Dear Mozilla Firefox Support Team,

I have been a loyal Firefox user for many years because I have always appreciated its speed, privacy, and reliability. However, I have noticed that Firefox has become slower over time, and I am disappointed with its current performance.

The browser feels increasingly sluggish during everyday use. One of the biggest issues I experience is with YouTube, where videos often do not play as smoothly as they should. I also notice that Firefox consumes a significant amount of RAM, even when only a few tabs are open, which affects the overall performance of my computer.

I sincerely hope the Firefox team will prioritize performance optimization in upcoming updates. Many users, including me, want a browser that is fast, lightweight, responsive, and efficient with system resources. Speed and smooth performance are some of the main reasons people choose a browser, and I would love to see Firefox become the quickest browser again.

Please continue improving memory management, reduce unnecessary resource usage, and optimize YouTube and other modern websites for a smoother browsing experience.

I'm experiencing continuous screen blackouts or glitches. These are unaffected by the site I'm on and only occur for Firefox browser. When I switch a tab or click a button the browser blacks out and becomes unresponsive then comes back on after a few seconds. This happens repeatedly. Clearing the cache, running a repair, and uninstalling / reinstalling the app have had no affect on it.

I am facing a recurring issue while browsing websites on Firefox. This happened even before the latest upgrade. Only it is worse after this last software upgrade.

After using the browser for 1–2 minutes, the browser gets stuck or becomes unresponsive. While scrolling through websites, the full page does not load properly, and parts of the webpage suddenly become blank. In many cases, the existing tab cannot even be refreshed. I have to close the program, wait a few minutes and reopen. Very frustrating. I have been using Firefox for many years and this is the most unstable I have ever seen it. Whenever I click any link that will play a video in a video playing website such as YouTube, Instagram or TikTok, it will cause the entire tab to glitch out and freeze in on the page it was on before I clicked the link.. The entire tab completely freezes and never unfreezes itself, with the cursor having whatever appearance it had when the page froze, and being unable to click anything. The only thing it can do is type a new URL into the search bar, but the search button/enter bar is also ineffective, so I'm stuck on a frozen webpage unless I close the tab or change to another one. I've tried troubleshooting, fiddling with the autoplay setting and turning off extensions, none of which worked. Any ideas?

I’d like to report a serious issue with Firefox lately. The browser has been performing very poorly and frequently becomes “Not Responding.” In many cases, websites fail to load properly or get stuck indefinitely, even though my internet connection is working normally.

I’m experiencing these issues on the latest version of Windows 11 with the latest version of Firefox. This has become quite frustrating and significantly affects my daily browsing experience.

I hope the Firefox team can investigate these stability and website-loading issues and provide a fix soon. Firefox used to be much more reliable, but recently the overall experience has been very disappointing.

When firefox is loaded and as high as 13 can load. If go to task master and search for firefox it shows 13. If I try to delete 1 file all are deleted. If I delete firefox and try to add it again it says I already have firefox loaded.

I am a user and not good at using all sort of commands etc

Hardware acceleration is turned off. Firefox does not show the GPU usage in task manager (which is very worrisome in its own right) but when watching a single stream twitch.tv my GPU usage is 60%~100% (which only shows on the GPU tab of task manage). If I close firefox, the usage returns to 0%. The usage also becomes 0% when the stream is not the active tab.

I believe this is a recent behavior change as I noticed it due to it causing games to have low FPS. The excessive usage is also present with only firefox running.

This is happening on a 7800x3d, RX 7900 XT and 32GB of ram.

I also tested on youtube and found it to be using 10% less gpu on average but after while it settles down to ~30% usage.

If I enable hardware acceleration, Firefox uses the iGPU at ~50% usage and still uses 50%~60% of the dGPU. Performance of videos doesn't seem to change whether hardware acceleration is on or off (where as on chrome there is a very noticeable difference).

Used Chrome for sanity checks and it does not affect games FPS while using on average half the GPU usage of Firefox. Chrome also reports it usage in task manager correctly.

I suspect Firefox may be calling GPU encoder\decode hardware incorrectly and always using hardware encoders\decoders regardless of the hardware acceleration setting.

For the last 2-3 weeks, the browser has been freezing when opening new tabs. This doesn't happen all the time, but the same tabs can open correctly or the browser stops working when they are opened. The work stops for 10-20 seconds. The browser does not respond to clicks, but if you press the Win key, the window turns bright and "not responding" appears on top of the frame. I was trying to solve this problem on my own. I ran it in safe mode, disabled hardware acceleration, updated drivers for the integrated graphics and discrete graphics card, disabled all extensions, created a new profile, reinstalled the browser completely - none of this helped, the browser still freezes when opening new tabs. I also cleaned the download history, changed the proxy settings, and disabled Windows Defender. What else can I try to do to fix the browser?

i used firefox version 144 or 148 and it frequently become whitescreen "but when i put or move my cursor hover, it becomes reload the page again. but it's annoying error bugs

Whenever I have to restart my cpu, the menu bar appears to try to open all of the tabs and it causes system hangups and says that Mozilla Firefox is not responding. What causes this ??

Since updating to Firefox 141.0 (Win11), I've had issues with performance and on-screen behaviour of dynamic web pages/sites. The problems do not manifest on Chrome, or on a reinstalled version of Fx 140.0.4 on the same computer running at the same time (and with copy of original profile's data files, extensions etc.), they do manifest on a new Firefox 141.0 profile with only one tab open.

The problem happens on dynamic pages (e.g. gmail.com, boardgamearena.com/lobby) but doesn't seem to happen on static pages. Note that this doesn't depend on page elements moving around the visible window (e.g. panels opening and closing).

The manifesting problems:

• Screen pointer rapidly switching between standard arrow pointer, mouse with index finger (clickable link) and serifed-style insertion bar, even when positioned on a part of the page that is not a link or a text box. Video (MP4, <1MB) showing behaviour at https://imgur.com/a/absjTh4.
• Browser intermittently fails to respond to browser actions (mouse clicks, keyboard entry)
• Small increase in browser CPU usage

Problem is worse if general CPU usage (from other applications) is already high - low CPU usage reduces but doesn't eliminate the problem. (Established by changing my BOINC settings and/or snoozing BOINC and observing; I have a gadget that monitors CPU and other resource usage.)

The fact that I can see the problem occurring on Fx 141 but have Fx 140.0.4 working fine at the same time on the same page, suggests that this is a Fx 141 issue. Regular malware scanner and an alternate found no issues.

Happy to do more diagnostic testing if it's helpful.

Recently I have been issues with switching between windows of Firefox. No matter how many times I try to Alt-Tab or click on another window it momentarily goes to that window before switching back immediately. The only work around I found is to click a window of some other software and then click the window I want to work on in Firefox. Doing this is not making it switch back to the older window of Firefox again. Please help me in fixing this issue. It's making it nearly impossible to work on Firefox due to this.
