For years I have clicked on the clear history, clear data and manage data on the settings page in privacy and security--directly after leaving every website, just to be sure...now nothing is happening when I click on them. FF is up to date and nothing is different (that I know of).

Since the settings haven't given that option for years, the best way to have a local file as the new tab page was using autoconfig.cfg + autoconfig.js, as described in this thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1251199 But since the most recent update (v136.0), this stopped working.

The New Tab Override add-on has its own issues with using local files (can only load a .html file, no local CSS/JS, can't give a blank address bar for me to search in), so it doesn't solve the issue either.

This is very important to me, and others have been asking for this feature back for years. It feels awful to have the working solution stop working, in the browser that's supposed to be open and customizable.

I'm afraid I cannot continue using Firefox, after the last change, since I can no longer keep my tabs open after closing a session, as I specified in the settings: "Open previous windows and tabs." Can someone help?

Firefox claims does NOT save site/URL visit information while in Private Mode. And I thought that was true. However, I just discovered that Firefox DOES SAVE Private Mode URL/Site visits - in this specific place. I don't know how long the history will be saved - it looks like at least as long as the Window is open. I want to keep most of my open Private Tabs open - but want to Delete/Clear the ones I'm done with. I thought/understood that Private window/tab/visit info was not tracked/saved - and it's not saved in History, or Searchable. But it appears that this doesn't apply to the Recently Closed Tabs MenuItem. And there seems to be NO 'delete' or 'clear' option for this field. I can't find any reference to the subject in the Forum or Articles. The picture I've attached is NOT of the Recently Closed Tabs while in Private Browsing, but is the same MenuItem and field contents. Thanks for your interest. I'm hoping someone can help me figure out how to delete/clear this specific history.

Firefox is no longer saving all my history. OR, I can't find it. I can't find it because: HISTORY/SHOW ALL HISTORY is now only showing "today". This occurred with v133, but I do not know if it occurred with any given update. I updated to 134.0.1. That did not fix problem. I have not tried regressing.

In the past, I was able to save YEARS of history (although I sometimes created a new profile to restart the history file due to its size).

1. I was using the "DYNAMIC HISTORY" addon, which worked fine for years. When I found Firefox was showing only the current days' history, I disabled that addon. Didn't fix anything.

2. "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" option IS NOT SELECTED. NEVER HAS BEEN

3. OTHER SETTINGS: no - Always use private browsing mode yes - Remember browsing and download history yes - Remember search and form history NO - Clear history when Firefox closes

any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. I am also baffled: googling this problem comes up empty handed.

w11 on laptop. Cleaned PC using CCleaner. Restarted windows. Launched Firefox and only 1 tab with calendar opened. Went to History but no indication of the previous session available. ?

I have searches from a year (or more) ago that are still popping up and I don't know why. I have done multiple clears of my entire history and individually removed old searches when they pop up - they still keep coming back.

I use the Zen browser and I can't use ctrl+shift+c to view the element, I deleted the shortcut specified in the settings for copying the page URL so that the inspector would work, but it doesn't work, although the correct shortcut is indicated when hovering, but it doesn't work

I want to know how to go back to the previous page when i hit the back button on the navigation bar instead of going all the way to the original start page, I have trie suggestions like the Backspace ket and the left arrow key but they don't work. would like to know if i can get it to work like it used to.

Problem: Cannot clear history from Firefix Started with Menu and clear recent history. Looked everyplace there was information about history. Tried removing individual entries. Ran Malwarebytes. Dell XPS 8960 with Windows 11 less than one year old. No response with any steps I take. Also, there are no error messages. I am unable to clear history no matter which tools I use. No error messages. All the suggestions I tried had no effect. Used Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox.

Oddly, I tried my older Dell Inspiron 3650, with Windows 10, and clear history works like it should. 

Used Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox. So far, all the advice goes down the same path; history, clean recent history, manage history, etc.. Tried refreshing and today I deleted Firefox app and reloaded. No improvement. Last week I went through the process of choosing a profile so I would not be faced with choosing whenever firefox opened. ( I was guided through the process by some of you elders.) My bookmarks are all in place but that history no longer accumulates, not even during the session I am in. I must have hit something without knowing it. I have gone up and down settings on several levels, but I can't figure out what will make this work again. It is helpful to have this reference so I would appreciate help. all of a sudden my firefox "home page" is being filled up with icon of web searches! I spend time having to delete each one. why did this start and how do I stop it? I'm going to go back to windows edge if this is the grief I'm going to get on mozilla/firefox

I don't fully remember when this happened, but lately the browser has trouble clearing my search history even though I had it set so that it does so every time I close it. I only managed to fix it by making it so that it doesn't remember the search history, but some of the old searches are still there whenever I punch in part of what I was searching.

My firefox is not recalling the history as I move through tabs. It doesn't appear in the sidebar or in the documented history. This only has happened recently, and it's still recognizing my bookmarks. I've done some troubleshooting, tried relaunching in the mode while switching through tabs, but it's still not recalling. Any help is appreciated.
