Hi,

I bookmarked a page of a website today and when I attempted to bookmark another I was unable to do so. I checked the troubleshooting advise here and I tried to restore my bookmarks to an earlier date, but that attempt failed. After that, all my bookmarks disappeared and I'm unable to bookmark anything at this point.

I've attached a screenshot of what it says in the Places Database.

Thank you. Deborah

I would like to have a solution to reactivate all the bookmarks in the personal bar.

Best regards

On my linux system, I have two users. If I log in as user A and use FF and leave a bunch of tabs open, I can view those tabs again later if I restart my computer and log in as user A, so FF remembers its history.

No Problem Scenario Logged in as A - open FF - open a bunch of tabs - CLOSE FF log out of A log in as B - do stuff log out of B log in as A - open FF; all the tabs are there

Problem Scenario Logged in as A - open FF - open a bunch of tabs - leave FF open (don't close FF before...) log out of A log in as B - do stuff log out of B log in as A - open FF; all the tabs are GONE

If I run into the Problem Scenario, I can sometimes use these steps to get the history/tabs back. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-restore-browsing-session-backup

Whether the steps work or not, the Problem Scenario is annoying. I don't know what causes this. My desktop manager is KDE.

I had to replace my hard drive recently, and with it my Firefox install. I managed to transfer everything over to the new install, except for the URLs in Reading List. The extension itself made it over; just not any of the URLs I stored in it.

In theory, I know that I can scrounge through the Firefox install on my old hard drive and grab the necessary files, but I have no idea how I'd go about doing that. I can't rely on folder names, since those are based on extension IDs that are generated when I install the extension, and the files themselves are too opaque to glean anything useful from (Notepad++ didn't turn anything up, so I'm assuming the extension data's compressed).

Other than that, I've tried:

  • Running this tool to see if there was anything I could use. There wasn't.
  • Trying Load Temporary Add-ons to identify the Add-on I wanted. I accidentally erased my feeds on RSS Feed Reader doing this, so there's another extension whose data I need to restore. (It was fine before I tried Load Temporary Add-ons.)

My bookmarks disappeared from Firefox yesterday and I cannot restore them. In addition Firefox will not make any new bookmarks at all!? I have tried all the restore options advised: - Turning Firefox off and on. No good - Turning laptop off and on. No good - Windows security is up to date. Still no good - Going to Manage Bookmarks to Restore. None there to restore (possibly because of a CC Cleaner clean?). No good - I was able to find my profile and bookmarks back up. That would not open or load. I was able to find the Jefferson Scher software and use it to process a JSONLZ4 bookmarks file and export/download a HTML version. If I open the downloaded file I can click on that list of bookmarks to link to them (yay). But I cannot copy this list to the Book marks bar!? - I have tried to add some of these links as bookmarks again in Firefox, but no bookmarks appear in the bookmarks toolbar. So I am not sure what is wrong. Please help. Grateful any advice
