I have set Firefox Developer Edition (Windows 10 20H2 & 21H2 and Ubuntu 18.04 & 20.04 installations, always kept up to date), to use English (United Kingdom) settings in preferences. I have installed the UK Dictionary and made it the default for spellchecking. The Windows installation is also supposed to be respecting the OS regional settings. Firefox seems to be totally disregarding the settings and always giving me US as the location and US English for the spellcheck. This has been an issue for months if not years. I understand that many pages will be US biased, that is not a problem. The problems are that my country preference is being detected as US, and that I can not seem to get Firefox to actually use the UK Dictionary. I can supply additional information as required

I like to mute all of my tabs so they don't play annoying sounds. However a very annoying mute icon appears when I hover over it and the "muted" text is shown under the name. I tried adding to my userChrome.css:

@namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul); .tab-icon-overlay[muted], .tab-icon-sound[muted] {

 display: none !important;

}

This only removes the muted icon, and when I hover over a tab its favicon disappears. I also tried changing browser.tabs.showAudioPlayingIcon as suggested in [answer] but it isn't an option anymore.

How do I remove it completely without changing the context menu item?

Time is passing, new versions releasing, but problem are same. Firefox 71 had a good looking colored cleartype. Fonts was clear and pretty. I tried many gfx.font_rendering.cleartype_params, but nothing is working.

My browser updated to 96.0 (64-bit) about an hour ago. I've been running the Cheshire cat Theme for a long time now without it making the entire browser turn Dark (I just like what it did to the Tab bar and the Menu Bar). It didn't effect anything else -- not the Menus themselves and certainly not any webpages. But since the update--the Menus, the Firefox Home page, the Settings page, and even the Google search results pages--all have been showing up in Dark Mode. I switched around other themes I have and noticed that only the themes that are light in color stop everything from going dark.

It's a minor thing but I would really like to keep my set up as it was. I would really appreciate some help.

Before installing FF 96 today, I looked at the description of the changes here:

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/96.0/releasenotes/

That seemed straightforward: nothing that would change the browser UI.

But when I upgraded, I found that in fact there were changes to the margins and borders of the .tab-background class in browser.css, which took some time to debug and to counteract with my userChrome.css. Not the end of the world, but if I had known, I would have held off the upgrade for a few days so I could work out the userChrome changes at my leisure.

Is there a way that I can see a fuller changelog in future before taking an upgrade, so I know what the impact is likely to be?

Every time I start Firefox it (correctly) starts google. But every time google is called up it asks whether I accept a load of stuff. Whatever I answer (normally "accept") It still asks the same question next time. Is the answer being stored somewhere where Firefox deletes it? - so Google has to ask again?

Until yesterday everything I customized for Firefox 89 in June of 2021 and FF 91 in August of 2021 was working fine.

Today I updated to Firefox 96.0 and when I open my Firefox returned to that old visual that I hated

tabs with spaces , but that's not the worst. The worst is the newTab visual that came back to the small and ugly bookmarks of the page we usually navigate. That are set on userContent.css I remember.

I checked some vars at about:config and everything is as it was.

So do I need to set true or false any new var there? These .css files are like they was never read. It looks like to me there is a new var, we need to change it.

What did happen?

Hey, I my FF just updated to the latest version and all was going fine and dandy for a little while. I've noticed FF hogging a bit more resources lately but that might be unrelated / more to do with changes to twitch or the like but I feel I should mention it.

After about 20-30 minutes of browsing, checking my emails etc the browser responded as if it lost connection. I did the general troubleshoot run on my network which came back with no issues found, no other program on my computer had any problems with internet connectivity. But just to be sure I checked all the wires and restarted the modem.

Now FF starts loading webpages but then get stuck partway and just stands grinding its gears. I'm currently using chrome to try and find a solution / write this and it works without problem.

I currently have all 3(!) of my extensions disabled and it has changed nothing. I do notice that in the general settings tab in FF it does seem to be "Checking for updates" continuously.

This is extremely annoying, please help me fix this asap!

I am trying to increase the size of the font of our bookmarks on our MacBook Air laptop as they are hard to read on the smaller screen. I tried "zoom" and increasing font size in settings but that did not affect the bookmarks sidebar; only the primary web pages. I tried an add-on but could not get it to work. I did a few online searches and it appears to be a common issue but I could not find a solution so I thought I'd ask a question. Thanks for any advice that you can provide.
