Bear with me there's a bit of a story.

One of the apps I most use is MightyText. It allows me to send texts from my desktop computer's web browser. When FireFox automatically updated to the newest version, something didn't work right and MightyText stopped being able to connect.

My workaround was to use System Restore to go back in time so to speak. But FireFox is pretty aggressive with their updates, and eventually that stopped being a work around.

I tried to install an older version of FireFox manually but I couldn't ever get my profile to work right.

So, I've landed somewhere where FireFox has updated to the latest version, AND MightyText works just fine.

But now the problem is I cannot use any of my add-ons. Actually, I can re-fresh FireFox, and start it without any add ons. I can add all my add ons and everything works great, but if I restart my computer, FireFox will not connect to the internet (the wheel just spins) until I refresh again and wipe out all the add-ons. After doing so, all my tabs are restored, all my saved passwords, etc--and I can add back the add-ons and they will work until FireFox Crashes or I restart the computer, but then FF won't connect to the internet and around and around we go.

What's up?

Lately almost every time I use Firefox, RAM usage goes up to 5 GB, CPU usage goes to 100%, and my PC becomes unusable until I kill Firefox processes and wait 5 - 10 minutes for virtual RAM to be cleared out of disk and disk usage to return to normal. This is much worse since the last update, basically making Firefox unusable. Is anyone working on fixes so Firefox doesn't need 5 GB of RAM to open one simple web article?

I unstalled my old Firefox version without saving my bookmarks. I then installed the current Firefox version and realized that all my bookmarks are gone. I tried already to restore them, it finds the file, but then I cannot import them. The c:\windows.old thing does not work for me. Any other ideas where to look for my old bookmarks? Thanks, Daniela

I am getting the message "Access Denied You don't have permission to access "http://www4.citizensbankonline.com/efs/servlet/efs/loginnew-wait.jsp" on this server. Reference #18.ad674d68.1618522318.738da43 " when I try to log on to my bank. I'm running Windows 8.1 with Windows Defender and have accessed this site for years. When I called the bank's tech support their response was "Why are you still using Firefox? Everybody uses Chrome now." I do not use Chrome, but Edge will access the web page with no problem. This has been occurring on and off for several weeks and I have tried all suggested solutions I've found here so far (clear cache, history, DNS prefetch.... ). I've also noticed numerous other posts with the same error message. Any ideas??

Upgraded to a new Firefox version. Lost the ability to separate the Homepage from New Window behaviour. Is there no way to specify these two things separately? It seemed to be working fine when I first upgraded, but in the options it shows everything as "Blank Page", so if I want to change my homepage URLs, I have to set it to that and if I do that, it undoes the separation of the homepage and new windows and I have to go set it again in about:config...? One of my most used features was this separation of the Homepage with New Windows, gave me a lot of control.

While using HTTPS Only Mode, and following links from my GMail Account, I often get the "not available" Firefox landing page, when actually the "ultimate" link is HTTPS. When I select the option to "Continue" from the FF Landing Page, it will land on the https site.

It appears the initial link is a 3rd party intermediary (* see below) that manages for the sender.

Intermediary Link: http://click1.e.westernjournalism.com/hmvwhljsrclzhlwdzsnvlzlvlnznmpbjmjcfnwpvswmbwss_zdbbwmsmzskrlrdszpzzz.html

How do I get around this annoyance?

Thank you!

Hi everyone,

I do need help on the following issue: I'm logged in my mailbox with Firefox browser. The password is saved and available in the browser settings. BUT. If I try to enter it and log in from another device, the mail service says the password is wrong. I can't understand how it is possible. The browser should use one of the saved passwords for the authorization, right? Why doesn't it work outside this very browser?

MAYBE one day I changed the password in the mail service, logged in, BUT didn't refresh it in the browser settings? May the browser use some cookies, service files or something like that for authorization despite unactual password saved? If yes, then how is it possible to extract the true password out of those files?

I turned to the mail service support, but they can't help me, because I didn't enter my real name, phone number or something during registration that could help to check my identity. So the only opportunity to save my mail is to use the browser files somehow. I'm going to reinstall Windows and I will loose access to my mail forever in this case that would be very very bad.. ((( Please, help!

I use Zone Alarm Extreme Security to scan for viruses, etc. I just upgraded to the latest version on my Windows 8.1 PC. Almost every scan has found the Heur:trojan-Downloader.script.generic virus in the same place. The path is as follows:

C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\56zaeue3.default\extensions\staged\{b54cc223-b03f-4f2f-8cab-347ec67ab3fe}\bootstrap.js

ZA keeps treating the virus, but I want to get rid of it all together. I haven't been able to delete it because it is not visible in the folder location listed in the path. I've turned on view system/invisible files, but it is not visible. ZA tech support suggests reinstalling Firefox to see if that solves the problem, and if not, then a complete uninstall then reinstall of ZA.

I'm wondering if I can just delete the "staged" folder to get rid of the virus... The only extension I have added to Firefox is AdBlocker Ultimate, and I did that after the virus started showing up.

Has anyone else had this virus problem and if so, how did you solve it?

I lost a session with many tabs.

Unfortunately "Restore previous session" was not available. I found a upgrade.jsonlz4 file with a date and time which would have the tabs on it. The size is larger than other ones so I figured this was the best option. I coppied this and pasted it into profiles. Renamed it sessionstore.jsonlz4... Renamed the sessionstore that was in there already to sessionstoreOLD Restarted firefox and when I click on restore previous session button I just get 2 blank tabs.

I then tried the other files which are significantly smaller but still no dice.

I tried the jefferson scrounger and it just gets stuck on "processing"

Any help would be much appreciated.

Please see screenshot of the files I had available to me and saved to a usb.

Have been running the current version of FF on Windows 8.1 with no problems for a long while.

Suddenly find that no download links work; Torrents, OneDrive, GoogleDrive - even the download link on FF's page.

Have found that I can right-click a torrent on public sites and copy the link into uTorrent and get a result that works. But won't work on private torrent sites - Invalid Torrent File!

Also lost the 'Display download progress' down-arrow from the task bar, managed to restore it after selecting Customize Toolbar, where it doesn't appear as an option but magically reappeared on the Taskbar.

Please help.
