Is it possible to set a default container to open new tabs per window?

The use case I'm trying to support looks like: 1. Open a Firefox window for personal use 2. Open a Firefox window for work use 3. Press ctrl+t in the work window Expectation: Firefox opens new tab in the "work" container by default

I'm trying to replicate the experience of Chrome profiles, where an entire browser window is dedicated to one profile.

Using `privacy.userContext`, with or without the Multi-Account Containers extension, is there any about:config setting or an extension setting that enables setting a default container for a window in this way?

Capturing Firefox with OBS - Tab freeze when on other virtual desk, a way to prevent this?

Hello,

For teaching purpose, I need to do interactive presentations with both a regular slide presentation (using pympress), interactive activities through either Miro or Mentimeter both being in Firefox and a few other things (depending on what I teach at the time).

In order to mix those windows on the screen (and also because sometimes those are streamed), I capture all of them in OBS and have a bunch of scenes which organize and size everything depending on what I currently focusing on.

Each of those windows are on a different virtual desk to make it manageable, and thus I am not always on the virtual desk where Firefox is, for example when I am explaining something with slides, I am on the virtual desk with the presenter console. However I often still need to have the content of Miro/Mentimeter on the screen so that I can link my explanation with what students do.

Now the problem I have is that it seems the rendering of the pages in Firefox freeze when I change of virtual desk, and thus students might add things on Miro/Mentimeter and I do not see it because the page is frozen. When I get back to the virtual desk, suddenly all the changes students made pop-up. It's extremely frustrating, both for me and students, as sometimes they asked questions related to what I was explaining before and then I have to go backwards.

Is there any way to make Firefox keep rendering pages when they are not on the screen? Any option? I have tried searching about:config with rendering / refresh, but came up with nothing. When looking that issue online, I found the "Always active Window (Always Visible)" extension which supposedly prevent the hidden property of pages to go to true, but that has not solved the problem.

Any help or tips on how to solve this would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely, Sleris

Hi, I have upgraded/updated firefox and after the firefox upgrade/update firefox crashed. when i reopened i have lost all my history/my session/all the tabs i had open prior to the upgrade/update and NONE of the solutions in the "mozilla support" are working. BTW - i don't have windows - i am using ubuntu ( i don't know if this changes anything). THIS IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING as i have lost all of my open tabs and can't restore them as "history" does not show anything prior to the upgrade/update - the "restore session" option was grey after i have opened firefox after the crash and when i go to "history" it shows history only from today and only the tabs i have opened after the update. this is very bad, pls help me !!!!

I have been having problems using firefox (ubuntu linux) for several weeks.

When I try to sign in to an online account, giving username

and password, nothing happens when I type things on the keyboard. I have sometimes been able to deal with the problem by clearing the browser history and cache, but the same thing keeps happening later when I try to fill in forms.

I have noticed that, when the browser is first launched, I

am getting the message:

> Gtk-Message: 07:57:41.687: Not loading module "atk-bridge": > The functionality is provided by GTK natively. Please try to > not load it.

I suspect this is related to a message that seems to

be created later in the browser session:

> ** (firefox:185593): CRITICAL **: 08:05:31.011: > impl_get_StartIndex: assertion 'ATK_IS_HYPERLINK (link)' > failed

Another message that I have noticed less often:

> glean_core::metrics::ping Invalid reason code startup for > ping newtab

Thanks very much for any help!

hcaptcha antispam challenge spinning the wheel indicating working, but developer console (F12 key, Console tab) displayed:

"Failed to create WebGL context: WebGL is currently disabled."

Opening new tab with address "about:config" and searching for webgl i have found "webgl.disabled" variable is set to true (non default status), so i revert it to false.

Then reloading page and retry worked and error was gone.

If this was done by some extension, i am wondering how to discover which one.

Hi. When I try to run Firefox 77.0 on my linux system, I receive: "XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /media/34GB/firefox/libxul.so: /media/34GB/firefox/libxul.so: undefined symbol: FT_Library_SetLcdFilter Couldn't load XPCOM"

I am not exactly calling firefox executable according to the traditional ./firefox, but rather using: "LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/media/34GB/Arquivos-de-Programas-Linux/Gtk+-3.4.0/lib/:/media/34GB/Arquivos-de-Programas-Linux/xorg/X11-1.4.4/lib/:/media/34GB/Arquivos-de-Programas-Linux/xorg/Xcb-1.4/lib/ ./firefox", as my system doesn't have libgtk-3.so.0,libX11-xcb.so.1 or libxcb-shm.so.0.

Nonetheless, it does have libfreetype available. And a quick with: "nm -D /usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6.3.22 | grep FT_Library_SetLcdFilter"

shows that the function is present:

"0000000000017ff0 T FT_Library_SetLcdFilter"

So, I had no idea why the problem is happening. Yet, I had a small epiphany. While my system's Freetype does support the required function, the freetype version that I used while building gtk3 does not, as nm showed me. Hence, firefox (or libxul) might be looking for the function in the "wrong" freetype library that is linked to libgtk3, instead of the system default libfreetype.

If that's the case, perhaps recompiling gtk 3, pointing to a newer libfreetype with support to the required function would rectify this little issue. However, rebuilding gtk 3 takes some work and time, especially if I also rebuild Pango & Cairo using this newer Freetype, to avoid some possible future conflicts. And I am not sure this will work.

So, that's the recommended course of action or the cause might be other?

I use arch Linux on a laptop. For a long time (at least a year, maybe two?), I've had to load a module by hand every single time firefox restarts. I.e., navigate to /usr/lib64/pkcs11/libcoolkeypk11.so and attempt to load it...every time it says "unable to load module," however, it actually does load the module so you can click cancel or OK and then click on the module, which appears in the left-hand panel...then the functionality works. But when firefox is closed, upon restarting I have to repeat the process all over again. I also use Thunderbird for email and it never has this problem. Nor does "chromium" (just FYI). I prefer firefox so this has not deterred me from continuing to use it, but it is a pain and demands a needless waste of time every time the machine reboots or I have to restart firefox. Would be nice if someone finally fixed this silly problem.

Other applications such as Text editor (image attached) and Chromium-browser show the names correctly.

I use Firefox 107 on MacOs and Kubuntu and have done for 2 years in this config. Opening a zoom meeting was as simple as right click join on google calendars for both platforms. About a month ago (early Oct 2022) this stopped working. Clicking on the open zoom link in the browser does not work either. It works on mac, but not linux!

New Tab Override extensions also doesn't helps, because of restriction for extensions to use full javascript. It gives the error: Content Security Policy: The page’s settings blocked the loading of a resource at inline (“script-src”).

So these days mozilla crop. actually totally blocked the ability for users to use their own files as their own new tab, and blocked for extensions to access local files or full-functional javascript on their own pages, which is not just ridiculous but malicious.

So how can i use my local file with full-functional javascript as new tab?
