Hiya,

I'm having a minor inconvenience with firefox 91.0.2 for a few months now. It's popped up a few months ago and hasn't resolved itself in between updates.

I'm guilty of having many (well over 20) tabs open at the same time and around the 20th or 30th tab even, usually one of the (newly opened) tabs, simply never loads. If I open the same link in another tab, the link (any url) does load. See the screencap below.

This is on a windows 64 bit machine OS build: 19043.1165 (21H1) Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3530.0

I'm running Norton 360 Antivirus software.

Will try running in safe mode, to see if it still happens and confirm in a reply to this message.

Hoping you guys might have some suggestions.

BTW: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1317506 is probably the same problem, unfortunately the thread has been archived. This one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1285104 also seems similar.

Clicking a Facebook or Instagram link in a Google search opens a new tab and kills the Google tab. Why? I have to restore the closed tab (and its history) from History > Recently Closed Tabs. This has not yet happened with any non-Facebook-affiliated tabs.

I know that Facebook is evil, but damn.

Firefox 92.0, 64-bit (This has happened in the last five or so versions.) Windows 10 Home, V. 20H2, OS Build 19042.1237, Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3530.0

Thank you.

My normal process for opening a new tab is to press Ctrl+t and start typing the URL I want, then press enter once auto-complete shows the correct URL.

Sometimes I want to open a bunch of tabs at once, so while the first tab is loading I'll press Ctrl+t again and start typing in the next URL. If I wait until the page has started loading this works as expected, and the new tab opens with the cursor in an empty URL bar. However, if I press Ctrl+t immediately after pressing enter, the new tab's URL bar will contain the URL from the previous tab.

I can't always reproduce this reliably, it only happens when I'm working really quickly and I usually don't notice until I see that the URL bar contains both the old and part of the new address. It may also be more common with websites I haven't visited recently, I usually encounter it when paying bills which happens about once a month.

Hi! I do Duolingo on a daily basis. Many/most of the tasks comes with audio, and then... the tab changes size - to show a "Playing". A short time after the sound has stopped, it will change back. I react every time, and it is very disturbing. I really don't need to have such information in the tab/window, because I usually/always hear when Firefox is presenting sounds. I want to find somewhere to turn that "notification" off. Is that possible?

Hello,

For a couple of months there has been a change in Firefox that I haven't had time to address.

When I do a search, and click on a link, it opens in a new tab, instead of the tab the link was in. I don't want multiple tabs open. It uses a lot of resources.

In the screenshot below, I did a search in the first tab, clicked a link, and the 2nd tab opened.

Anyone know what I am missing in the settings to stop this?

I generally have loads of tabs open, and until recently this wasn’t an issue (perhaps until last upgrade?), but now, I can hardly move between tabs, the drop down list showing tab selection doesn’t work, nor does the left/right arrows. When I delete a tab, it leaves a ‘space’ where the tab was, only ‘back filling’ after I’ve opened up another tab to full screen mode and then minimised it again, at which point it goes to the very left-most tab and the only way I can get to tabs further down the list, is by deleting them in the manner described. I’ve actually got 2 laptops (Win 7 & 8.1), and it’s now happening on both of them. This might have something to do with memory management/the computer’s page file, but as things stand, I’m SERIOUSLY going to be switching to another browser - despite sticking with Firefox for many-a-year. BTW, I’m actually writing this on my phone, as I couldn’t now do it on either of my laptops (hence I’m currently unable to attach anything/provide screen grabs etc. I guess the only way to ‘clear’ this issue, would be to either close/restart Firefox or my laptop - neither of which I really want to do. Is there a way that I can use an earlier version of the browser and prevent it automatically updating? Yours, a now very frustrated longtime user,

Title is pretty self-explanatory- I'm wondering if there is a way to save all current tabs upon exit of firefox, opening the same tabs when opening the browser again.

I've seen the same issue posted here dating back to 2011 but the answers provided don't seem to work for me.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

I recently did update FF, and the + sign that was next to the tabs which allowed me to open a new tab disappeared. Is this a new "feature," or is there something I can do to get this back?. I've attempted to customized the toolbar, but there doesn't appear to be the + on that or a way to open a new tab - just a new window. Thanks in advance.

Whenever I restore previous session, off bootup or opening firefox with tabs being sent from another device loading in, restoring closes the tabs I just recieved and they don't show in their recent history since they didn't fully load. It happens every once in a while with me being mindless, but would be nice QoL when its a loaded webpage from an app on the phone I then send to the computer that gets lost and has no form of history.

I've recently updated to 92.0.1 and I've noticed that when I download a PDF attachment or file that firefox opens in a new tab rather than using the default adobe program. I've looked at settings and applications and changed to to "always ask" but I don t get any option to use adobe to open it or any other program. Also it seems to save the file in the downloads folder as a "firefox html document" and not a pdf file

During my work i often need to have massive amount of tabs, and want to switch between them quickly. And i cant find solution to tab size change, aside of "workarounds" that are "planned to be shit down". Is there a way to do it on permanent basis? I don`t mind those tabs be wide as they are now (although prefer them to be smaller, about 6x times) if i can, for example, have second and third string of tabs. That should be sufficient. But still i cant find a way to do so. I also saw mention of "user feedback" in another thread (currently locked) and would be willing to participate in said feedback.

Hi there,

I am using Firefox 93.0. Sometimes, if I have opened multiple tabs from a single tab (for example, I am on the homepage of a news site and open multiple articles in new tabs), when I close the original tab all of the new tabs I opened from there close as well.

Is there any way I can stop this from happening? I only want the tab I close to close, and for the rest to remain open.

Thanks in advance for your help!
