Hi,

Following downloading update version 146, I have been unable to open Firefox, all that happens is that a box appears stating (see images): firefox.exe - Bad image, then C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\xul.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc000000d.

After clicking OK on that box another one pops up stating:

Couldn't load XPCOM.

I have tried doing a Windows system restore, to try to take it back before it downloaded version 146, but this hasn't worked.

I've looked online and followed the advice there to download Firefox from your website, but that failed, just generating the XPCOM error.

My MAIN CONCERN at this point is that I do not want to lose all the bookmarks I had saved on my Firefox! I can't see any file within those in the Program Files\Mozilla Firefox folder, so is there any other way to save\recover them?

I don't have any original "installation media" so as far as I can remeber Firefox was pre-installed on my PC?

I have a Samsung PC running Windows 10. There are two Mozilla Firefox folder under my C:\:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox and C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox, under this folder the version is 146.0.0.383, but under the other folder it's version 145.0.2.579?

Please advise as to how to save my bookmarks and rectify this error.

idk where i must to say or why!n this doesnt help atall,but well...

i'v change my browser many hears ago for things like good addons,extension n like this reasons.. (sorryfor my poor english but i hope tht will be understandable.) but between some of them,more important was that opera 2times or maybe more ithink when outo update.or maybe 1time for i closed accidentally my tabs and all goen and hadnt any way for...

mozilla was good but idonno why this time all goen just by one click after i opened and clicked on download.or update button,that topright of screen pops EVERYTIME.wue!well,idk wht but w.o any clicks..miss clicks or whtevr,all tabs are remains but with out adressz or able to open.just nothing happening,like empty,umm,blank tabs.

i have all ma tabs bookmarks cuz it was important to me.bu idk how to open back all of them.ther are many and iv see many tabs in my history,but i wants last opened of a site,not all times i openes and many duplicates,not last time and not a click for all..

I am trying to find the files for my passwords from an old profile after Firefox just updated and created a new profile. I have just created a Mozzilla account so my profile can start to automatically update with all of my old passwords, but I first need to manually transfer them from my old profile that didn't have a Mozzilla account yet. I have been following the steps for doing so from the "help" pages, but I haven't been able to find the files for my passwords.

All my bookmarks and history were erased when Focus was (automatically) installed. Same with passwords generated by Firefox. How do I get all this back? It should be in my original profile, but that seems to be gone, too.

I just moved to a new Windows 11 PC from my Windows 10 PC. I backed up my Firefox profile and put it on a portable drive. I loaded Firefox on the new PC and then found the folder where the profiles are. I added the profile folder from the backup. Firefox has not found it and there is no way I've been able to discern to search for it.

I added the anti-virus after trying to set up Firefox.

Here are the particulars: Firefox version 146.0.1 (64-bit) Windows 11 Application Binary: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe Profile folder: C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxx.default-release

"The bookmarks and history system will not be functional" error message has suddenly appeared in just the past couple of days on my new DELL Inspiron 15 3535 with Windows 11. I have followed the first few items on the Mozilla Support page that comes up as soon as the initial Firefox opening page appears and that has not corrected the problem.

I have tried to follow the next few steps but can't really find what it calls for because I don't understand what it's talking about. I am not of the tech generation and do not speak the tech language. Most of the terms in there I do not know what or where they are on the laptop.

Is there anybody who could help me saw through the terminology and give me some ideas on how to simply solve my problem? All I really want to do is get to where my bookmarks are hidden and put them back in place where I can use them again.

I was using my computer normally until I noticed one of my applications had an error. I could not close the error message the normal way, so I decided it would be a good idea to hit the "end task" on the error message, which caused a blue screen error. "No worries," I thought, "I'll be able to get back to where I was right after my computer restarts." Oh, how wrong I was. Upon logging in to my computer, Firefox opened to... the screen I got when i first installed it? As it turns out, the Mozilla folder in my AppData folder was completely erased, along with all its contents. Is there a way to get my data back?

After viewing a livestream on Mozilla browser my screen locked up and I had to restart/reboot. When it reloaded all my settings and presets on my homescreen were gone or changed? How can I restore my mozilla settings and profile to an earlier time to reset to my original settings?

I was prompted to do an update today and it erased all my bookmarks. I have a saved bookmark file that is a JSON file type but it won't let me import that b/c it's not HTML. I have a lot of saved bookmarks for work and really need to get them back.

All of my bookmarks disappeared. I have followed all the step to restore from the profile folder and to restore manually. It works to a point, then I get an error message saying Firefox is unable to process the backup file (see attached image). I even tried it in Troubleshooting mode.

Yesterday, I lost most of my bookmarks in several Bookmarks folders. These are critical to my work with several non-profit organizations. All efforts to follow Mozilla's troubleshooting advice and use the Manage Bookmarks functions to restore or import backups in my Profiles folders are met with the "Unable to process the backup file." message. I have a number of backups available, any of which could potentially resolve this issue, but nothing I have tried is working. Please help! Thanks, Shack

A couple of updates ago, I received the message that some of my bookmarks will not be available. So I ran through the trouble shooting FAQs and I ran into a problem. When I go into Manage Bookmarks and it brings up my now empty library, when I select Import/Backup then Restore, it will not show me any files to restore from. Additionally, I used Fx File Utilities and it show the corrupt entry that I cannot remove, but allows me to export the json file to an html file so I can import it, but once again, when I select Import from HTML, it shows me no available files to restore from. Lastly, I imported the html file in to Chrome and then tried the option to import from another browser, but again, it will not allow me to select anything.

I have confirmed the integrity of the db as instructed, etc. So I have run out of options. How can I get my 15+ years of bookmarks back?
