As it is, Command-F or Control-F searches only support exact phrase search.

If I want to search for any of 6 terms, I have to type them in, one at a time. If I want to search multiple pages, it's a lot of extra typing.

If other people have asked this same question since 57, well, support.mozilla.org does not have a working search function. Apparently Findbar Tweaks provided this function up through 56. But searching "Findbar" in addons.mozilla.org yields every other kind of bar, but nothing involving the findbar, because, well, addons.mozilla.org does not have a working search function, because it stems and defaults to OR searches.

Multi-Keywords Highlighter can highlight these results, but can't help me navigate to each one.

Willing to consider another browser, but must be able to block flashing, block animation, and block blinking cursors, due to neuro issues.

I use a MacBook Pro with MacOS 10.11 and the latest version of FireFox (72.0.2) and I'm unable to figure out how to close multiple tabs at once.

With past versions of FireFox, I could bring up the context menu (by holding down the control key and clicking on a tab) and choose "Close other tabs" or choose "Close tabs to the right of this tab." I could also choose either option from the File menu, but all those options seem to be gone now and I can't even bring up the Context menu any more. Maybe if I had a two-button mouse, I could click the right button, but you should be able to do the same thing with the standard trackpad that comes with the MacBook. I'm sorry.

Anyway, how do you close multiple tabs?

Thank you so much.

On Windows, Firefox adds a pre-set command line to the Windows registry under

   HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxHTML\shell\open\command
   HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxURL\shell\open\command

If you change the -url in the command line to -private-window -- from

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -osint -url "%1"

to

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -osint -private-window "%1"

-- then all external links launch in a private window.

This no longer works in FF 69. As soon as I modify "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxURL-F66A7FFE1BF331E2\shell\open\command", FF is detecting it and changes its status to "NOT your default browser".

I'd appreciate your help.

The CTRL-U shortcut displays the source version of the current page. In some specific situations, this feature can be useful, but not very often for regular users (in contrast to developers). Unfortunately I can't find a way to switch back from this view: Ctrl-U isn't a toggle and there's no other shortcut that could be used to display initial view again. Also, I haven't found a menu command useful in such situation.

Also it is impossible to disable Firefox shortcuts selectively. Thus if you press Ctrl-U by chance then you cant view the original rendered page version and you lost what you entered in editing fields on the page.

Is there a way to achieve some level of control over this unwanted "improvement"?

Hello, having an issue with the search bar not autocompleting for gmail and I can't seem to fix it. Example in screenshots = reddit autocompletes no problem as first result, same with twitter, but gmail is down there in like 6th position, prioritizing things I've never searched for or been on.

Can I make it be the first result? It's much more convenient to type the first 2 letters, hit the down arrow and press enter like I do for all the other sites that I regularly visit.

Thanks

I have logins saved on various sites but recently Firefox has starting offering logins for sites that aren't the one I'm trying to log into. Because I have quite a few logins saved this can result in getting a dropdown of dozens of 'suggested' logins and finding the one in the list that's the actual login for the site I'm visiting is a bit of pain. How can I set this so that Firefox will only show me logins for the site I'm currently visiting the way it used to?

I've moved my Firefox profile to a custom location (in My Documents). When I run a backup, I want to exclude files that can easily be regenerated when the profile is restored on another system. So far, my exclusion list is as follows:

D:\Documents\My Documents\Firefox\OfflineCache\*

D:\Documents\My Documents\Firefox\cache2\*

D:\Documents\My Documents\Firefox\minidumps\*

D:\Documents\My Documents\Firefox\safebrowsing\*

D:\Documents\My Documents\Firefox\storage\temporary\*

D:\Documents\My Documents\Firefox\parent.lock

Is this a safe list?

Are there additional folders that can safely be excluded? Keeping logins active upon restore is preferable (so keeping cookies, etc. is preferable).

Edit: The list above is safe, and when I tested the restore it works fine. The accepted answer lists some more folders that can be excluded, which I haven't yet tested but looking through them they look correct.

How can I remove the drop down bar that asks me if I "meant to go to" some specific place every time I do a single-word search in the search bar? Apparently this was a problem a few years ago with a Firefox update, and it has just started happening to me after this most recent update. It is extremely annoying and there isn't anything in Options that allows a user to turn it off.

I tried a potential fix posted in one of the older support threads regarding this issue (switching browser.fixup.dns_first_for_single_words preference from false to true) but it doesn't seem to have worked, even after disabling the DNS's "Web Address Error Redirect Service", then resetting Firefox and my router after changing that setting.

Another method I tried was changing my DNS settings I also tried setting keyword.enabled to false, but that did not work either.

I've attached a screenshot of the specific drop down bar I'm referring to.
