Hi, I work in GNU/Linux + Gnome with several tabs (around 100). They have different context (research, personal, related to a course, and work; are some examples). I use several windows with several tabs each. I would like to have one group per window, to be able to close a window and not losing the tabs it had, (to close all the windows and be able to reopen them).

I cannot find a way to organize my tabs in such a way that windows don't isolate their tabs. There are plenty of add-ons to group tabs. But all of them end up hiding/unhiding the tabs of only the current window.

It looks that the underlying architecture is this: OS has Firefox. Firefox has Windows. Windows have tabs. Tabs are manageable only in the window they belong to.

Therefore, every window is only aware of its own group of tabs.

What I am looking for is a different approach, or at least the illusion of it: OS has Firefox Firefox has Tabs. Tabs are manageable, from any instance of a window.

Therefore, the window is only a viewer that is aware of all the tabs.

The plug-ins: Panorama Tab Group, Simple Tab Groups, and similar work a bit, but if I open a new window, and do some browsing, the old window does not know anything in the new window.

Is there a setting/plugin that can solve this problem? maybe I am missing some setting or I just don't know how to use the plugins... Thanks for your time. Best

I am on a metered connection. Updates chew up my data, and I want to CHOOSE when to use that data for updates. There is no toggle in the configuration screen that would allow me to turn off automatic updates, and setting the preference via about:config hasn't worked. I am very irritated by this. It's my computer, it's my browser, and I don't like being forced to do what someone else has decided I should do just because they thought it would be a good idea. If I can't find a way to turn off auto updates then I'll abandon Firefox for something more user-friendly.

During video playback or audio playback, the volume in my sound mixer will suddenly be lowered to below 80% inexplicably. This happens constantly. And I can in fact make it do it by putting a video back, for example. It appears to be whenever the sound element of firefox is stopped and started it will reset itself, today to around 71%, but other days or instances to 85%.

No other apps on my system are having this issue, so I'm not sure where to begin!

Thanks in advance for any ideas..

Any ideas what could be causing this quite bizarre issue?

Firefox in Windows 10 will not play any audio produced from sites on the internet. Firefox internet audio works fine when I boot into Linux. All other browser that I use, Chrome, Opera, Windows (whatever it is called, I rarely use it) present no internet audio problems. Firefox is my default browser in both OSs, but I will have to move to an alternate until I can get this issue resolved. Thanks.

I'm running Ubuntu 16.04, and every time I start firefox, it gives me the "Choose User Profile" prompt, even with "Use the selected profile without asking on startup" selected. My about:profiles has only one profile (which is set to default), and both my profiles.ini file and installs.ini file contain only that profile. The profiles.ini file also has StartWithLastProfile=1. It's not really that big a deal, but it is annoying and any help would be appreciated.

Hi.

I have "Ctrl+Tab cycles through tabs in recently used order" setting turned on and it's behaving strangely.

When I hit CTRL+Tab firefox shows a strange window with small previews of the six most recent tabs. If I need to switch to the 7th most recent tab, I can't. When I hit CTRL+Tab 7 times, firefox opens the "List all tabs" dropdown with all my tabs.

How do I: - Disable the window with the tab previews? - Disable and remove "List all tabs" dropdown? - Just let CTRL+Tab switch my most recent tabs, all of them?

Hello!

When I open a new tab (about:home), autofocus is transferred to the address bar. I need to click on something to remove focus. I want to disable this behavior.

After searching the Internet, I came across only similar problems, but without solutions. I did not find anything in about:config.

Is there a way to disable this autofocus without patches and extensions?

I see that at some point, probably the latest Firefox update, nearly all addons are disabled, and have no ability to re enable. Just as an example, "Downthemall". The "..." menu only has remove or report. Same for Adblock plus, back is close, dozens of others. Go to the page, eg https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/downthemall/ and install turns into "enable" which does nothing as well.

There's a page I'm viewing in full screen mode, which has buttons at the top of the page (First image). If I'm not careful and move the cursor to the top of the page, the address & tabs bars will appear and push everything down away from my cursor (second image). Is there some way to prevent this? I want full screen to be like in the first picture *at all times*, always hiding the top bars, even if I bring the cursor to the top of the screen.

I am using Firefox 71.0 (64-bit) for Linux Mint.
