Summary

When using the Spotify Web Player in Firefox, Bluetooth audio devices disconnect whenever the playback position changes (automatic track transition or manual seek). The issue does not occur in Google Chrome or other media applications.

Environment Firefox Version: 153.0.1 (64-bit, Release) Operating System: Windows 11 Home 25H2 (Build 26200) Laptop: Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 5 (AMD Ryzen 5 7530U) Audio Backend: WASAPI Graphics: WebRender Bluetooth Device Tested:

  • Google Nest Mini (Bluetooth mode)
  • boAt Stone 1010 (same behavior)

Problem Description Spotify Web Player starts playing normally through a Bluetooth audio device.

However, whenever:

  • the current song automatically changes to the next track, or
  • I manually seek within a song (forward or backward), or
  • I manually switch to another track,

the following happens: 1. Spotify continues playing (the progress timer keeps increasing). 2. No audio is heard after the track transition or seek. 3. The Bluetooth device remains connected for approximately 15–18 seconds without receiving audio. 4. After about 15–18 seconds, the Bluetooth device disconnects automatically from Windows.

The Bluetooth disconnection appears to be a consequence of Firefox no longer sending audio after the media transition.

Expected Behavior Audio should continue immediately after:

  • automatic track changes,
  • manual seeking,
  • or switching tracks,

without interrupting the Bluetooth audio stream or disconnecting the Bluetooth device.

Actual Behavior

  • Spotify playback timer continues.
  • No audio is produced.
  • Bluetooth audio stream becomes silent.
  • Approximately 15–18 seconds later, the Bluetooth device disconnects.

What I Tested Works correctly

  • Spotify Web Player in Google Chrome
  • VLC Media Player
  • General Windows audio playback

Fails consistently

  • Spotify Web Player and youTube web in Firefox 153.0.1

The issue is reproducible with multiple Bluetooth audio devices, indicating it is not specific to a single speaker or headset.

Additional Observations

  • Opening other Firefox tabs or using other applications does not disconnect Bluetooth.
  • The issue only occurs when Spotify and YouTube changes its audio stream (track transition or seeking).
  • Bluetooth remains stable while audio is continuously playing.
  • The disconnect only occurs after Firefox stops outputting audio during a track change.

Firefox Information

  • Audio Backend: WASAPI
  • Graphics Compositing: WebRender
  • Hardware acceleration available
  • No crashes reported

Steps to Reproduce 1. Connect a Bluetooth speaker or headset to Windows. 2. Open Firefox. 3. Open Spotify Web Player. 4. Start playing music. 5. Wait for the next song to start automatically, or manually seek forward/backward or switch tracks. 6. Observe that audio disappears immediately. 7. After approximately 15–18 seconds, the Bluetooth device disconnects automatically.

Frequency 100% reproducible on my system.

See the subject. I've been seeing delays in launching for several months. I've run several windows defender malware checks (full and the one where it runs outside of anything brought up). I've reset firefox. I did all this also because I was seeing random ads from a news site from what they were trying to get me to do was install macafee (but it's malware). While I'm not seeing those ads now and I'm suspicious they can from the news site vs. my browser, I'm very aware of anything trying to capture screen scrapes. I'm even considering changing all my passwords as I'm not sure if anything was captured. This morning, firefox upon launch took a long time. Then it said installing updates. My desktop flashed and firefox launched. I have not installed anything or any addons, extensions, etc. So either this was firefox doing an update it needed or it's something else. I'm on windows 10.

I'm struggling with the changes to my homepage in recent releases. I use (and love) the about:newtab setup. Frankly, it's a big reason I use Firefox. I had the old 5x8 setup of thumbnails, with everything where I wanted it and could easily find. I'm 67 so this is probably much more important to me than someone younger, Changing the number of columns when you switched it to 5x10 threw off where everything was, so I had to rearrange. Okay., I did. But then you go and change it back to 5x8 and now I've lost a bunch of stuff and have to rearrange everything again. Can I get 5x10 back? If so, please let me know how. Thanks.

Can someone please explain what this IAB TCF banner is all about, is it Firefox or ?? It leaves a icon like a painter pallet on the bottom right corner of the screen when closed. It says it collect cookies, has a bunch of boxes to check. I clicked reject all, but it didn't go away. What am I supposed to do with it if it is legit. I'm 80 years old and so so tired. I did a spybot virus scan and nothing turned up. appreciate any help that will ease my weary worried mind.

Hi Mozilla team,

After a recent Firefox update, my Home/New Tab page changed dramatically and became hard to use. The issue is not just that the layout looks different — the new page is functionally worse for me because the shortcuts are oversized, they obscure the search bar area, and the trending/recommended stories are difficult to read.

I tried the usual fixes:

I changed the New Tab/Home settings.
I tried the about:config change to restore the older layout.
The page returned to normal once, but only for one instance; after that, it went back to the problematic layout again.

So I think there are two problems:

The redesigned Home/New Tab layout is too cluttered and interferes with basic use.
My preference change is not sticking, because the page resets after a restart or later reopening.

What I need help with is:

Why the Home/New Tab page is reverting after I change it.
Whether this is caused by a Firefox study/experiment, session restore, a profile issue, or an extension.
How to make the older compact layout stay permanently.
My Firefox version is 153.0 (aarch 64).
The problem happens after every restart of Firefox.
  Troubleshoot Mode changed nothing.
The browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.nova.enabled setting was reset to false and that has held.
   I'm on macOS
   Using Sync across devices.

In addition I cannot find session restore - I was going to try unchecking it to see if that helps

I need to edit the hidden passwords. There are two types of passwords. I don't know their specific names.

1) When you use the Password Manager you can view, edit, or delete passwords for specific sites. This is NOT what I'm referring to. 2) When you go to any site, before you do anything else, clicking on the login box, it displays a list of passwords from some hidden location I can't find.

I incorrectly typed in a user name ending in with .gmial (ai reversed) instead of gmail (correct). Now it shows up on the list of automatic entries when I click on the login box. It sometimes ends up as the entry that doesn't work.

Where and how do I edit the hidden password list?

When I download with this browser, I cannot open the file and it states download has "failed". Any other browser I use allows me to open the file. I use Firefox most often because I like the way it performs, but the download issue causes me to look elsewhere for a viable browser. I cannot seem to find what is causing the download failure and am hoping you can offer a reason that will provide a fairly quick fix.

Encountered it after the last update. When opening a new tab with a video on YouTube, a message appears that "Adblock plus" and "malwarebytes guard" slow down the browser, while the tab freezes, and even after closing it, it is impossible to open a new tab with a video (empty tabs open). Restarting the browser does not help, only restarting the computer. At the same time, I want to note that I am in Russia, where YouTube is launched only when VPN and similar means of circumventing locks are enabled (I use zapret).

I use the Firefox browser for MacOS and i use and XBOX series X controller. I connect via Mac Bluetooth and use my XBOX controller for many browser gaming platforms such as XBOX Cloud. The Firefox browser always has connection issues. The controller works perfectly with many other browsers such as Chrome, Edge, DuckDuckGo, Opera (all iterations). Firefox is the only browser were I've had connection issues.

Hello, I am trying to customize the "Shortcuts" section on both Firefox for Android and Desktop homepage. I only want this section to display websites that I have explicitly pinned or added myself. However, if there are any empty slots left in the shortcut grid, Firefox automatically populates them with random websites from my browsing history. Is there a hidden setting (perhaps in about:config) or a native way to completely disable these auto-generated history shortcuts, so that only my manually added sites are shown? Thank you

I operate Windows 10 and Widows 11 on two different computers connected with a physical switch to my monitor, keyboard and external drives. On my windows 10 computer Firefox does not populate my ID and password on websites--like it used to. After manually entering this information I am presented with to option to save this information. After choosing that option, Firefox does not save and the next time I access the website I must again enter the information manually. This has become a great inconvenience as most of my passwords have been generated automatically and I must, therefore, reset them.

Works fine when operating with Windows 11.

Dear Firefox, I am a new user, so I must apologize in advance for how naive I may be. I had attempted to search for my answer online, but did not find it.

I was previously on Chrome, and enjoy the tab interface there. As I move to Firefox, I notice that instead of having all my tabs listed at once, after some point I instead am met with "Scroll forwards" and "Scroll backwards" options.

I understand that this may look cleaner and less cluttered to some, but I personally dislike this, as I took comfort in the organized chaos of my many tabs - I was able to navigate through with ease, a single click to open the tab I desired rather than scrolling through my many tabs, which I feel may become incredibly annoying and inconvenient for me.

Is there any way to fix this?
