I have a web page that saves some data into local storage (localStorage.setItem). When I either close the tab or close the browser, the data is removed. When I use Chrome, the data is still there.

Is this normal behavior for FireFox? How can I have the data persist? Do I need to configure FireFox differently?

The problem? I am having trouble with Local Storage.

I tried restoring different profiles from different days from Time Machine. I managed to get one where things seemed to work. Until I quit and restarted firefox.

Mega (mega.nz) tells me: Sorry, we were unable to initialize the browser's local storage, either you're using an outdated/misconfigured browser or it's something from our side.

If you think it's our fault, please report the issue back to us.

Trimps (trimps.github.io) tells me:

Your browser is preventing Trimps from accessing localStorage, and you will not be able to save or load your progress. Please check your browser settings to ensure that 3rd party cookies are not disabled, and that you're not using any addons that might interrupt storage!

AutoSave has been disabled to prevent damage to your save. If you previously had a save file, it should still be waiting for you once you fix your browser settings.

Antimatter dimensions (ivark.github.io) just shows me a brand-new game, 9 months of progress lost.

Preferences -> advanced only lists 5 sites with offline data, all of them listed with 0 bytes. Two of these are twitter, the other three are unknown.

Profile_dir/storage has three folders -- temporary, default, permanent -- and inside there are lots of folders for various websites. But I don't see one for either github.io site. Permissions on these folders are normal. But the dates are mostly OLD.

But, only mostly. If I just open firefox, and then close a minute or two later, a bunch of them are updated to "now". Even if I am not visiting the site in question.

I just updated to Firefox 70. Several sites no longer function. Fast.com hangs. Facebook let's me log in, but then fails to load. Ebay login in is grayed out. Yahoo loads about half the page then hangs. Even the firefox site has issues. When I tried to establish a new Firefox Account it said my cookies were disabled. I followed instructions to set Enhanced Tracking to custom and unchecked cookies and no help. I then unchecked everything under custom, still no good. I even added Firefox.com to the allowed cookies exceptions and it still said my cookies were disabled. I finally set up a Firefox Account using EDGE! Please somebody help get Firefox 70 fixed or tell me how to roll back to the previous version. Thanks.

Background: My computer was acting up and, going into task manager, I brazenly exited out of some of the processes of Firefox thinking it might help. Obviously it didn't help and I'm sure at this point I just need to reinstall because it's basically been slowing my computer to a halt every time I've tried to use it since then, but weirdly enough, it completely messed up my extensions too*, even though nothing else regarding settings nor my profile was affected.

I'm fine manually reinstalling the extensions, especially considering I can carry over bookmarks and history anyway, but I must have had thousands of elements blocked on uBlock, all of which are gone, and there's a lot of styles that I don't know if I'd be able to find again as well. If there's some way to retrieve the data related to these extensions if it still exists somewhere, like the aforementioned blocked elements and styles, or scripts on Tampermonkey, or even settings related to the extensions- maybe they're all stored in similar places- then I'd really like to be able to do that. It would be fine just to be able to copy and paste the items back manually again. Even if I can't actually put it back in, it would be nice to be able to retrieve the files where they are so at least it's not wiped out on a reinstall. I realize that it's possible that one of these extensions is causing an issue, but they certainly weren't before this happened (I doubt what I did was actually an issue exacerbated by the extensions and as long as I don't do the same thing again I'd think it would be fine) and either way, even if I don't even use the extensions again, I'd just like to have the data there.

• The extensions themselves aren't uninstalled. Some work normally, some don't, but notably, every time I start Firefox, anything that's stored related to the extension, whether it be settings or just certain specifications, is gone. The toolbar drop-down menus open consistently. For instance, uBlock not only won't actually bring up its element blocker, but it also says it has zero elements blocked since install. Stylus also doesn't work, and all my styles have vanished. Tampermonkey worked running a script on Youtube, but once again, on startup, the script was gone.

Facebook...Blank page...Outlook...Their logo only shows...BofA...No clickable space. Other sites...too many to mention, only show partially. I couldn't go to Mozilla page. Sending this in Edge.

Remaking this thread because my old one (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1249273#answer-1236713) was archived. The annoying dropdown bar when typing something in the URL thingie appears once more, and I want it to stop doing that.

In addition, with this newest update of Firefox I can no longer view images at imgur, as they're all black... and Netflix has also stopped functioning. Is there a way to fix this please? I don't really want to revert to an older version of Firefox but I'll do it if I must.
