Firefox is saving all of my files on my desktop. how do i fix this????

I have "Always ask you where to save files" checked but when I save a file I don't get asked where to save the file and it's going into Downloads. I didn't have this issue before. Something isn't working right since the last few updates.

Why does Firefox take wild guesses at what folder I want something save to. I just downloaded 108 files to the same folder and Firefox never caught onto where I wanted to save these files. It just kept pitching randome "default" folders all over my computer. How can this possibly be a desirable behavior?
