When I try to download a software up date for another program in Binary File (eg. C Cleaner or a Microsoft file) in Firefox they all just come up in the download window as 'Canceled'? When I go to the destination folder the download file icon is there with 0 Kb's for size...Then when I click 'RETRY' the download it appears to download fully, but when I go into the destination folder the downloaded file is not there? I need to know if there is something in the Firefox options to resolve this problem or much more!!

I had to do a parallel installation of my OS (XP Pro) after McAfee damaged the original. I've re-installed Firefox but would like to recover my bookmarks. The old files are still on my C: drive. For a couple of weeks after a short time of use dropdown menus are blank almost as if they have been lifted off the screen but I can see an imprint of where they should be.. Sometimes running the cursor over them seems to make them appear but not often. When this happens I cannot close Firefox.

When clicking external links (from Emails, Twitter Client, Messenger/Skype windows), if Firefox is closed it will open two windows; One with my homepage and a second with the actual link. However, if firefox is open, the external link will just open in a new tab as instructed.
It was reported a while back (https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/560561?s=clicking%20external%20link%20opens%20up%20two%20windows&as=q) however, the questions seems to be 'solved' with someone saying they have the same problem.
