When I click on a PDF attachment in my Gmail account it opens in a pop up window and I can read it fine. If I click download it downloads the file but if I click print it also downloads the file. Can I get Firefox to just print from there or must it be downloaded first?

If I click the downloaded file it starts Acrobat Reader and then I can print it but that seems a little long winded.

Thanks...

  1. Default home page keeps getting reset to "Browser default" every day or two.
  2. The search engine choice keeps defaulting "Browser default" and goes to Yahoo. My preference is Google.

Earlier someone said that one of the Add-ons might be causing this and that i should disable all of them and try. No improvement. It still keeps happening.

I even re-installed FF to no avail.

Can someone help sort this out?

Many thanks.

Fist I would like to participate with Firefox more - I want to become more a part of the community - and add in my consultant expertise Next I would like to suggest several things, but today just one - your Updates

I cannot take this anymore. Every couple weeks there is some update, and it is unacceptable - it disrupts my life. I do not want to restart my computer, I have dozens of documents and files open that I am working on, and this interferes with my daily routines, and as a top activist in your circle u are not yet aware of... its KIND OF important!

Straight up a vast majority of these updates should be released in 'packs' around the start of the month, and then I will not mind, but every couple weeks and the icon to download pops up continuously and then restarts my computer by force - that is MSN bully actions - like come on team... it is annoying as hell!

It's gotta change as it is even more annoying than bookmarks being saved on my home page in the top spots - blank is better than something that is not needed there - the Firefox browser home is a VERY important organizational tool for your members AND is your 'face' to the world that u are not using even at par to help your success.

As for other suggestions I would like to help in the future. Especially when it comes to you guys asking for with emails to get operational capital - I want to help - so I have sent letters in response and received no answers! If the Capitalist Elite will collapse the economy to repurchase everything back at half price, during that time many entities that receive public funding will no longer survive, as the public will be in bread lines.

The time to evolve your community has arrived... contact me for the next levels...

I just updated from Firefox 96 to 98. This introduced the following problems:

  • all known file types were set to "save file" (so I had to go through the whole list and reset it back to "always ask" for like 30+ file types
  • downloading an unknown file type for the first time gets automatically set to "save file" instead of "always ask"

and the most annoying issue:

  • selecting "open with.." in the "always ask"-triggered what-to-do-dialog (e.g. to open a PDF in okular, or an ICA file with citrix) produces a warning popup "<the file> is an executable file. Executable files may contain viruses or other malicious code that could harm your computer. Use caution when opening this file. Are you sure you want to launch" (even for JPG)

I tried closing Firefox, deleting handlers.json, but this behavior did not change.

An apology ahead: I'm a rather naive older www user and an only very occational guest on Mozilla support (though I am an Firefox fan for decades by now). Thus, please, don't hit me if I happen to violate some etiquette or to omitt some important info or so :-).

As to my issue: I'm not a social media person, also; thus I only recently discovered that there might be the option, by now, to leave feedback by email -- i.e. per the 'mail-to' link. By then, I had a laptop with MS Windows 10; and I managed to activate MS Windows Mail: If I click on such an email/mailto link now, Windows Mail opens up a window into my gmail account with my sender address and a lot of proper references -- but, unfortunately, the main field: i.e. the email address of the addressee, stays blank, empty (see attached pic).

I tried 'googeling' the issue, but there seems so many aspect to it (partly how to set-up such a mailto link) that I gave up and turn to you in the Firefox/Mozilla community. Please ask me about anything special you'd need to know about my set-up! I'll be happy to provide this information as good as I can while, as for me, I have not the slightest clue about where the issue could be rooted. Thus, many thanks ahead for every helpful advice or comment!!

How to stop firefox from forcing a new tab for "new" web pages?

Apologies if this is a bit limited, during typing it I ran into the issue I'm about to describe which navigated me away from this page and lost all the progress of my post as I was wrapping up :')

The issue I'm having right now is Firefox forcibly opening pages it thinks are a new site in new tabs, despite the site itself not requesting new tabs or windows. Specifically this is happening with sites between different "iterations" of itself while still being the same and having fully integrated layouts and UI.

For example: Most pages on the site have an update "https://www1" prefix, but some pages have the old "https://" only. Firefox keeps opening new tabs when navigating between these different pages despite them being the same website. I know the pages themselves are not sending new tab requests because this doesn't happen in Chrome.

So far, my "solution" has been to go through about:config to adjust the browser.link.open_newwindow value to 1 instead of 3, which forces all links to stay within the same window. This unfortunately causes a whole host of other issues though.

Because its an override, it also means any links opened from an external program (like discord) forcibly open in the last active tab, navigating away from the page. This is obnoxious and annoying in and of itself because it means to save the tabs I already have open I need to manually open a new tab in FF before clicking any link, which I never remember to do. (Goodbye post progress (': )

If that weren't bad enough, when trying to hit the back button to get to the previous page FF ends up in some sort of weird redirection loop "between" pages, where the last page will disappear but FF won't navigate to the link it was trying to open either, so its just a blank infinitely loading page with the URL of the link that was opened. The only way to stop this from happening is to navigate back 2 pages, losing the current page, before it starts the redirect loop. If the loop starts before this happens, the tab locks up and needs to be hard-refreshed with f5 or completely closed due to the weird lag it causes.

Literally all I want Firefox to do here is not assume a new tab needs to be opened just because the URL "seems" different to it. Is there ANY way to get this behavior?

It always used to work, and I don't remember changing any settings. I want to use Firefox and Bing Rewards, but if it won't let me log into my Microsoft Account I can't access Bing Rewards! I don't want to use Edge, I have always preferred Firefox. What's going on?! Thanks for any help, Dave

I am unable to livestream video services from a monastery in the UK. I have clicked into the little shield at the left end of the web address bar in order to turn off the enhanced protection, but this does not have any effect, even though the website shows up as having had the protection disabled. I don't know whether I need to do anything in Firefox settings.

I was advised to use Google Chrome, and that browser does let me enter, but I prefer to stay with Firefox for all my browsing. I am an elderly person, and have to work harder than my children and grandchildren to keep up-to-date. If you could help me with some very clear instructions with the minumum of technical jargon I would be most grateful. I submit below a screenshot of what I see on the site despite the protection having been switched off on the little shield.
