Hi guys.

I can't characterize websites because of the favicon overlaid by the speaker symbol (directly in the YouTube tab).

Is there a way to display the speaker symbol and the favicon at the same time? Or not display the speaker symbol at all, because it is important for me to know which website is in the TAB. I don't need to see the speaker, but the favicon of the website. See attached screenshot.

Of course, the speaker icon only appears when audio is active on a particular website (for example, this applies to a YouTube website).

Thanks.

Mike

Today I switched from Chrome to Firefox. Since I have two monitors one common thing I do is opening a new tab and then dragging it (the tab not the window) to my second monitor. But when I do this firefox freezes and the only I can do is stopping firefox via Tasmanager and starting it again. I also tried it in debug mode and the same thing happened. I can replicate 100% of the time.

Hi All, I use Get Pocket - a lot! Before the last couple updates the normal bookmark icon - would click on that and there would be a link to Get Pocket list. That has now disappeared. The only way I can find to see the list, is click on the "save to pocket" icon, whereby it then saves the page I am on, although I don't want to save the page, and it also has a link to view the list. So have to click on that, then delete the page just saved. All so ridiculous. I must be missing something here. The update before this, was the same and I reverted back to an older version of Firefox. Thought would try this latest update, but no ... the pocket list link inside the bookmarks icon is not there.

How can I get to view pocket list without having to first save the page I am on, then delete it? What am I missing. I attach three images. One of how I used to use the Get Pocket list .. i.e. using the bookmark icon. Then what the book mark icon shows now .. no pocket list ... and the only way I have found to view the list, but saving a page first :) ..... Thanks for any advice.

The most recent update seems to have changed something I can't figure out how to change back myself.

When I start a search in the Firefox search engine box (the one in the middle of the screen), the text is instead entered in the address bar at the top. The search still performs the same but it is more of an aesthetic preference. Is there an option I am overlooking that enables the search text to appear in the search engine box, rather than in the address bar?

I did try disabling the address bar but that just stopped the search function from working.

I just want native full-screen. It's 2021- why is such a simple feature still impossible!??? (Heck- even F11 doesn't work on my computer). Please please please- just a check-box for "Always launch in full-screen mode". Speaking of such matters- your smooth scroll option ain't! I have to use Logitech's extension to get it and even then there's no speed control. I see this endlessly- companies focus on glitz and gloss over/see through the essential basics (It's what killed Opera!).

Hi.

My firebox brower updated last night, and this morning, it's messed up my browser.. I've managed to find and get back my saved bookmarks.

But its also given me the issue of not being able to remove the 'search address bar' at the top of the screen. It's using the Search Bar in the address bar for search and navigation. which i don't want, and it isn't working in their anyway, it doesn't search..

Luckily i'm able to click on the home screen tab icon, which takes me to a google search engine screen (As i set it up as the home search engine screen) , which i can type in things, and it takes me to those pages. It's the firefox.

I've gone into settings, but doesn't actually give you the option in there to remove or disable the search bar and nativation address bar..

I found this post by someone in the mozila support forum who is having similar issue to me..

"Every UI update, there's something that makes me enjoy Firefox less and less and it becomes more and more difficult to make it something I feel is reasonable. Having the address bar suddenly take up more of the UI is bad design and not only irks me on a design level but it just doesn't need to be that large. I *know* it has focus because I did it deliberately.

So how do I turn this "feature" off? Chosen solution

You can revert to the old AwesomeBar by:

   Type about:config in the urlbar
   Search for browser.urlbar.update1 and set it to false
   Search for browser.urlbar.openViewOnFocus and set it to false
   Restart Firefox   "

So i have tried to do this, but it's not made any difference, the search bar and address bar is still there at the top of the screen, and still not working. I want it gone..

Can someone help me please. Becky

Since Firefox has been updated, the interface is completely unusable. The frame does not render properly. I can use Firefox only in safe-mode with the terminal. The new WebRender seems to be the problem.

What did I do then ?

  • I entered apt purge firefox for full removal and reinstall -> Didn't work.
  • I disabled in about:preferences hardware acceleration -> Didn't work
  • Downgrade to Firefox 88 -> Worked.

I love the new interface and the new render process. But if I can't use it on my home workstation, things are going to be hard for me.

I added a screenshot to show the problem.

Thanks by advance !

Hi,

I'm developping a custom tool in order to automatically clean my cookies from several websites. For example, I would like to automatically remove cookies from twitter.com every time I launch my tool. I'm under Win10x64, firefox v89, tool developped in python.

To do this, once firefox is closed, my tool go in my profile folder, access to cookies.sqlite and delete row associated to twitter.com

-> DELETE from moz_cookies WHERE host == '.twitter.com';

The database is saved, no more "twitter" in my cookies.sqlite file, and the tool ensures there is no cookies.sqlite-wal or cookies.sqlite-shm files left.

After that, when I open again twitter, I am no longer connected to my session, but I got an error which seems to be related to cookies (see screenshot).

Moreover, when I oppenup the firefox cookies manager, there is still twitter cookies in the list, but 0 cookies associated.

Where is my mistake ? Can you help me solve my problem ? Thanks

After allowing the latest version of Firefox to update (89.0) I can no longer access my bank's website. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be appreciated.

BTW, I did not like the new theme offered so I changed browser.proton.contextmenus, doorhangers, modals, and places-tooltip to false. Not sure if this would cause a problem and I will set them back to true and test.

Oops! Nevermind!

After writing the above sentence about changing the proton settings, I went back to verify what I had done and found that I had left the browser.proton.places-tooltip set to 'True'. I switched it to false. Now all browser. proton settings are false and access to the bank website functions again.
