cmd+numbers on alphanumeric keys should switch to respective tab (cmd+1 to 1st tab, cmd+5 to fifth...). With CZ keyboard layout on MacOS, cmd+1 does NOT switch to first tab, it Zooms In instead. No other browser (Edge, Safari, Opera, Orion) exhibits this behaviour. Other numbers work as expected.

FF 98.0.2 on Monterey 12.2.1.

How do I fix this? Thanks.

Hi,

My wife & I have used Firefox for some considerable time now and like it a lot.

However, we have been having trouble with Firefox recently and wonder if you are aware of this. It manifests itself in a very subtle way with only some FEATURES of a particular website not operating, (but no ‘warning’ messages whatsoever).

To begin with, I was at a loss to understand why something didn’t work but, now that this has happened to me on THREE different websites (with features that work perfectly well under MS Edge!), I have come to the conclusion that Firefox is the only “common denominator”.

The first problem was with https://www.parcel2go.com. They have a “Live Help” (Chat) feature. It no longer works with Firefox!

The second was with https://account.patientaccess.com. Try to order “repeat prescriptions” and all is well – until you hit “send”. It no longer works with Firefox!

Today, I have discovered that with https://www.bt.com I am now longer able to access my BT email accounts. Furthermore, they also have a “chat” facility – except that is now also ‘invisible’ to Firefox!

I have seen mention that DuckDuckGo (which I also use) might be involved here?

What’s happened?!!

Hi! Recently, in my laptop, Firefox started freezing at every single startup; after force shutdown and restart, though, it works flawlessly each time, and for the whole duration of the session at the computer. Can anyone please suggest a solution?

My laptop set-up is practically identical to that of my PC, but the latter doesn't exhibit the same malfunction.

I've tried anything I could, including reinstalling the browser, removing all of my bookmarks (about 10,000) and addressing extensions (Decentraleyes, Default Bookmark Folder, Disable Tab Detach, Flagfox, I don't care about cookies, Keepa, Notifier for Gmail, Privacy Badger, To Google Translate, uBlock Origin, Undo Close Tab, Video DownloadHelper and Youtube's Annotations No More), but not even safe mode improved the situation in the least. Windows Defender also hasn't detected any malware and my web surfing habits are as safe as it gets.

The only deeper data I could gather is that the problem manifests with a progressive, rapid surge in CPU and RAM usage; the former, for example, is saturated to its total 16 GB in a matter of about 20 seconds.

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 7586 with Windows 11 64 bit; Firefox version is the latest, 100.0, and, by the way, none of the recent updates has improved the situation.

Thanks to anyone who might come up with an educated guess!

I currently have this add-on installed. It allows you to you highlight certain text, then right click and open up a link to Wiktionary in another tab. Up until a few minutes ago, this menu item was at the very top of the list (i.e. above "undo" and all the rest), but now it's been moved down with all the other add-ons. Image for further clarity.

The add-on hasn't been updated in 6 years, so it's certainly not that. I don't recall doing anything to make it change, but before this, it had been at the top of the menu ever since I added it maybe 2 years ago. Is there any potential way to restore this functionality? The fact that it appeared at the very top of the menu might have been a bug, but if that's the case, it was certainly a convenient one.

Anyway, I'll be looking forward to hearing from you fine folks in this community.

Further to my post about Firefox not connecting to websites. We use Norton 360 for virus control. Nothing has changed there. When searching the net for information Firefox for the last month is unable to access many websites. This only happens with Firefox. Something has changed and I cannot find out what it is so that I can correct it. The settings for microsoft edge are the same and it does not happen with it. I've tried resetting it,deleting and reinstalling but nothing changes.

I've tried rebooting and just using Chrome to access the test page. It still says it's running. Next step is to uninstall...surely there's another solution!?

I was checking my EMAIL the same way I always do: open new tab, click the Gmail button on the new tab. Well once it opened, I then opened my second GMAIL account, and noticed that the two were different. Which forced me to check the URL of my main account and I noticed that they were different. "?zx=s0wp4i3jcokr" was sandwhiched between the number zero and the word "inbox" in the URL. Was I spoofed, and if so, what course of action should I take?

  • NOTE*

Prior to noticing the strange URL my key had been malfunctioning intermittently. Went into inspector to check code, and every word was just random letters. Is this related?

Hello,

I know this question is probably somewhere here but I can't find the answer (what I tried below).

So, I have a Debian 10 computer, with Firefox 78.15.0esr. I'm using the Adwaita (dark version) theme on my OS.

The problem is that Firefox uses the dark theme in Its menus (I don't mind) but It transmits to websites this setting and thus, websites supporting dark mode use it (Google, DuckDuckGo for example). I don't like that. I want them to use the light mode but keeping my theme on my OS.

So, I tried to change the value to 0, 1, 2, 3 (I tried each for them) for the setting layout.css.prefers-color-scheme.content-override and put "Adwaita:light" in the widget.content.gtk-theme-override field in about:config. Each time I restarted Firefox. It never works, websites still continue to use the dark theme...

Thanks in advance

Just now, as I was in the middle of something, Firefox popped up a usage tip about tabs. I find this disruptive. Is there a way to turn these off? If I want to know how to do something, I'll look in the help.

It's fine when you create a new feature to display a tab when I first launch after an upgrade, or to have the Help menu show a Latest Features item, but please don't interrupt my work with pop-ups.

For the moment, I don't see anything in Preferences about this. Is there an about:config setting I can add to suppress this feature?
