory from the desktop to the laptops, when needed.

It's so frustrating that the keyboard shortcut for closing tabs is right beside the one to quit Firefox. I've lost countless hours because of this, and it's so easy to accidentally do. Is there a way to keep this from happening? A simple "Are you sure" confirmation dialog would be great, or I really like the Chrome "hold command-Q" to exit feature. This seemingly simple function is proving extremely difficult to accomplish.

Yes, I'm aware of session restore, but (1) It does not preserve my window arrangement. I use multiple desktops for various tasks, and they each have related browser windows. (2) I need to see webpages exactly as they were when I opened them. Sessions expire, dynamic pages are refreshed, content is removed etc. That is all lost.

I do not want to disable session restore completely. It can still be useful. But, I do not want to trigger session restore automatically every time. Manual activation is ideal.

regarding: "browser.tabs.warnOnClose" I do not want a warning for closing multiple tabs. I often have many windows open and that warning gets annoying. It also doesn't prevent me from accidentally quitting when I only have one tab open.

I tried setting browser.warnOnQuit to true, but it's ignored.

I simply want a confirmation when I use the keyboard shortcut to QUIT. That's it. No side effects. Can Firefox do this?

NOTE: I'm posting this from a different machine to the one which has the problem because, well, I can't run Firefox any more :-D

Hello,

The latest beta channel version (installed on 2nd June 2020 at 16:00 UTC+2) of Firefox for x86-64bit Linux now requires GLIBC 2.18 (for libxul.so it says). This was not the case a couple of weeks ago when I last updated the Linux machine's Firefox.

Unfortunately, the highest version of GLIBC available on Redhat Enterprise Linux 7, through the usual yum channel for our servers, is GLIBC 2.17.

Anyone else stumble upon this? Any solutions (except upgrading to RHEL 8 ;-) )? At worst, I could downgrade Firefox to a previous beta or stable version.

Sorry for the probably noob-ish question. Error message when trying to run firefox:

XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /usr/local/firefox/libxul.so: /lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.18' not found (required by /usr/local/firefox/libxul.so) Couldn't load XPCOM.

Hi, I am visiting a site from my favorites and suddenly I am greeted with a red page urging me that this site has dangerous content and I should leave it? Why is that? There is an option to ignore the risk but I want this red screen disabled and not to see it again. How can I disable it and possibly even delete it from my computer?

In the settings I have unchecked this: Deceptive Content and Dangerous Software Protection Block dangerous and deceptive content

but still get the error. How can I disable this stupid page!

Hi,

I recently had to change my yahoo email password. I changed it ti Thunderbird but now even though incoming mail works fine, I can't send emails.

Also, how can I see my password to this Forum? I want to back it up but I don't remember it and if my browser looses it, I'd need to establish a new account and I'd like to avoid that by having a back-up of my Password.

Thanks in advance for your help. Bill

Like many folks, I have somehow toggled 'Run as Administrator' and then become frustrated as Firefox asks every single time a tab or page opens if I want 'to allow Firefox to make changes to your computer'. Frustrating.

I've seen several answers to go to the 'Compatibility' tab and uncheck 'Run as Administrator' - but that did not seem to be solving the problem. I know it didn't for me!

It seems there is ANOTHER place to deactivate 'Run as Administrator'...and it supersedes the Compatibility input.

Firefox Properties => Shortcut => Advanced. Uncheck 'Run as Administrator'. The problem was solved for me, hope it works for you, too!
