I'm using Firefox 85.0.2 (64-bit) under Windows 7 on a desktop PC.

I've noticed a curious effect with the last two Firefox upgrades.

I have https://www.google.co.uk/ set as the default new tab site. Previously, opening a new tab automatically placed the cursor neatly into the Google search box; now it's positioned at the front of the URL in the Firefox address display.

If I go to the same Google site manually or from my bookmarks, the cursor obediently arrives in the search box. Is there any way of achieving this with the New Tab setting?

Many thanks.

Suppose I have 2 tabs: [tab 1 in container 1 with youtube account 1] and [tab 2 in container 2 with youtube account 2]. One account for work and one account for personal use. Every day I use both accounts, but all youtube bookmarks and all external links to youtube (for example, those that open from google-search list) open outside the container (in the default container). The question is, is it possible to always open all youtube links and youtube bookmarks in container 1 ("Always open this site in container"-feature) and still be able to access tab 2 with the container 2? The problem is that after enabling this feature, tab 2 with container 2 turns into a tab with container 1.

This was working perfectly on my old PC, but recently I built a new one and logged into Firefox and it pulled down my extensions and what not..

What I am running into, is when I close Firefox and open it back up my tabs that were in containers do re-open but they are no longer in their respective container. I have to right click the tab and select "re-open in..." to get it back in the correct container.

I have tried restarting with add-ons disabled and it has the same result. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi

I want to report a bug, that annoy me at the highest :)

Firefox doesn't autofocus the Search bar on ctrl+t when in fullscreen (by search bar I mean the address bar)

Step to reproduce : - Go in fullscreen (e.g Youtube vid) - ctrl+t for opening a new tab - And the search bar isn't focused (it should be the case, and it do it when it's not in fullscreen)

And yes I know that I can just press F6 for focus it, but i'm lazy

It seems Mozilla has removed the SSB option from firefox. I used that all the time and without it, I have had to revert to using chrome, which I don't want to do. Wny remove a feature? Its buggy? So what. A buggy hidden beta feature is better than no feature at all. It has users, including me. So just leave it as unsupported. Don't just axe it.

As to it having "no benefit". Absolutely the opposite - in a world where every app is now a cloud web app, we need to be able to separate different apps within windows, not just have multiple indistinguishable windows or tabs for each of the apps. So yes this was a seriously retrograde decision, and one which is sending firefox in a backward direction. SSB was the future. It's just few people were aware.

So when are mozilla going to reverse this decision? Does anyone know any other clever way to achieve the same thing - i.e. a separate fixed app for each webpage.

Hello,

When I press CTRL + T to open a new tab, then enter a query in the address bar to search in the default search engine, the tab doesn't load at all. At the top of the tab, it still reads "New Tab" and the address bar fills up with the search query's URL. This used to only occur every 2 or 3 times I opened a new tab to search something in this way, but now it is occurring every time I attempt to open a new tab.

I have Google Container installed as an addon, which automatically opens any Google domain in a new container tab. Strangely, if I navigate to google.com, then back to duckduckgo.com to search, this resets the tab. I've tried uninstalling the Google Container addon, but the issue persists. Any help is appreciated!

When I close a tab, by default Firefox selects the next tab on the right or the one on the left if the closed tab was the right-most tab. There is an option in about:config

browser.tabs.selectOwnerOnClose

When this option is set to True, firefox will focus the owner.

Neither of these two behaviours is particularly useful. I want Firefox to select the last vieved tab, not the parent, and not the one to the left/right. Currently I'm using add-on Select after closing current which does exactly what I want, however previous versions of Firefox could do this out of the box, and so can Chrome. I think most users would find it useful if this was the default behaviour, thanks!

Hello, Let's start with 'I'm not a great techie' - I have looked for the answer to my problem but either can't find it or the reply is too complex for me. I'm using Firefox 86.0.1 (updated 13 March I think) on a Mac. Recently Firefox has been crashing a lot and I used 'Restore session' to restore my tabs (7 windows, 111 tabs). I used Restore Session because the Tab Session Manager app has been stuck on 06.02.21 for ages (6 windows/50 tabs, for some reason it only shows that session, and nothing since). This morning I had to restart my Mac and this time Restore Session only restored the last two tabs I opened, maybe because I have been tinkering with Firefox preferences in order to solve the problem (trying to find out where the Tab Session Manager backup folder was for instance, which I couldn't). So my question is: how can I restore my olds tabs of 7 windows/111 tabs? Ideally with the session I am using now, which would make it 8 windows/122 tabs in all) And I have an additional small query: in my attempts to solve the above, I clicked the small red 'Autosave browser exited' (on the right of 'Add tag' in Tab Session Manager) in order to see if that helped. I must have clicked the small X because 'Autosave...' disappeared and I can't find a way to restore it. My thanks to all of you who help nincompoops like me.

I have configured Firefox to open eleven tabs when it launches. Intermittently, after Firefox has been open for a while, I find those eleven tabs duplicated so that I have twenty two tabs with the extra tabs in the same order as my startup tabsa. It just happened a minute ago. I have no idea what causes this to happen. I don't think it's anything I did. I'm on MacOS Big Sur 11.2.3 and Firefox 87.0. The last time it happened, I think I was on Catalina.
