I seem to be encountering various problems since the update to 73, the main one is the profile folder, I dislike the default location so have previously just put my preferred location in appdata\roaming\mozila\profiles.ini but 73 regularly ignores this and puts a basic profile in the default location and alters profile.ini. Using the profile manager does not get any better results. I am also having problems with the home page, I have set a custom page but 73 often resets this to a blank page or sometimes the default home page. I have had to resort to a 'portable' version as 73 constantly resetting things was getting so annoying but the portable does not work well as a default browser.

Hi,

Using Firefox version 83.0 on MacBook Pro 2019 16 inch model. When I pause a video on any webpage, I hear a sudden loud "crack" sound from the speakers. It also happens when I unpause, jump backward or forward in the video. If I mute the sound of the video and try to pause/unpause, there is no problem.

I checked the same situation with other browsers. There are no problems with them.

I hope there is a solution to this.

Thanks.

Hello dear community,

I am using Firefox on two different devices. Thanks to Firefox Sync this is also a wonderful experience.

Recently I created an exception list for websites and their cookies. With the checkmark "delete all cookies when starting Firefox" a great thing. All cookies are deleted, just not those in the whitelist. All good.

Unfortunately the whitelist was not transferred to the other device. However, the option "delete all cookies when starting Firefox" did. Now all cookies are gone and the whitelist too.

Am I doing something wrong? Have I possibly not understood the concept correctly?

Thank you in advance!

Many greetings Sascha

When using Firefox version 89.0.2 (64-bit) on a Mac and editing a Wordpress post using the inbuilt Gutenberg editor the language changes, without notice, from English to what appears to be German. I have checked all my settings in Wordpress and on Firefox and all settings are for English. This does not happen using Safari or Chrome so I suspect it is an issue particular to Firefox. Has anybody else had the same experience or know how I can resolve it?

I love Firefox, but this is driving me nuts.

I've tried all the suggested solutions:

Turned off sync. Turned Primary Password off, then restarted, then turned it back on

It won't stop. It pops up all the damn time. Even in a Private Window. But if I turn it off then anyone can just see what my passwords are?

Up until today, I have been able to watch YouTube videos without any issues.

Today, I tried to watch a video on YouTube and got a green screen with weird blocky images on the left side (it's always the left side).

It's not on every video, and it's YouTube specific. I have tried other video platforms and watching YouTube videos that are embedded on other sites with no issues.

Some Videos on YouTube playback with absolutely no issues.

Some Videos changing the resolution down 1 setting allows playback.

Issue seems to go away when I disable hardware acceleration. As mentioned, there were no issues up until today and nothing has changed on the desktop. It was literally fine up until I went to bed. Woke up this morning and the issue started.

Image of issue attached.

Hi folks. I am looking to copy the Exception List for Cookies and Site Data from one PC to another.

I know the exception list is stored in permissions.sqlite - is it safe to replace this file on the destination PC with the version from the source PC? From what I understand, there is other permission-related information in the file, so I don't want to screw things up.

Maybe there an entirely better way to migrate the list? I have Sync set up, but it doesn't look like this information is part of what's synced.

Thanks in advance!

My apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere:- Windoze 10 Toshiba Laptop, all up to latest revision, Firefox 89.02 64-bit

I maintain a small website written in pretty much basic HTML-5 and each week, have to update and upload a newsletter in .PDF format. Whilst ‘testing’ the website locally on my laptop, I open the html page, click on the link to the newsletter file, and after the usual “What should Firefox do with this file” I click on “open with Firefox” and then receive an error message:-

“[full path to filename] could not be opened, because an unknown error occurred. Try saving to disk first and then opening the file”

As soon as I upload to my hosting service this all works fine ‘online’ but Firefox refuses to open local .PDF’s. If I open with Adobe (default) it works fine. If I try to open any .PDF’s on my local drive, I get the same error. Opening a .PDF on any other ‘online’ website also works fine, just not local files? Any help appreciated.

Hello again, Thanks for fixing the Color Extension. It is working fine now! I just have one last question: How to fix the black background preference loadup links tabs on the main tab page. They should be white. Can I fix it from my end? It is making it difficult to make a few of my designs look right. (See picture below.) I see there is no way to fix this in the Extension, even under the advanced tab. Thanks for any help. Have a good day!

Hi, I use Firefox version 89.0.2 (64-bit).

Video on Youtube plays, Video on Netflix works well, Streaming on Peacock TV works too.

So what's the secret to playing a Video (usually with a news article) on www.msn.com. These videos I am using msn.com, because that's where I sign in to my Outlook.com (online) e-mail. Yes, I am behind the times.

(I would have liked to use Thunderbird, but since it did not work straight out of the box, and there was no advice about things like "proxies, IMAP, POP3, etc" from anyone here at Firefox, I could not make it work, hence stuck with the e-mail system which is constantly renamed by MSFT from MSN, to Hotmail, to live.com, to Outlook, to Outlook.Live.com. As if renaming something would make it better...)

If I knew how, I'd be fine to activate "MS Media Player", or that "VLC player" within Firefox. Reasonable people are ok with finding out which lid fits on which pot, and which screwdriver works with different types of screws.

Why software people cannot appreciate the concept of "for this task, you need this tool", and make it simple and clear to do so, that will forever remain a mystery to me.

So, does anyone here at Firefox have the basic pride of saying to themselves: "There has got to be a way to do this!" and then work the problem until it is solved? For example, why can't I "right-click" on the misbehaving video clip, and get an option "Play video via this or that player"? It can't be that hard, you could even have it in a separate window, if that's required for one of myriads of software reasons no one can ever explain.
