How to disable all and any keyboard shortcuts in Firefox.

Firefox shortcuts are annoying, counterproductive, and exceptionally intrusive, slowing or in general preventing me to do any useful and meaningful work.

the f*ck Mozilla, i do not give a sh*t about your keyboard shortcuts, i do not give f*ck about your keyboard shortcuts, if pressing ctrl+V involves another function, killing my productivity, when writing updates to customer.s it is industry established standard the ctrl+v is paste and this is the only thing Firefox should be doing. give us easy to access and easy to manage settings in Firefox for US to choose which shortcuts we want, if we want any.

I manage thousands of IP cameras across different sites that display this warning message every time the website is visited. This warning requires additional time spent to dismiss and continue with the login. I want to bypass this warning by any means neccessary for all websites because importing the certificates for each device is not feasible. I heard this is no longer an option that is supported in firefox, which is strange for a browser that was supposed to be the "android" of the web, yet doesn't allow the user to customize the experience beyond disabling updates and customizing the toolbar.

Had to reload windows11 due to issues. Downloaded and installed Firefox. Can't find a way to place the icon to "always use private browsing" on the task bar. I do have the icon on the task bar for Firefox but I want it to always open a private page. I've set things like "Never Remember History" but no icon appears. I have the icon on another laptop but cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get the right link to put it in permanent private browsing. I've searched the keywords and previous questions but nothing seems to directly answer.

Hi!

Is it possible to configure firefox so that when I right click image and choose view image info it would not request that image again from server but rather look it up from already downloaded resource? In some cases it can be a problem or even deal breaker if that feature has to make new request just re-download what has already been downloaded.

The Keeper Password Manager Extension for Firefox is supposed to have a "switch" to turn on the "auto logoff" feature. This, at least, is what the Keeper website says. I have looked at the Keeper extension in Firefox (and made sure it was the current version) but I cannot find any reference to auto logoff. I would like to be able to use this feature (as I am able to do in Chrome.) Any insight to this?

I used Chrome for ages, and migrated to Firefox. The spell check on Chrome has an option to give use the internet to offer suggestions on spelling corrections.

The option is now called "Enhanced Spell Check" and it states that it uses the same spell checker that's used in Google Search.

Something similar would be helpful in Firefox as the built in Spell Checker is rather lacking and seems to fail often on newer or more rarely used words. Sometimes it just completely fails.

For example: I wrote: "hipocritical" Firefox's suggestion: "theocracy" Chromes "enhanced" suggestion: 'hypocritical"

I use firefox to display markdown. Vim with a plugin from github (iamcco/markdown-preview.nvim) to renders the markdown. I have focus under mouse and I keep the mouse in vim all the time. But still I need to click the button every time a new tab with markdown is created in Firefox. Firefox steels the focus and my typing is transported to Firefox instead of to the editor.

So, How can I disable Firefox form steeling focus from vim when a new tab is created?

I'm on linux: manjaro-kde. Firefox 110.0 (64-bit) Mozilla Firefox for Manjaro Linux Manjaro -1.0

BTW. thanks for a great browser, that is highly customizable and that you still let me use ublock origin :)

Quire: "turn off "the new tabs whac-a-mole" firefox add on"

Yes, enabled, and downloaded one, or more tabs related add-ons. I believe I did this in the 3 months, some new controls became active, and soon disappeared. I In the 2,3 weeks, I prompted to enable, or install a Tab function that make tabs from other Firefox windows, appear in other/all Firefox windows!!

For me, I generally have 10+ Firefox windows open, each with categorical purpose.

The "two random adjacent TABS more thing" is MADNESS!

I looked around my setting desktop, BUT I DO NOT SEE ANY TABS ADD-ON'S.

After like, a Zillion SYSTEM Window CRASHES, maybe the TABS ADD-ON'S, are just demons lurking in the registry ... ??

What are the names of TABS ADD-ON'S, and/or other ADD-ON'S, and Where can I find the settings for the them??

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!

Hi everybody,

I would like to create new firefox profiles which are preloaded with extensions of my choosing. This is for my own personal use - I am not an enterprise user. My OS is NixOS / linux.

I followed part of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/deploying-firefox-with-extensions where

  • Created a folder (/tmp/ff)
  • Created an "extensions" folder within that (/tmp/ff/extensions)
  • Downloaded uBlock Origin into the "extensions folder
  • Renamed .xpi to the "$id.xpi" (/tmp/ff/extensions/uBlock0@raymondhill.net.xpi)
  • Started firefox (firefox --no-remote --profile /tmp/ff/)

Unfortunately, I was asked whether I wanted to accept the installation of the extension (see image), but I would like the extension to be active when opening the new profile. One can easily see that were I to add 10 extensions, it would be a nuisance to click through the list of extensions and activate them every time I created a new profile.

Hence my question: how can one create profiles with active extensions?

When I try to open a new instance of Firefox on my laptop, it continually opens in an extra small window in the upper left corner of the screen. I cannot drag the corner of the window to enlarge it. The icon to switch between windowed/maximized actually shows that it is already maximized. If I click the icon, the window stays the same size, but seems to have restored normal window function (I can manually drag the corner to resize it). If I click the icon a second time, it finally maximizes and has normal maximized window behavior. Opening a second instance of Firefox does not have this problem, but every time I exit the program completely and then open it again, I have to click the window icon twice to get it to maximize.

I've seen this question asked in other ways but the answer never seems to be a solution to my issue. I just bought a new computer, Windows 11. I downloaded Firefox, I have the menu bar active at the top of the Firefox browser so I'm seeing, FILE EDIT HISTORY BOOKMARKS TOOLS HELP. If I bookmark a webpage, in the past I was always able to left click on BOOKMARKS and a drop down list of all my bookmarks would appear. Now, that is not happening. THIS IS THE REASON I USE FIREFOX! Chrome and Edge both make it a pain in the neck to access bookmarks. I want this ability back, why aren't my bookmarks showing up when I left click on bookmarks like it always has?

I am using Firefox 110.0.1 on my Mac running High Sierra 10.13.6. I did an Onyx clean up and an now when I go to use the search bar on the toolbar none of my search choices will display. Once I key in whatever I am searching for the search choices will sort flicker quickly on and off, but not display long enough for me to select one. Only when I hold down the Command Key will the choices appear for me to select one.

Also, if I type an long entry into search bar and then go to edit or modify the entry, I cannot scroll forward to the end or beginning of the entry. Using the < or > will take the cursor only to the beginning or end of the visible text and no to the true beginning or end of what is in the box

In recent times, it seems Youtube videos only buffer about a minute or two of video; that's it. I have a decent internet connection, so it's usually not a problem. But if there's any kind of disruption - say, for example, if I run the microwave for more than a minute - it causes the video to stop.

It seems we used to be able to buffer entire Youtube videos at one time. But now, for some reason, I can't get more than about a minute or so.

There are plenty of old articles about certain settings that might work. However, none of their recommendations work. The main one is setting media.cache_readahead_limit and media.cache_resume_threshold to high values. This doesn't work anymore.

Another suggestion was to set media.mediasource.enable to false. This increases the buffered amount, but has the side effect of SEVERELY limiting video quality, and can cause playback problems.

I just don't understand why Youtube won't buffer more than about a minute worth of video. I don't even need it to load complete videos; I just want a little bit more than 1 minute worth of buffer.
