I have noticed over the last few days (roughly since this weekend) that Firefox is not loading any Web pages. I don't seem to have any trouble on other browsers (currently on Microsoft Edge to post this), and it only seems to be on my home laptop.

I don't get an error message or anything like that. It just takes its sweet time loading any links or URL's. Sometimes, the tab or page acts like it's buffering. Sometimes, the address bar doesn't even show that I've typed in a URL after I've hit Enter. Most of the time, I just have a blank white screen.

I have tried refreshing Firefox, I tried restarting my device once or twice, I've put Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode more times than I can count at this point. I've even un-installed and re-installed Firefox twice now in the last few days. Nothing seems to solve the issue.

Hi there,

I have a remote job that requires me to swiftly do online searches and send emails. Firefox is my preferred browser, but sadly I notice that it tends to sometimes be slow in loading pages. Any ideas for how I can improve it, or how Firefox can improve its performance on my machine? Here's info to help you troubleshoot:

--I always download the most recent Firefox updates when prompted. --My machine is a Lenovo with a lot of memory running on Windows 11 (I think), so the machine itself runs really fast on other browsers, such as Google Chrome. --Firefox seems to be slowest in the afternoon, which puzzled me. --I'm connected to the internet via high-speed cable, not slow WiFi.

Thank you for any help you can provide!

Best regards, Suzanne [edited email from public support forum]

Hello, Yesterday I opened Firefox and found that websites were loading very slowly, to the point where some websites would time me out. This is only occurring on Firefox, I checked Microsoft Edge, and Google Chrome, they both worked fine. I am running Windows 10, and the latest version of Firefox I have run a clean reinstall and still no dice.

The last few weeks in particular Firefox has bogged down and will not load webpages. I have to close and restart to get it to work at all. I have used Firefox for 20 years as my preferred browser and have never experienced anything like this. I am a MacBook Pro user who is not a google fan so I try to avoid Chrome but have had to use Chrome to get access to things while Firefox is floundering.

I've had Firefox as my main browser on my Macbooks for over 20 years. It is becoming increasingly frustrating working on something and realizing the computer is slowing down when loading websites, only to realize there is yet another update that requires the restarting of the browser. This is especially annoying when on a Zoom meeting for instance, and trying to open a website.

I usually have 80+ tabs open across 4-5 windows. When restarting the browser, I now have to open each tab to log into whatever site I was in.

Why does Firefox have to do SOOOOOOO many frequent updates that require restarting the browser, and why does it have to slow down your computer when there is an update?

It's like you have no choice but to update it. Would it be possible to NOT slow down your computer, but give some kind of notification, say by email, when there is an important update?

SUPER FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apologies in advance if I use terminology incorrectly.

I've had this strange but intermittent issue for a while (through multiple Firefox versions) where pages will take a long time to load. I haven't timed loads exactly but I can confidently say it's a minimum of 10 seconds. The problem with diagnosing this issue is it's very intermittent; I can go hours or on a rare occassion days without it happening (I think, maybe I've just not registered some of the times it's happened). I have yet to try disabling all addons because of this.

Random quirks about the issue:

  • It only happens on navigation to a new domain (or to a domain from a new tab). Once a domain has loaded, I don't have an issue on said domain for a while.
  • It isn't tab specific. I can open a new tab in the same window and they will both take the same amount of time to load, often finishing at the exact same time.
  • While waiting for a page to load, I can open a Private Browsing window, paste the URL, and the page will load immediately without issue in the Private Browsing window. This does not affect the page being loaded in the main window.
  • I believe it has occurred immediately after a system restart, thus I don't believe it is related to long-running sessions.

The addons I have that don't also run in Private Browsing are:

like the title says, usually at least once a day firefox will just stop loading web pages entirely. more specifically, it gets stuck loading any page infinitely. occasionally if i wait long enough things will start loading again, but usually that time never comes and i have to restart the browser. i'm kind of a tab hoarder so restarting the browser can be annoying in itself, since i have to wait for the browser to load. i'm not really sure how to troubleshoot this with extensions and the like since i haven't noticed any trend in when the problem occurs. weirdly enough, it happened while i was typing this and while every other website fails to load, the mozilla support site is consistently fine. any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Firefox Support Team, Hello I am a Firefox user in mainland China. I'm experiencing slow webpage opening (all webpages) with Firefox, and the problem persists after disabling the doh setting on Firefox as described on Firefox support. So I tried to change the doh settings on the OS (my OS is Windows 11, which supports doh settings on the OS), when I tried to use only the doh provider (Alidns) in mainland China, Firefox could open web pages very fast, but after I added the doh provider Opendns) outside of mainland China. Firefox becomes very slow in loading web pages. This problem only occurs in Firefox, not in chrome or edge (I currently use both Alidns and Opendns, Alidns as first choice and Opendns as backup).

So I would like to ask if Firefox has a logic that determines the priority of dns usage, prioritizing one of the dns providers when there are more than one at the same time. If so, can I change this logic. Because using dns services from other regions in mainland China will encounter problems such as very high network latency, packet loss, etc., I set up different regional dns providers at the same time as a backup, and I mainly use the mainland China dns provider.

My temporary solution for now is to actively enable doh service on Firefox and customize Alidns as the service provider. This gets Firefox working, but I think it adds complexity. Best regards, someone

The above is machine translation, the original Chinese text is as follows:

I use Yahoo as my homepage and access it through Mozilla. Normally it loads in mere seconds. Last night and today it is taking extremely long to load and in some cases it has timed out. When it does load, all the pictures and other features are not included and either don't load or load much later.

I tried to load Yahoo from MIcrosoft Edge and it loaded perfectly. I am assuming there is an issue with Mozilla?

Thanks for looking into this matter and letting me know.
