I created a sync account in June 2012 and synced it periodically. In early January 2014, I was having some pc issues so I backed up all my data on my pc and dropped it off to Best Buy/Geek Squads. My pc has been repaired and returned back to me today. However, it has been reset to factory settings, which meant I had to reinstall Firefox. Of course I no longer had my original recovery key so I had to choose the "no longer have my device" option so that I could recover the recovery key code. So now I am trying to pull in my synced data from the synced Firefox account and I see nothing. I know I am not doing something right. I am not trying to sync on a second device- it is technically the same device. I am just trying to pull in what was previously synced. I feel like a lot of the other forums are for pairing. It's almost as if once I logged into my Firefox account today and recovered the code- like there is a new account. I need to access my bookmarks- they are very important. Thanks!

I still don't know how to import all my Bookmarks (I have thousands of them) into Firefox, following the directions given, only a small fraction of the bookmarks were imported.

I have had Science LInks and Social Studies Links in separate folders in the toolbar all school year. Yesterday, a student somehow deleted the Science Links folder. I haven't performed a backup. When I go to restore, the most recent date is back in August. Does Firefox automatically backup every so often? If so, how can I restore the bookmarks from yesterday or even last week? Please help.

I've been having script errors for some time, and to such an extent that it makes my browser nearly useless. I've used QuickJava only to some success. Anyway, I tried to create a new profile and transfer my bookmarks, and current browser layout, and add-ons to the new profile using information from the forums, here. It seems that all my add-ons were automatically transfered, anyway, but even after manually transfering copied files of bookmark back-ups, none of my bookmarks or browser layout were transfered.

Can someone help me with this?

My team of teachers has a frequently used google doc that we share. My firefox will not allow me to bookmark this doc. I can still bookmark other pages and the rest of my team can bookmark this page.

There is no error message, it behaves as if I hadn't tried to bookmark it at all.

Why this site specific problem on only my computer?

I have installed firefox on 2 XP32 Pro SP3 computers. On the first one, I was able to read in my Opera bookmarks once they were saved as an html file. On the second computer, when I select the Import and Backup menu followed by Import Bookmarks from HTML…, I do not get a dialog box to select the file to import. Nothing happens. Furthermore, I have discovered that no file-related operations work with this installation - such as Open File… or Save Page As…

The only difference between the two installations that I can think of that might be relevant is that on the first computer, I installed into the default directory; on the second, I changed the name of the directory into which I installed.

So the relevant developer might want to check the effects of installation into a non-standard directory, and if this is the cause, fix how it works (or remove that option).

My macbook hard drive has died and I'm waiting for a new one. I need to access bookmarks for uni, so I've pulled out my old pc with Firefox installed. Currently, I have Sync for Firefox app on my iphone, which seems to have reatined all my bookmarks and tabs information. How do I sync this device with Firefox on this computer? I've tried to sync it with my account using the lost device option, but it seems to be unable to verify my account because the password is wrong (even though it is not). How do I fix this?

I am trying to organize my bookmarks in Firefox. Many are old. I want to organize and delete unused bookmarks. I have followed the firefox help tutorials but none of the the method ssuggested work. Suggestions?

Some how I got worldoftanks redirect virus in my firefox so I figure the only way to get rid of it is to uninstall my browser. Then reinstall a clean copy but I don't want to loose all my bookmarks, cookies, passwords, and so on. How do I save them or transfer them to another browser so I can transfer them back.

I have the latest version of Firefox because it automatically updates. For about 3 months, folders under Bookmarks just disappear in their entirety, including all the links to webpages contained therein. I have Synced the desktop PC twice now with my laptop, as miraculously the laptop's were in tact as it is used very seldom, maybe once a month.

Last time, however, the laptop bookmarks were disappearing too.

How can I prevent this from happening. Apparently, I am not the only one having this problem. None of the answers tell how to prevent it.

So I upgraded my laptop (Win7) and PC (Win8) to the newest version of Firefox. Now I'm trying to get my bookmarks from my laptop to my PC. So I did everything to setup the new version of sync and on my pc I got a few things synced like the homepage, theme, and a few small things, but bookmarks have not synced. How can I get my bookmarks over?

I was wondering, is it somehow possible to view which bookmarks are synced with Firefox sync? Maybe somewhere in an online repository?

The reason I'm asking this, is because I'm having some problems exporting my bookmarks locally. When I go to my bookmarks and backup them as JSON or export them as HTML, and open the result in a text editor, only about 10% of my actual bookmarks is in those files, and the rest is just missing.

So, if Firefox isn't exporting them properly locally, I can't be certain everything is safely backed-up at Firefox Sync, and I would like to verify this by checking what is stored.

So I have a master password set for Firefox, to store my logons. I am syncing my bookmarks and passwords using Firefox's built-in sync function. My question is, are bookmarks encrypted on FIrefox's sync servers? I want to ensure that all my bookmark metadata (tags, keywords, descriptions) that I enter are encrypted. Anyone know if this is occurring?

It was smth wrong with my pc. when I tried to resolve the situation, I accidentally updated the browser twice. And now I can't find all my "history" and "BOOKMARKS"!!!! How?????? How can I restore my bookmarks???? Help!!!

I prefer to use Firefox as browser. I have imported the favorites from IE into my Firefox. There are many favorites in IE that I do not use but another user of our computer does. I want to delete those favorites (bookmarks) from Firefox. I did one as a test and it was deleted from IE as well. This will not make for happy sharing of a computer!! How can I delete an imported IE bookmark from Firefox without automatically deleting it from IE? Thank you!

I just have to give up and build my own browser. Yea bookmarks are not synchronizing. That's basically it. I'm tired of having to wait and hope for updates for things that should be a standard feature. I know there is a lot of magic behind a browser, but all i really need are the bookmarks i can open anywhere.

I have to share a computer and have many bookmarks. I use private browsing when possible but the bookmarks still show up in regular browsing. I would like to hide them but still be able to get at them when needed

In firefox, there used to be a star. This star could be clicked anytime and would add current site in bookmarks.

It's gone. Why?
