Firefox, after running for several hours, will show a "no internet connection" on Yahoo Mail. Closing the tab and reloading does not fix it. I must shut down Firefox and restart the browser to reconnect with Yahoo Mail. All other tabs work. And then after several hours, it happens again. Looking at the archives, this has been a problem for years, but it just started a couple of months ago for me. Is anyone looking into this bug?

multiple logins.json.corrupt files -- can I delete them?

Background

I tried to log in to a website that I use often and discovered that all of my saved logins had disappeared. After some looking around here, I was able to restore the passwords by replacing logins.json with a "previous version" of the file (about a day old).

about:profiles shows only one profile, the default. There are, however, 4 other "default" profiles in the "profiles" folder, including one from 2017. I ignored all of these older "default" profiles.

Although using the "previous version" seems to have solved the problem, there are a number of files in my default profile, including

  • logins.json.corrupt
  • 14 more files named login.json.corrupt-1 through login.json.corrupt-14, and
  • logins-backup.json

I didn't notice logins-backup.json until after I had replaced the bad file with the "previous version" file, so I don't know if this was created before the problem started (I doubt it) or afterwards.

Questions

  1. If this happens again and there exists a logins-backup.json file, is that a possible file that can be used to replace a bad logins.json?
  2. Can I delete all those logins.json.corrupt files? Is there any way to use them? Is there any reason to keep them?

I can play videos and audios on another browser or files stored on my computer, but just now I cannot on Firefox. I saw the FAQ explanation about Windows 7, but I have been using Firefox for years including just hours ago using Windows 7. Why would this happen right now? Did some new version just get installed? If so, can I return to the prior version and turn off the automatic update?

Thanks, Phil

Since version 98, Firefox still saves files in the designated Downloads folder, even if I just want to open them. This new behavior keeps cluttering up the Downloads folder with unnecessary garbage. What I want to have in there is what I choose to download myself, not some temporary files. That's what the Temp folder is for.

The problem https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1370409 is marked as closed, unfortunately with no fix. Will anyone be addressing this yet, or do users have to get used to it?

I, after a few months, chose to switch back to version 97.0.2 I will no longer accept updates regardless of new security patches. Unfortunately.

Running v104.0.2. (UK) Whenever I have an 'email box', I get an autofill email address appearing I wish to delete. When I highlight the address, and hit 'delete' it doesn't work. On searching a method, I get the suggestion to go into settings and drill down in the 'Forms & Autofill' section in 'privacy' settings, but my FireFox has no such section.

I then tried to 'activate' the section by going into 'about:config' and changing 'extensions.formautofill.available' from, 'detect', to 'on', it made no difference, I still have no 'Forms & Autofill' section in settings.

How can something so simple be so complicated?

I've tried every suggestion of removing "Other Bookmarks" and all failed miserably with this new Firefox, it is ticking me off, why Firefox creates these irritations for its members is beyond me, no wonder its popularity is shrinking. Hi!

I have some serious problems with my Firefox!

First it won't open in any page I want it to. A message appears "Oops! Your tab just ceashed" It wants me to click on the following link: "Restore this tab", but nothing happens when I do it! If I try to click in one of my shortcuts on the top of the page, nothing happens either!

Today I tried to uninstall it, and then go get the latest version, but it won't uninstall! I tried to uninstall it using the Windows (7 Professional) Control Panel, but nothing happens when I click on Unistall Mozilla Firefox!

What else can I do?

Thank you!

A Print Screen of the message I get has been added.

When I click on an article or any link in Outlook, I get an error message that says, Your organization's policies are preventing us from completing this action for you. For more info, please contact your help desk. I'm not an 'organization', just a user and obviously there's no help desk to contact, so I thought I'd reach out to see if someone might have a solution to this problem. I have already made sure that my default programs are set to Firefox for my browser and Outlook for my email and made sure all the defaults are selected. I have also run a full windows scan program which came up without any errors and I have run a registry scan that fixed every identified error. I'm still getting the same error message and the only way for me to open up an article or a link from an email is to 'copy hyperlink', open up a new tab in Firefox and select Paste and Go, which is driving me nuts and wasting a ton of time. I don't know what else to do at this point. I did find a document on the internet that has what it says is a method to resolve this exact error message problem, but the instructions are specific to Internet Explorer, not Firefox. I'm hesitant to find those same tools on Firefox (which is quite possible, though some of them are in different places on Firefox than they are on Internet Explorer). My concern comes with the fact that the final step will 'reset' every setting to it's default condition, so it seemed like a good idea to try to get some expert help before I perform such a drastic action. Also, I'm also making the assumption that if I did do a complete reset, I would be able to restore Firefox back via my most recent System Restore and it would bring back all my customizations, browers add-ons, personal settings, home pages history, cookies, privacy settings, etc. - but I'd like someone to weigh in on this. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Hello. I am in need to open www site of Swegon AHU unit which is built on java. I have two installed java versions, 1.8 (one of latest of this branch) and 1.6. Problem is the AHU site is not working with anything newer than 1.6. I can't find proper solution for opening site with version 1.6 without much issues or much asking from browser. I need version 1.8 of java for daily use, and 1.6 is only for mentioned device. I tried to disable java 1.8 in java control panel but it doesn't seem to have any influence. I try to open site in Firefox 52ESR because for my knowledge is it one of latest browser which supported java. The problem is, Firefox each time is asking me what version to select for each class which must be loaded, and these classes are many for one page. It makes working with AHU a pain in azz. Everything because java is out-of-date. I know it is, but I don't have any option - these devices are not mine, and I can't upgrade firmware on myself, and can't force customer to do this. And I don't even know if there is any upgrade for them. I looked in internet but didn't find anything suitable for my case. Is there anything I can do with java or firefox 52ESR settings to make this site works flawless? I set applet in Firefox to not asking when activate java, but it still nagging me with questions and requires confirmations. I can't bypass it. I tried to use Internet Explorer 11 but there it is even worse, because out-of-date java is not allowed to run, no matter what settings i made in application. Please help.

My homepage is Google. When i open it on my desktop (win7) the cursor is automatically in the search bar on that webpage. As i want it to be. My number one function when opening firefox is to search google so that is where i want to start. NOT in the address bar ever.

On my laptop (upgraded to win10) it is in the address bar.

I installed the exact same profile from my desktop to laptop.

I have run it in troubleshoot mode and the issue went away. So i disabled all addons and custom themes but issue still persisted.

I turned off hardware acceleration, no change.

What else could troubleshooting be turning off?

Why does the exact profile work on desktop but not laptop ?

What could cause that error, is it a known problem, and is a fix available ? I'm running the ESR under Windows 7 x64.

I am using Widows7 Home Premium with Yahoo Mail and Firefox, a combination that's worked for years.

When starting an email and when you put the first letter in the 'To' line I used to get a box suggesting all the names in my contact list beginning with the same letter. With a simple click on the name you want, it appears on the 'To' line. This is not now happening and it's a pain having to dig out email addresses from elsewhere.

I have not made any alterations anywhere on the computer, it just disappeared one day.

How can I get this feature to reappear?

Is it possible to change the location of Reader View? I appreciate information on how to remove it (reader.parse-on-load.enabled to false in about:config) However I like the usefulness but I do not want it to clutter up the address bar. I relocate most of my buttons, some to the overflow and would like to relocate Reader View, also.
