i opened firefox (v.95) and tried opening up my email and found that all my saved passwords were gone from firefox on my computer. it said i should crate a firefox account to get my logins back so i did and i still could not access any of my web logins. so i searched the help pages. opened up my profile n made a backup of my key3, key4, n loginjson files, downloaded v.91 firefox esr and copied my key3 file into a new profile.
so i still dont have my web logins ... n now i have an outdated version of firefox with none of my bookmarks either. im sick of troubleshooting n my wifi is almost out for the month.
how do i get my web logins and bookmarks back so i dont have to spend hundreds of hours recreating them?
Firefox updated yesterday to Version 95.0. Has this fixed the double spaced bookmarks fiasco?

My dad is almost 89 years old. He is NOT TECH SAVVY. I have him using a trackball mouse. His hands are HUGE and his fingers are numb.
Somehow, he is inadvertently adding bookmarks to the bookmark bar. I do not know how he is doing this but he'll call and ask me to "put Gmail back on the bar". When I go over, there are a gazillion new bookmarks which pushes his Gmail bookmark beyond the >> spot. I have to delete these umpteen extra bookmarks so that the Gmail bookmark is visible again. Yesterday, I decided to move Gmail to the far left, hoping these accidental bookmarks he creates won't push it off the bar. The bookmarks he "creates" are specific gmail conversations, or facebook pages, or Publisher's Clearing House pages (he LOVES PCH games and plays them constantly).
HOW IS HE DOING THIS? He doesn't know enough to click the star button. He doesn't know about using the Ctrl and D keys to create a new bookmark. It's driving me BATTY. I'm sure he's somehow doing this using his mouse (clicking both right/left simultaneously but not aware of doing so).
Thanks in advance for helping a daughter keep her sanity ...

It is sad, I think, that Mozilla/Firefox is willing to close/archive a thread that is not really solved or has reared its ugly head again in versions since the release of 93 (we are now at 97.0.2). I came to this site and registered because I am still having this issue as of 3/6/2022...arg!
I have tried the 3 recommended solutions, with no affect:
I have, as one article suggested, cleared my cache and cookies, started and restarted Firefox; the only thing I have not tried is removing it from my computer and using Chrome (I'm told it is a better browser anyway) as some responders have eluded to.
I hope that responders like "jscher2000, Kymber" will continue the champion this issue until Mozilla gets it "Really" fixed.
Thanks for listening, Wayne
BTW, heres what my dropdowns look like today 3/6/2022 6:17 PM Arizona time.

Hi,
I got an issue that bookmarks are saved in the library, but this doesn't reflect on the Bookmark toolbar.
I have already removed the entire profile, did a reinstall .. nothing seems to reset it. When I perform a backup, the entries are also in the backup json.
I hope somebody can help, this started happening recently it seems.
Thanks in advance!

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, I am sorry to have to go to such lengths to figure out how I can fix this error. Today I opened up Firefox to watch some simple youtube videos, then I come to realization that all my bookmarks I have are gone. I quickly check up on them to find out that they are still there, which was a relief for me. I searched through multiple different problems and solutions, but none of them worked for me I can try to send you an image of what has now become of my bookmark toolbar. I tried restoring the defaults, as well as restarting my PC, or checking if I have the toolbar visible. I sincerely hope you can help me fix my problem.
Yours sincerely, Oliver Wiechert

Hi! Hope you are well and can help me?!!!
I guess my first problem was buying a refurbished laptop from Best Buy. Anyway, after having to return it the day I received it, because it wouldn't even boot up, it was repaired and returned back to me. I then got it all setup like I wanted, but if it ever hung up, or I needed to reboot because of a software update, or for any reason, it sometimes took several tries because of the hard drive not being found to boot from. Well, after about a year of it doing this(still under warranty), it finally would not boot up at all and I was forced to return it to be repaired. They had to replace the hard drive and did send me the bad one back, so I thought I wouldn't have "anything" since they had to install a new hard drive. Well, I first look to see if any of my old data was there and I was flabbergasted that it was - from what I could tell, everything!!! I don't know if this was from the One drive or like on another browser(Google Chrome) I use, all my bookmarks were there, along with passwords, everything!!! Well, I also use Firefox Mozilla, so after installing it, I was not so happy when it appears that my bookmarks were not retained. Before, I didn't have an account on your browser and I am assuming that is why nothing was retained. I only signed up for an account on your browser today, obviously to send you this help question - hope of finding my old bookmarks and the passwords I had on them. Needless to say, I can recreate them and get new passwords established again, but I sure hope they are still on my laptop "somewhere" that you can help me find them and restore them to your browser. I searched the hard drive for bookmarks and did find a Firefox Mozilla file that looks like a backup file, but even if it is, I don't know how to restore it - but maybe it is just a file I created today only - I just don't know. With this long winded question here, can you Please help me??? Much Thanks in advance!!! Walt Wise

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1291060#question-reply doesn't work (ctrl+shift+b only close my bookmark toolbar)
I only wanted to go there to try to remove all default folder that firefox create by default (on my smartphone, it is always boring to go to computer's bookmark, and personnal bar).
I like to keep Bookmarks in a particular order, not alphabetical, but Firefox keeps sorting them alphabetically. View is set to Unsorted.

Team,
Recently I logged into my Firefox account as to where I had likely over 60 URL favorites fully categorized. It now apparent that I would like to have a systems administrator to see if we could manually look through my history and have my old favorites I have in the system able to restore and shoot back to me. Its worth it as It took 2 weeks to have these favorites created and organized and I am sortof at a work stoppage due to this issue. Anyone ever had this kind of issue escalated or have a techie with mozilla able to restore back something that may have been over-written or over synced and now when I login no longer shows my URLs that I have all categorized and favorite-ed?

I have lost my shortcuts in the TOOLBAR. This happened after I attempted to RESTORE bookmarks from the MANAGE BOOKMARKS - from a BOOKMARKS file from a different PC. The RESTORE ran for a while, then failed with an error message of some sort. Well, I decided to do an END TASK in FILE MANAGER to end Firefox.
Since I had a good copy of my bookmarks file from another PC, I thought I could copy that into the PROFILE directory somewhere, but at that point FILE MANAGER only showed me bookmark files in a BOOKMARKSBACKUP folder.
Rather than guessing where to put the 'good' BOOKMARKS file from my other PC, I decided to just restart Firefox.
After I did, I was pleasantly surprised to see that my bookmarks seemed to be restored ok (previously, there were many duplicates entries, possibly dozens of duplicates for each bookmark - for some reason, that made SEARCHING the bookmarks impossible - I would type on or two characters in the SEARCH box and FIREFOX would hang forever.)
Anyways, I think my Bookmarks might be restored/imported properly (I don't recall which command I used at this point). But, all the shortcuts on the TOOLBAR are missing. And I had dozens.
Is there a way to restore just shortcuts to the TOOLBAR now? (since I think my others are now ok, in the menu.) Should I try the restore again? Can I just copy the bookmarks.JSON, or bookmarks.HTML file, into the PROFILE FOLDER somewhere? Any other solution other than just manually putting the shortcuts back in the toolbar?
Oh, and any idea why I had dozens of duplicate bookmarks, that made the search function impossible? (I don't want that to happen again.)

Hi All!
Greetings and thanks for the best browser in the world!
In the past when I opened the Bookmarks, it opened at the top, "All Bookmarks".
This was the default for decades.
Now, since around update 98.0(?) it opens at the bottom, "Other Bookmarks" and there is no way for me to change it.
I had hoped the Devs would fix it, but the last two minor updates have not.
How do I fix this? Is there a way for me to tweak the "about:config" settings to get it back where it belongs?
Regards,
Mike. P.S. I'm running Firefox 98.0.2 on a Win 7 Desktop and a win 10 Laptop. The issue is the same on both.
