i - Win7 User - wanted to change my Browser from Google Chrome to Firefox; i tried the Option in Firefox, to import all Log-in Data & Passwords but... Half of them is missing & Firefox doesn't automatically fill out my Log-in Info & Password.

I need to view my past search history from almost a year ago for a civil court case.

Unfortunately, my browser has been set to delete everything and I cannot see any search history prior to today's data.

Is there a way to view my past search history even though it's already been deleted?

About:telemetry shows an ID value in General Data. Is this the basis for firefox calculating the number of active users? Because the ID value is different for my across different versions of Firefox on the same computer.

In a reddit thread, someone has made this claim:

" MAUs are industry standard KPIs. Usernames, emails, user ids are tied to guids or uuids for the purpose of ensuring that you track unique users. Anyone who has used software like Segment understands this.

Mozilla needs to know its platform usage. This comes from device identifiers and os data, and is used in tandem with user data to track the statistics of it’s MAUs. Any software firm or website runner will be able to confirm this.

So when you use Mozilla and create a username, they tie that data to the browser and user info they get from you using their platform. Because that’s what you’re doing: using their software."

I do not believe this statement could be correct, because it seems contradictory to https://wiki.mozilla.org/Security/Anti_tracking_policy

I have spent an hour researching Firefox articles on telemetry, privacy policy and I still do not know what is the basis of the active users statistic. I have read that my IP address is logged in addition to the telemetry data visible in the about:telemetry page, but this does not mean that my log in with Firefox accounts is used as part of telemetry data or in tracking my usage of Firefox.

I have attached troubleshooting data to see what is included.

How to recover deleted history of a few hours ago

I accidentally deleted history of the past hour a few minutes ago. I have not restarted my pc or restarted firefox for that fact. I had some session cookies in whatsapp and wish to login back to my session which can only be done by retrieving those cookies and site settings. How do I do it? I am on Linux but any casual solution will do.

Something has been making my Mac crash multiple times per day. I've been trying to be very methodical in figuring out whether one of the apps I use is causing the problem During this time, I have been getting notifications that there is a new version of Firefox available. I have been pushing the update off until checking on other apps. This morning, I checked to see what version I was running on, before making a support query. Imagine my surprise, when I discovered "Firefox is up to date." Because I had been telling it not to update yet. It doesn't seem likely that I accidentally updated it without noticing, since I have been working with several windows open. It's hard not to notice the windows closing, and re-opening, and the time lag while the front pages all refresh. Has Firefox begun forcing updates on Macs, as it has done for Windoze? I hope not! It's painstaking enough doing this kind of troubleshooting, without versions of apps changing, unannounced!

I have been running into this problem where video's on a site will suddenly start having this "HTML5 video file not found". The confusing this is that it's happening on sites where I was able to actually watch the video just a few seconds before, then I'll browse a few pages then suddenly all the video will show this. I click on the video, it will actually show it for a split second, then shows the "HTML5 video file not found". Most of the time I have to clear cookies, shut down Firefox, and in some cases even restart my PC before it fixes itself. But on some sites, it takes month's before it will suddenly work again. I don't understand why this keeps happening? I've googled fixes for this, and not a single one ever works. Is this a flaw with the Firefox browser, or the websites? Is there a way to stop this from happening because it's incredibly annoying?

When i format my pc i always backup my firefox profile, because with sync it doesn't save my extensions' data that i need. I always did it this way. So yesterday i formatted my drive cause windows was getting too slow and i had too much junk to try and clean it, so i backed up what i needed plus the firefox profile (which was working when i backed it up, i only use firefox and use it daily). I have 2 users on my pc, one for me and one for my dad so i backed up his firefox profile too.

Today as i was going to reinstall everything i put my firefox profile on my win user and his profile on his user account. His profile works perfectly fine he has all his history from way back, password ect. but mine only loads the extensions i had installed not even with the data of any of them and that's it, i dont have my bookmarks, passwords,history...nothing... pls help me i'm desperate.

Thanks so much to anyone that takes time to help me :D

Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue

Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to nvsp.in because this website requires a secure connection.

What can you do about it?

nvsp.in has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site.

The issue is most likely with the website, and there is nothing you can do to resolve it.

If you are on a corporate network or using anti-virus software, you can reach out to the support teams for assistance. You can also notify the website’s administrator about the problem.

I rarely login to Firefox, or Mozilla, but with the demand that all Pocket users must use Firefox/Mozilla logins from now on, I have tried to use the F/M logins, but it's really not working very well, see below.

1) The main login page for F/M is: https://accounts.firefox.com/

1a) Doesn't it make sense to have the login at the Mozilla level, here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/ ?

1b) OK, since it is at the Firefox level, the login page is driving me nuts. I use Norton Password Mgr and nothing shows up on this page to get Norton to fill in the blanks for me. Is there something actively blocking accounts.firefox.com -- a.ff.com that prevents an overlay from Norton PW Mgr?

1c) Once I paste my PW into that area, I arrive on https://accounts.firefox.com/settings that is a nutty homepage. Please choose anything else except the settings page that has a big red "Delete Account" on it at the bottom.

1d) So on the settings page there is a section that says: "Connected Services." Hey, I see Pocket! Great, I click on Pocket and.... well it sends me to a Pocket page where I am not logged on???? What? I am logged on to a.ff.com so why wouldn't you pass the PW under the covers to have me logged in when I click from a secure page in ff? Make it easy for us users, please.

1e) I believe a federated website is in order. If I am logged into a.ff.com then why am I not logged into Pocket automatically and with no effort by me, when I arrive at the Pocket website? This is relatively easy to do under the covers to make it... easier for the user.

2) OK, now I am moving over to Pocket's website, but since F/M owns pocket, I think I am still in the correct support page.

2a) I logged into M/F and then bring up another browser tab and go to Pocket. I should be logged into Pocket as stated above. I am not. So, I try to use Norton PW Mgr again. Hey, the Norton PW-M overwrite is there! Yeah! I click on it, it fills in my ID, Yea! I click on it again it fills in my PW. Great! I click Login and, nothing. I try again to login, nothing. I type my ID and paste in my 16-digit password with random symbols, numbers and u/l case letter, nothing. Why is this not working? Here is the bug: cannot log in to Pocket with my ID and PW.

2b) I go back to a.ff.com > Settings > Connected Services and see that a.ff.com thinks that I logged in to Pocket a few minutes ago? Really? Well Pocket does not think I am logged in??? I go up to the 3x3 squares in the upper right-hand corner and select Pocket, nope, that does not get me logged in either. I look at this Pocket website (https://getpocket.com/en/pocket-and-firefox/?src=ff_bento) and click on "Activate Pocket in Firefox" and it shows me the old a.ff.com login. I enter the PW and... wait... yes! I am logged in to Pocket.

2c) Clearly that was insane. I cry for my peers who like to read (with Pocket) and hate Chrome.

3) Please F/M people, tell me there are a bunch of bugs and design errors due to the absorption of Pocket's website and you have not had time to fix them yet?

4) Or, tell me what ff setting I change that blew my user experience out of the water?

Thanks. Rick.

I've been using firefox for years, mostly on mac and windows. I turned my mac on this morning and when I tried to go fullscreen, the browser froze and eventually closed itself a minute later. I've tried reinstalling, using different versions of firefox, but nothing seems to fix it. Firefox Nightly doesn't freeze, but it crashes instantly when fullscreening. Any idea why any of this is happening? It was working perfectly fine yesterday, I don't believe it was an update because I manually updated it after the bug appeared to see if it would fix it. Thanks!

Hi.

- Firefox is set to "always ask to you where to save files" and this works fine I when i choose to save a file.

- Multiple file types have been set to "always ask" so it can give me the ability to "Open with" (an application) a document rather than downloading it. However, I expect the (temporary) downloaded document to be (opened) in the temp folder, but it's actually being saved in my Downloads folder.

That's not comfortable, but i end up with a massive lit of files in the download folders which were never intended to be saved in the first place, but just opened. That gets mixed up with other stuff in downloads folder.

How can i force the behavior "Open With" to save the document in firefox temp folder rather Downloads ? Thanks for your help. Regards. Flo

I use firefox and open a lot of tabs, and set to reopen closed tabs when starting firefox. I logged out of firefox on my old machine and how can I log in to a new firefox my previous tabs will open again? And for firefox security, is there any function so that every time I start up, I have to enter a new password to be able to log into my account, so that other people can't access the pages I have logged in to? Thanks for reading.

Good morning.

I had been running and enjoying an old version of Firefox (don't know version) on my MacBook Air running Yosemite OS. About two weeks ago, I logged into Hulu to watch a movie and received a message that the Firefox browser I had been using (and watching movies just fine, even two nights previous) would not work. So, I logged into Netflix and got the same message. So, both Firefox and Hulu provided a Firefox update I should try. I downloaded this newer version of Firefox, but upon trying to install it, I received the message that my OS would support this newer Firefox version. The Firefox icon appeared but with a white cross out in it. It wouldn't open. I couldn't find the previous version of Firefox. I couldn't "uninstall" the newer one, either. Note that I did not delete, trash, or remove anything.

I had intended to purchase a new computer anyway, so this pushed forward my timetable mostly because I had A LOT of bookmarks. I purchased a new MacBook Pro, and an Apple store technician helped me migrate contents of my old (2011) computer to the new one. Problem: My bookmarks were nowhere to be found. I still have my old computer and have tried to find those Bookmarks by using your online instructions, but I've had no luck. I really want to find those Bookmarks. What should I do? Note that I am not all that tech savvy. Thanks. -- Robert
