A while back they made an annoying change to the search field and I wondering if there's a setting to get it back to the way it was.

My default search is Google but lets say I want to buy something. I type "garden hose" in the search field and switch the search to Amazon. Nothing happens. It used to go automatically at that point. Now I need to press enter or the arrow next to the search field. Not a big deal but why did they change that?

Next I want to find out about the 15th US president. I open another tab and search for the "15th president" and it goes to Amazon again. I realized I changed my default search engine. It used to be that I could temporarily change the search engine and it would immediately go back to my default.

I think these 2 facts make the current search field much worse than before.

Is there some way to change it back? I looked over the settings but couldn't find anything.

Searches using the provided Amazon search feature found in settings will always have "tag=admarketus-20" in the url. Example: https://www.amazon.com/s?tag=admarketus-20&ref=pd_sl_ [bunch of letters and numbers] &mfadid=adm&k= [search query] Now, if this were an affiliate tag for Mozilla specifically, I would understand, but googling the "admarketus-20" tag turns up posts showing that users on various other browsers (Vivaldi, Opera, Chrome) also reporting seeing this tag popping up in their searches too. I wondered if this was due to malware, but I did a fresh Firefox installation on a newly installed Win10 machine and it happens there too. Who/what is this tag for?

Hi, I wonder why the "m"-function isn't working anymore. For example, when I stream movies, I often use the “m” key to mute the sound. Recently, the search function has started appearing at the bottom as well. Is there a way to turn off this new function? If I want to search something I'd like to press buttons Shift + f as before. I have only two installed - Google and it's copy, with a modified search query so that there is no result from AI. But periodically I notice that something has installed some other search engines. Yesterday I got a search engine that plants trees and today Amazon. I delete them, but sometimes they (or some other) appear again. I can't imagine that it was me, who accidentally installed them in a hurry (when I need to quickly find something on Google).

I wanted to set keywords for search engines (in order to quickly change them for a single query). This cannot be done for search engines by default (why?), so I had to delete them and create a new one with the same link and my own keywords. But now I can't give them the same name back, firefox says that such a search engine already exists. In general, it doesn't matter to me which letter is there. The main purpose of my appeal is to draw attention to the fact that search engines cannot be edited by default, because it is quite inconvenient. Hello! I saw that the Test day event had started. In Firefox Beta, I entered messaging-system-action.testday in about:config, put it on a string and set the value to testday as it said in the instructions. When I restarted Firefox, the welcome window did not appear and there was also no letter S next to the search as it should be. Please help!

The latest version of Firefox appears to have updated a setting: When selecting a custom search engine in the address bar or search box, you now need to click the mouse three times (click the dropdown button on the left side of the box - select search engine - search); previously, after entering search terms in the search box, you only needed to move the mouse icon below the box to automatically display all search engines, and then click the desired engine to search directly, thus completing the search with just one click.

The old setting was very convenient; while the new setting forces me to click several times every time I want to search for a term in the search bar.

I hope the support team will address and improve this issue.

I used to be able to right click on the search drop down menu and open YouTube without typing anything. Now it requires a search. A minor inconvenience I know, but all the same.

When I use the search engine it will not open and says "Hmm we're having trouble finding that site". My Bookmarks all work and open fine but i cannot search anything?

After upgrading to Firefox 140, the address bar no longer lets me quickly switch between search enginges using the up and down arrow. Is there a way to re-enable this?

Before, I could type the search term and then press the down arrow a couple of times to search with, for example, Wikipedia instead of my default DuckDuckGo. The new address bar no longer seems to include this behaviour.

After I upgraded to v137 and now on v138 I do not have the new search enhancements made to the address bar. Only a new profile will get me the enhancements. I'd rather not have to create a new profile and add all my changes and add-ons all over again. It's a real PITA. Is there any 'trick' I can try to get the new enhancements?
