How do I set master password timeout?

I am using Firefox Browser 78.0.2 (64-bit) on macOS 10.15.5 (19F101).

I enabled all the features in the "Logins and Passwords" section of Preferences/Privacy Security. This resulted in Firefox remembering and auto-filling usernames and passwords as expected. It would ask me for the master password only once for every browser restart, i.e. if I close all the browser windows. If I keep the browser running it seems it'll happily fill in my passwords without ever again asking for the master password.

I do not think this safe enough. How do I make the browser ask for the master password after a certain time, even if I don't restart the browser?

I did a bit of research and I found the signon.masterPasswordReprompt.timeout_ms parameter under about:config. I don't know if I misunderstood the purpose of this parameter or it is just broken but this parameter does not set the master password timeout in milliseconds. Its default value is 900000, which would be 15 mins. The browser most definitely does not ask for the master password after 15 mins. I tried to set this value to various smaller values to basically no avail. One time I did manage to get a master password prompt without restarting the browser but I can't reproduce this so I am not sure what caused it.

I would appreciate any help or pointers!

Firefox Monitor reported data breaches for a couple of websites I did not recognize. Sure enough, when I went to the sites and entered my email address and clicked on "Forgot your password?", I got the message that no user with that email address was found.

Why would my email address show up on a list for a website I where I never set up an account? One of them I don't remember ever even visiting but who knows.

I can't think of any way to resolve being vulnerable in a data breach if I never registered an account. Is there some action I can take? Should I be concerned?

I doubt this info is of use but just in case: MacBook Pro 2015 / Firefox 78.0.2 (64-bit)

Just recently, Firefox stopped auto-filling my logins and passwords on the websites I visit. Check my privacy and security preferences, and noticed the box was unchecked for "ask to save logins and passwords for websites" so I checked it. But it won't save. Every time I close the browser, the preference reverts back. There is no "save" option after I check the box either.

This seems to have occurred with latest update. I could manage bookmarks with initial Catalina update. Have tried all suggestions, but bookmarks still frozen. Luckily I can use bookmarks, but just can't add, delete, rename. Am afraid to try very complicated maneuvers for fear of causing worse problems. May have to involve local NERD group to solve this problem. It is unfortunate that Firefox can't offer fixes for this. Don't want to have to eliminate Firefox and use another browser just because of this bookmark problem. Have spent many hours trying to solve this with no luck. Hopefully someone out there will have easy solution

I have just installed Firefox on my Mac, it's up to date, but I am running into a problem on every single website I visit, which is that I can fill in forms online with all my information -- except for credit card information. Those form fields show up narrower than other form fields on the same pages, and it's impossible for me to enter any information into them. Is there any reason this may be happening?

I received a notice supposedly from Firefox that my main email has been breached. I tried to follow the instructions to correct that but was unsuccessful. If the message is not from Firefox, I guess that's good. Nevertheless, I want to know if I have a problem and, if so, how to correct it.

I just updated the OS on my Mac, and now video won't play on some sites. It plays fine on Youtube, as an example, but won't play any video on Reddit. I have tried on Chrome, everything works just fine. But suddenly, just on Firefox, some video won't play on some sites. It's very strange, and I am at a total loss. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm running Firefox 78.0.2 on a Mac running macOS 10.15.4.

I use my address bar for search and navigation. My default search engine is Google. I have search suggestions turned off.

Usually, when I begin to type something in the address bar, the dropdown will be autopopulated with matching items from my bookmarks. My text is usually not autocompleted in any way.

I recently noticed that when I type in "blog", at the top of the list is "blog.macsales.com" – a site that is not in my bookmarks or my history. It automatically fills in the rest of the url, unless I type a space or something else. Screenshot of what happens when I type "blog" is attached.

The same thing happens when I type in "docs" – it autofills the address bar with the url for "docs.google.com". Although I do use this site, it is not in my bookmarks, and my history is completely cleared, so it shouldn't show up as a suggestion, much less autocomplete my typing.

And when I type in "news," it autofills "news.cnet.com" – a site I never use, and don't have bookmarked.

I've cleared all cookies and cache, disabled my extensions (Ghostery, Facebook Container, and Reddit Enhancement Suite), started in safe mode, refreshed the browser, and, ultimately, uninstalled Firefox entirely and reinstalled, to no avail.

I suspect there's either something very simple I'm missing, or some sort of hijacking malware, but I don't know how to find it. McAfee Endpoint has found nothing.

Any suggestions would be really welcome!

Hello everyone,

So I am having this issue that I have attempted to fix but when I fix one issue it seems to cause another. So I use MacOS with Firefox as the default browser, both of which are running the latest version. I use SwissCows as the search engine and the problem I encountered was that when I would click on one of the search results, it would open the link in a new tab. As one may imagine, this would get confusing quickly. To fix the issue, I went into advanced preferences and adjusted browser.link.open_newwindow and browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction values to 1 and 0 respectively. It fixed that problem, but now I have a new problem. Certain links from third party email app or log ins from extensions will open in the current tab instead of opening in a new tab.

Any advice or is this just something that I am going to have to learn to deal with?

"We have detected you are using a 6to4 tunnel. 6to4 is deprecated and will be shutdown shortly."

I keep getting this message. The past few times it would simply ask me to verify I am not a robot (from google search). Today it simply says this.

Any ideas on how I fix this?

Thanks

2.) Since moving to Firefox, I've added Bookmarks and don't want to lose them with an overwrite. Is there a way I can import just one folder of Bookmarks from Chrome? Rather than doing a complete overwrite?

This is something of a new break, in one of the recent updates. Used to work fine earlier.
