I woke up this morning to my home directory having been remounted as read-only (it has its own dedicated hard drive at /dev/sdd1). I ran e2fsck and things looked good, so I restarted and things were fine again.

However, whenever I open Firefox, it hangs for about 1 full minute before it goes haywire and renders the entire system essentially unusable since being able to access my home directory is vital. The following is visible in dmesg:

All other programs that I use daily do not cause this issue. No clue what to do here. LibreWolf works fine - that's what I'm using now that Firefox breaks everything and basically forces me to restart if I want to use my computer normally.

Hi, the site "https://pixabay.com/" is suddently extremely slow with mozilla. The pictures don't showup or take many minutes before you can see them. Normally only white boxes show. The same site (pixabay) with the browser "Opera" works perfectly. I always use mozilla and since a short while it just doesn't work with pixabay (a site for royalty-free images). In seeking a way to reduce the CPU & RAM usage, I read that perhaps turning on the Hardware Acceleration might help. And to do that, you must first de-select the default setting which says FF will use the best settings for my computer. Well, when I opened that section, neither one was checked! So, should I first try the default setting, and if that doesn't help, then try HA? I'd always heard not to use HA, for some reason, but I'm ready for trying anything that might help use less resources, and open webpages more consistently.

Which is the best setting to use, or neither one?

I visted a web site once and left after trying to watch a some movies without any success. Now my firefox are sending notification to my deasktop from this website. But the site is no longer opened in my browser. I tried to to run the antivirus but nothing was found. I checked for any extension and nothing as well. The notification are coming from the firefox itself and I dont know why. And I dont know how to stop it.

This problem started yesterday. Whenever I try to connect to a website, I'm met with an error saying "Secure Connection Failed", each time with a different error code. Dropout.tv gives me PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR, Netflix gives me SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG, DuckDuckGo gives SSL_ERROR_RX_UNEXPECTED_APPLICATION_DATA. This doesn't happen with any website owned by Google, such as YouTube, Google Docs, etc. I don’t know if there are any others that it manages to connect to, but those are the observations I've made. What can I do?

This problem began a couple days ago. I have no problem accessing other sites on Firefox (and none for this site over years of use.) Can access site on Safari without problem.

My pc auto updated today and now I am getting this message "ERROR: Platform version 127.0.02 is not compatible with min/max version 127.0.1" I CANNOT go back to older version as there is none, when using the tool from FireFox.

Only withing my firefox browser search bar, and in the last updates for about 2 years; I can no longer, continuous spacing a word forward. Even right now on this page, I can continous space-forward a word within a sentence, while I'm writing. And this feature is important, when in your thought process. So is their a fix towards this problem; And what are the steps to permanently keep this from happening again ?

Almost daily I get a message to download or dismiss update. When I dismiss the message, it continues to pop up. When I hit download, nothing happens. This is locking up my computer at times & slowing everything down. I actually don't see the need for daily updates. What is causing this and how can I stop it?

i posted a crash question yesterday and got an email asking me to post these the time is the same i assume because i hit "submit" at the same time for all of them i'm posting blind here because there was no link in the email back to my original post - maybe something else that should be fixed

Firefox keeps going off for from 5 seconds to about 20 seconds. It happens several times a minute. The screen goes blank and I can’t click on anything. Really aggravating. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

I have been having consistent issues with Youtube when played on Firefox. Opening the "Stats for Nerds", I see that I have decent connection speed. However, I get a burst of network activity, and then it stops. Therefore, i can't watch the video. Refreshing Youtube does not help at all.

Trying on other browsers, I do not have issue. While I sometimes get low network activity, most often than not, I can play Youtube videos fine.

I have done the following:

• Confirmed that I'm running the latest Firefox version (127.0.0)
• Cleared Firefox cache
• Confirmed having issue (sometimes worse as I get no network activity even on refresh) on Firefox Troubleshoot mode

three weeks ago the Babbel playback gave me all shortened responses. Like I would hear "respon" instead of response. I switched over to Microsoft Edge. After first bad response all subsequent responses were normal--fully sounded.

After auto update this error message came up and will not allow Firefox to open. Earlier in the day it had also updated ( not sure to what version) and was working fine. Laptop was then shut down and turned off for aprox. 1 hr. I then turned it back on and tried to open Firefox and it again asked to allow Firefox to make changes to my computer to which I clicked Yes. It then would not open and this error came up. error message Platform version 127.0.2 is not compatible with minVersion >=127.0.1 maxVersion <= 127.0.1
