I seem to be encountering various problems since the update to 73, the main one is the profile folder, I dislike the default location so have previously just put my preferred location in appdata\roaming\mozila\profiles.ini but 73 regularly ignores this and puts a basic profile in the default location and alters profile.ini. Using the profile manager does not get any better results. I am also having problems with the home page, I have set a custom page but 73 often resets this to a blank page or sometimes the default home page. I have had to resort to a 'portable' version as 73 constantly resetting things was getting so annoying but the portable does not work well as a default browser.

I know this question has been asked, but is there still not a way to set a default upload folder?

Thanks.

Bear with me there's a bit of a story.

One of the apps I most use is MightyText. It allows me to send texts from my desktop computer's web browser. When FireFox automatically updated to the newest version, something didn't work right and MightyText stopped being able to connect.

My workaround was to use System Restore to go back in time so to speak. But FireFox is pretty aggressive with their updates, and eventually that stopped being a work around.

I tried to install an older version of FireFox manually but I couldn't ever get my profile to work right.

So, I've landed somewhere where FireFox has updated to the latest version, AND MightyText works just fine.

But now the problem is I cannot use any of my add-ons. Actually, I can re-fresh FireFox, and start it without any add ons. I can add all my add ons and everything works great, but if I restart my computer, FireFox will not connect to the internet (the wheel just spins) until I refresh again and wipe out all the add-ons. After doing so, all my tabs are restored, all my saved passwords, etc--and I can add back the add-ons and they will work until FireFox Crashes or I restart the computer, but then FF won't connect to the internet and around and around we go.

What's up?

Someone already reported it there: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/mc8vyx/pocket_disappeared_from_the_library_dropdown/

There is currently no way to view websites saved to pocket. Only integration is that one button visible on address bar and I have no idea how to restore it after you remove it. I hate their clumsiness. This is second time they remove one thing and forget to add replacement/config in time. Previous case was something with bookmarks menu if I remember correctly, and they still did not add any option to right-click-menu.

There are certain websites that change on a regular basis. It would be very helpful if I could get Firefox to automatically refresh at a certain frequency, so I don't have to continually hit the refresh button. I'd love it if there were multiple settings for the frequency (e.g., 1 min., 3 min., 5 min., 10 min.).

In previous FF versions, all links would open in a new tab. In FF 87.0 Options, I experimented with various checked and unchecked choices, and checking the "Open links in tabs instead of new windows" causes the link to open in the current tab rather than opening a new tab unless the link is coded to open a new tab... I prefer to have every link open in a new tab.

FF87.0 on Win10, all addons deactivated.

Hi, it seems that over night, the font of Japanese text in my MediaWiki has changed from [this](https://i.imgur.com/fxV9rMr.png) to [this](https://i.imgur.com/1uI9c1h.png). I don't know why, since I didn't access the server files or changed anything around.

Over the course of troubleshooting, I figured out that it seems like the monospaced font is at fault. So I tried to change the font Firefox uses for *serif fonts* to MS Gothic (instead of standard TNR). This is despite using *monospaced font* in my user settings on the wiki.

I also opened FF on my laptop where it is still on 84.0.2 and everything looks as it should, with the same standard settings applied everywhere. So I'm 80% sure the last FF updated changed something. The missing 20% are because I only noticed this yesterday, but the update happened four days ago, right?

Also, on the old FF the fonts used are Courier New and Microsoft YaHei. On the new FF it's Courier New and SimSun. In the settings I have "Fonts for: Latin" and the standard fonts, so I don't know where YaHei and SimSun come from. When I change Serif: TNR to YaHei, it changes from SimSun to YaHei...

Edit: This thread solved it, actually: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1277075

Short answer: Add Japanese to the preferred languages, leave everything else as it is.

So, I have it where Youtube is set to autoplay sound and video. But since the 87 update, it no longer works in private tabs (unless I manually set it each time I open a new private session). Which is annoying when I want to listen to a single song (and not have it in youtube history to recommend later).

Shouldn't there at least be an option to pick if this behaviour should carry over to private browsing?

Hi there. As we know, when you start typing anything in the search bar, at the bottom of it Firefox displays icons of different search engines, like Google, Wikipedia or IMDB.

In previous versions of Firefox, after typing a word in the search bar, I only had to click once on the search bar icon (for example Wikipedia), and Firefox was automatically loading the website I clicked at, with search results. However in the past 3-4 weeks (after one of the updates) it has changed. Now, when I type the word in the search bar and then I click at a certain search engine icon, Firefox does not automatically move me to this search engine's website - I have to press Enter to load this website. So actually it is necessary to make to clicks - one on the icon, and second one the "Enter" to start the searching.

I know it is a trivial problem and it takes only one moment to press "Enter", however I got used so much to clicking on icon only to start the searching, that after few weeks it still triggers me that I need to additionally press another button :) Can someone help with that, or is it normal now in Firefox?

Hello, I've been having this problem when I tap extensions on the toolbar, their small pop-up windows appear in the top-right but when I tap on the buttons in that window, the pop-up disappears instead of accepting my touch input to one of its buttons, it used to accept touch input fine, but no longer does

I've tried refreshing Firefox, and then removing prefs.js in case I messed with any of the about:config settings but it was to no avail, and I've even tried upgrading to Firefox Beta but same problem persists in beta, disabling all the extensions except one still doesn't allow add-ons to accept my touch input.

To be clear, the touch input works on Firefox's inherent buttons in the toolbar, like Bookmarks, History, Downloads, even the Pocket widget and three dots beside it, but any external extensions I install from addons.mozilla site no longer accept the input, and my touch input works fine in Chrome browser, but I like to use both browsers.

Hi,

I am using Firefox on an M1 Mac Mini running in Dark Mode. I am having trouble with Firefox dialogue boxes, e.g. when selectin to remove an extension from Firefox, that the Continue button is almost impossible to see. See attached screenshot.

If I click on the desktop, the button becomes visible, but when Firefox has the focus, the image is as shown. It does not seem to matter which theme is running, and is the same if I switch the Mac tro light mode.

Can anyone help as I cannot find any way to change this behaviour.

Regards, Richard
