I want Firefox to autofill my saved addresses, but I don't want it to automatically save new addresses.

I fill in all kinds of forms, with variations of my name, address, etc., and with other people's info. Firefox saves those variations and autofill becomes effectively unreliable, filled with dozens of erroneous entries, until I manually delete all but the three I want to keep.

It seems silly that there is one checkbox to control both the saving and the filling. Can we get a sub-setting where I can uncheck “save new addresses that I enter”? Or is there an about:config option for it?

Ever notice that the sites that insist on the user disabling Ad Blocker to continue browsing are the ones that run 20 flash ads at the same time? Not to mention the half GB of content it seems that they download on every click?

Here's just one egregious example: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7919337/Last-flight-Wuhan-Everyone-wearing-masks.html

When I disabled my Ad Blocker, CPU usage went to 98% and the page froze my browser.

How do you guys deal with sites like these? Do they realize that this "heavy-handed" approach is counterproductive?

Hello!

When I open a new tab (about:home), autofocus is transferred to the address bar. I need to click on something to remove focus. I want to disable this behavior.

After searching the Internet, I came across only similar problems, but without solutions. I did not find anything in about:config.

Is there a way to disable this autofocus without patches and extensions?

Hello, I usually watch tutorials to learn. However, sometimes tutorial is moving too fast and I need to scroll back the time line to double check if the steps I followed were correct. At this current version I could not find any settings where I could add a timeline to a picture-in-picture mode. Thus making it quite inconvenient for me to go back to Firefox to scroll back my tutorial and play again. Please have a look at the screen shot I have provided.

I hope in the next release I could scroll my videos back and forth in the picture-in-picture mode. Thank you.

I am trying to find high resolution images for my music album art. Previously on google searches I could move the cursor over the image and the resolution would show. Now it no longer does this so I am stuck clicking on image after image to find the high resolution ones. Firstly, is this a mozilla cursor function problem or google search problem? If its mozilla, what turned it off from showing the pixel resolution e.g. 600x600 as I moved over the image and how do I turn it back on? Thanks for any advice that you can give.

Hi all,

I originally posted this question on Stack Overflow...users suggested I post it here. Here is the situation: I run a listserv where I post many job advertisements for my students. I regularly post many advertisements in ~20 different categories of job type. Currently, I simply find the advertisements, and then copy/paste the header and links into a word document for that category. I then highlight all, copy/paste into an email for that category, and send to students. This creates an organizational nightmare for me...since it means that I have ~20 different windows open. Also...all of the window-switching is a real pain-in-the-rear.

I think I figured out a partial solution, but I need some help. I can create a ~20 WordPress blogs...one for each job category. WordPress allows a user to post to a blog via email through a unique email link provided for each blog. In this way, my students will not receive emails. Instead, they will go to a blog to see their advertisements. My problem with this option is that it requires me to copy/paste text into a new email, enter in the correct email address, and then send. This many keystrokes for 100+ advertisements a day will take awhile (even if I use all keyboard shortcuts). It would be really nice if I could create ~20 buttons or icons that I can drag and drop highlight text to, and Firefox would run a macro to copy/paste the text into an email with a preset email address for that job category.

Anything that could help?

Apparently, the preference names for the currently selected / focused, highlighted search match have changed. I can't find any CSS code on the web to modify this behavior. Though I made a note years ago about switching from using prefs for it in about:config, to using a CSS style.

The "unfocused" highlighted search matches do allow me to change both FG & (BG=bright pink) colors - to a point. I think I had to create these prefs, or some of them. The UNfocused search matches color prefs are: ui.textHighlightBackground #EF0FFF ui.textHighlightForeground #000000

They allow me to use black (vs. default white) for the text color on the fuchsia BG.

The pref names for focused search match apparently changed, based on an old profile. ui.textSelectBackgroundAttention #00FF00 ui.textSelectForegroundAttention #FFFFFF (I can change the white FG to anything, but it always defaults to white. The green BG w/ white FG / text, is really hard for me to read.

Fx won't allow me to change the FG color on the currently focused / selected search match. No matter if I select a BG color that black - or many non-white Foreground colors have a much higher contrast values than the default green BG w/ white FG.

Even if the colors I try have a much higher contrast value than the green / white. http://snook.ca/technical/colour_contrast/colour.html#fg=B6C9D0,bg=0004FF

EXCEPT, for the focused / selected match, if I enter white or very light BG, the super smart code still uses white text, making it invisible. But it won't let me use green / black, or yell BG with Red or Blk FG.

I think this problem is because of some algorithm Mozilla uses to calculate contrast values, that obviously doesn't work very well. Anyone know of a way around this issue, or CSS code that might override Mozilla's contrast algorithm?

I have been saving files from my Chromebook to my Google Drive so that I could use them when I'm at my desk. All works well using my Chromebook but when I go to my desk to open these files I can't open them. They are saved as 'mhtml' file type. My desk PC is a HP laptop running Widows 10. When trying to browse to my google drive I get the error seen attached below. If it is a local file I am redirected to Microsoft IE and can open the file but that defeats the purpose of having the files stored in the cloud. Any help out there?

Hi I'm wanting to do a live demo on a product in Firefox. I want to simulate logging in a Customer B then Switch to Customer b, each customer has their own URL www.website.customera.com and www.website.customerb.com...

Often in the demo the customer loses track, so I have 2 different Firefoxes, but it'd be great if there was a way for firefox to dynamically bring up a picture (company logo) when I go to each address (I don't own the websites). Anyway this is possible?

It appears firefox is working REALLY HARD to keep putting the Google search up in successive versions, changing code to subvert the wishers of firefox customers. What is the latest method to drop this? I like having previously visited sites up and this makes the limited list even more limited especially now that they've added search with Amazon as well. It seems like the best reasons to use Firefox are being taken away by Mozilla. Is there a new browser that addresses the concerns Firefox addressed in the past, i.e. not being a slave to a company obsessed with taking over your browser experience for their own advertising income? Firefox has nice features but I'd rather lose a few features if that's required to lose the forced advertising and/or forced extra steps to avoid using their "partner" program. (Ironically I use Google for searches now and will explore other options based on this situation.)
