Can't pinpoint the date, but a while back Youtube won't play videos anymore. It just shows a black screen in the player. Not even the player UI (pause button, volume, settings menu) shows. Just a black portion of the screen. Now when I went in to get a screenshot, it doesn't even show the black box.

I am having two problems, both related to downloading files only on Firefox, these issues don't occur on other browsers when downloading the same files.

The first issue is that when downloading a file from Google Drive, the download always fails. It opens up a menu asking me where to save the file but the files name is "download" with no extension, when starting the download it will fail. In the images below you can see what it looks like. This happens with most files on Google Drive, usually those larger than 50MB (a VERY rough estimate). Both in the default tab and in the container tabs I use.

The second issue is very similar, when downloading a file, this time from anywhere on the web, when asking me where to save the file, the name of the download is a string of random letters and numbers with no extension. When starting the download it fails because the name is too long, after renaming it to something shorter it still fails. I don't really have any sites I can give as examples because this problem only occurs randomly.

For both problems I have tried attaching the correct filename and extension but it still fails.

This [previous question] previous question is archived, but it exactly describes and explains the problem: when only pinned tabs are open when Firefox closes, then on startup - when restoring the previous session is enabled - the previous session is restored and a new tab is created. That's a gist of an html file that will automatically close the tab it's in. It does involve using about:config, so use appropriate caution. Just set that to be your "homepage" in the Firefox settings and the new tab will likely disappear before you even notice it. You can tweak the delay if it's not fast enough or you want to savor the impending doom of the offending tab.  :)

Some months back when I get gmail from the Economist and try to go to an article the gmail links to I get this: Our apologies. An error seems to have occurred. The article actually appears very briefly but then gets overwritten by this error message. I am using an up to date Windows 10 PC.

When I go to Microsoft Edge this behavior does not occur. In Firefox I have tried clearing the data and cache but to no avail.

Any thoughts on dealing with this? I do not want to go through many heroic steps to fix this.

i have left message on the community form regarding a issue with clearing history as its not letting me clear everything as soon as i click on it freezes up & not working can sort it out

2ndly its hard to get in touch with your crap support line can you also make it easier to get hold of your team rather going through 1000x pages, why is everybody not keeping any proper contact information you and google are same [edited]. exceptionally down the drain support. [edited] sort it out. or else i have to take further action.

Greetings, a couple of weeks ago I started getting a black page with the message that is the title of this question, "We can’t connect to the server at www.googleadservices.com." when I click results from a web search and even clicking on links from within pages I already have open. This has happened in the past but only once in a while and isolated incidents. However right now my browsers are almost useless because of it. It started with Firefox as it is usually my default browser so I switched to Chrome and then Edge and now they are all doing it. I have posted a query in Windows forums and Microsoft help because it is with all my browsers but I am also posting in the individual browsers' help sections as well to get as much info on this as possible because it's really frustrating me and I want it fixed. I'm only able to visit 1 out of maybe every 25 pages I try to click on from any of my browsers!

Apologies if I haven't described this very well. After loading a page on Firefox, loading the next one and any further ones could just be typed over the previous one as many times as you needed. Not any more, if I try typing in a new address nothing happens and I have to cancel and load Firefox again. Never used to be like this, can anyone help please?

Firefox locking up today 07/31/2024 - won't compose send email in Yahoo/AT&T; only loads half a page of AOL News. Yes, I've done a restart. Chrome seems not to have this issue.

Hello. Recently I've noticed video quality has been reduced on amazon prime video. I get a message saying my hardware doesn't meet HDCP requirements.

I've already tried playing the same video on edge, and the quality selector was fine there, full HD video.

Whenever I click my mouse somewhere blank on a webpage firefox will always select some text/image despite being nowhere close to it. This does not happen to me on chrome.

Hi. For the past few months I have been unable to play samples from the Audible website in Firefox on my android phone. When I click the word "Sample" Audible opens up a new tab with their Web player and I always get an error message that is just a rectangular box with an exclamation mark inside a triangle on the left side of the box. (Screenshot attached.) There are no words inside the box and the only option is to close the tab. Since there is no actual message I'm not sure what the problem is.

Playing samples used to work fine when you could play them within their web page before Audible changed its system. I seem to be able to play samples on Audible's Web player in Chrome, but would prefer to keep Firefox as my default browser. I have tried deleting all history, cookies and cache; closing and reopening Firefox; turning phone off and starting again after an hour. I've also tried enabling autoplay, but that made no difference. I was thinking that the issue may be with my other settings within Firefox, but I can't tell. Any help you can provide would be great. Thank you!

I tried the troubleshooting mode, which turns off all the add-ons. Despite that, my Firefox still lags. For example, when I click on a new tab, it takes a couple of seconds to open. When I am typing, it takes a few seconds every now and then to catch up. Additionally, when I am scrolling, it will be unresponsive for a couple of seconds before jumping to where I supposedly scrolled to. I am using Mint Linux Firefox 128.0.3. Since the auto-update to version 128.0.3 (64-bit) two weeks ago, my Firefox crashes as soon as I switch over to a different programme. I am on Windows 10. Whenever I try to re-open the programme, I get the error message that Firefox is already running and if I want to restart or quit. Can you please deploy a fix for this? Thank you.

I noticed today that there's a small blue cube appears at the tip of the mousecursor inside a firefox window , I guess it's some keyboard shortcut I accidentally activated but can't find any info on where to disable

the bookmarks menu won't list alphabetically. I have gone to manage bookmarks and chose sort A to Z. It will sort right then, but when I exit that menu it goes right back to not alphabetical

Hello. Since re-installing ZoneAlarm Security Suite (due to a ZA problem) last evening, after I turned on my pc today I am getting a new tab opens up on every FireFox browser window seeking permissions for "Harmony Web Protection Privacy Policy". (There are four new tabs for that which have opened since I commenced typing this!).

Is this a ZA problem or a Firefox problem? Also, please, how do I get rid of these damned new tabs? TIA.
