When attempting to log into support.discord.com, I can't click sign in, as a cookie is blocking me. Discord have told me as it's a specific problem with Firefox, I needed to ask, it also appears to be something that I've setup in Firefox, as a fresh install worked fine.

In the popup for logging in, I get a banner message stating: "Cookies required to use Firefox

To continue signing in using Firefox, allow cookies to be stored on this device. You might see this screen more than once. " with a continue hyperlink at the bottom. This generates a popup asking me to accept a cookie. I accepted this, but it's still blocking me from logging in. I have tried disabling my extensions that might block the cookie, and they have also allowed the cookie that was requested.

On a brand new browser, it's fine. I have strict blocking enabled, with ublock and duckduckgo's extension (all were disabled when I was testing if they were blocking it) and I still can't log in. I'm not sure what else is being blocked (other than google analytics, but that shouldn't stop me logging in).

I do also get some console errors: Uncaught ReferenceError: $ is not defined

For years, never a problem. Suddenly, the Roboform lower toolbox, while being checked in the latest Firefox options, will not actually show up. The Roboform help suggestions are numerous but haven't helped at all. Something somewhere has been changed and it's most unfortunate but I cannot continue with Firefox. Chrome does load the lower toolbar with no problems ever. I dislike switching but unless help comes soon, I will be forced to. I am on Firefox all day every day and am slowly moving up through coding systems.

I am honestly in chock with Firefox's terrible decision of not providing any option for the user to delete downloaded files.

It is honestly amazing that they came up with such a terrible decision. My downloads folder is a complete mess now and there seems to be no way to fix this.

I don't understand why not just provide an option for the user to only open files. People should be able to choose their settings.

I refereed to this previous post and the solution there didn't work: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1370409. By setting browser.download.improvements_to_download_panel to false.

Is there actually no way to only open files now?

Kiosk capability like old Mkiosk add-on? Need suggestions

Ending in 52.X, one of the old add-ons called mkiosk was really wonderful. It had all sorts of configurable options including one that was critical to my free application of Firefox-ESR used by some non-profits. That feature was a timeout such that if the user walked away while not in the "home" web page, a configurable parameter returned firefox to that "home" page. I have not found this feature anywhere else. Unfortunately, installing 52.X on a standalone current bullseye version for the Raspberry Pi is turning out to be problematic. Is there any way to resolve this issue?

Some ideas: 1) Find out how to make Firefox accept an obsolete add-on 2) Fins out how to tell with an external program what page Firefox is on and by periodically polling it, kill and restart Firefox if the time on that page exceeds a certain limit. On the old mkiosk, I set 5 minutes.

Any help here? I'm not a json person so even editing the old mkiosk is beyond me.

While exploring about pages in Firefox, I came across about:profiling. I'm not sure what exactly it does, but since I've been to it, a profiler icon has been added to the toolbar and I can't find any way to get rid of it completely (only ways are to hide it). If it could be added, there must also be a way to remove it? How can I close it?

Windows 10: Alt-tabbing sometimes causes Firefox to freeze momentarily

As far as I can tell, this has something to do with Firefox aggressively offloading stuff from memory to storage. When I alt-tab at times, Firefox completely freezes. Every Firefox window hangs on a single image and I am unable to interact with anything for a few seconds. During these seconds, I can see the memory % in the Windows Task Manager slowly climbing until Firefox unfreezes itself, so it seems to be loading stuff back into memory. For example, it'll climb from 55% to 70%, taking its sweet sweet time. I also see some disk usage with 'System' during this time.

This behavior occurs even when I'm active on the browser and at 50% memory. It seems to occur more often once I hit the 60% memory mark.

I'm almost certain that this is a Firefox-specific issue, because I can interact with any other program during this period. It is only Firefox that stops dead in its track.

Is there a way to make this behavior less aggressive? I'd rather not have my alt-tabs freeze every few minutes.

Have those sites been hacked, is my account compromised, what's going on? I'm not a computer whiz, so I can't follow these lengthy suggestions about which I understand not a bit.

For years I've set the background display color in about:config to a medium gray, #CCCCCC. Main purpose was to change the background color of the about:blank page, which is my home page and my new tab page.

Note I am not overriding colors; #CCCCCC only showed up as the bgcolor for about:blank. Occasionally websites which forgot to specify a background color would show up with a medium gray background, a minor inconvenience and a hint their coding was not so great.

Just realized my background color selection for about:blank isn't working anymore. The background color of the about:blank page is white. Not sure when it changed. I failed to notice when the medium gray disappeared because I have been reflexively pressing the dim screen button. I have vision issues and need to avoid a white screen.

There was a question in 2021 about the about:blank page bgcolor turning white which was archived but does not look resolved.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1344438

Does about:blank now specify a bgcolor, overriding my about:config setting? I still have browser.display.background_color set to #CCCCCC. Do I need to change another value for about:blank now? Thanks for your help.
