A few days ago, I accidentally closed 1 window (clicked the "X" in the upper-right corner) that had 248 tabs in it, without realizing it. Since then, I've 'properly' closed Firefox (Menu icon; Exit) and reopened it again many times. I have 3 other windows open in my current session, each with many-hundreds of tabs in them (one has 1335 tabs!).

Fortunately, I have an archived copy of my entire Profiles folder from a month ago. Saving aside my current sessionstore.jsonlz4 file, and substituting the month-old one into its place, then restarting Firefox, shows me that I still have that old 'lost' window there (with all 248 tabs intact), along with the other (old) 3 windows. But I've made a lot of changes to the tabs in those other 3 windows since I 'lost' the 4th one; so I can't just use that backup of all 4 windows, going forward now. I need to recover that 4th window, into my current session.

Is there some way to make a copy of one entire window (with all its contained tabs with their titles and URLs) from one session, close Firefox, then open a new Firefox session and 'paste' those contents into a new (empty) window?

I downloaded the "Copy All Tab Urls" Add-on (by Michele Pezza), which allows me to copy that one window's 248 'lost' tabs (titles and URLs) to my clipboard. Which is fine for pasting that list into a Word document. But I can't figure out how to 'paste' that list into a new Firefox window, as properly-configured individual tabs. Or, maybe there's some other solution?

I can't be the only one who's accidentally closed a big fat window inside a multi-window session, and gone too far from the event to simply restore the whole session from a backup. Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

When my Firefox browser is open and I open a saved PDF file (previously converted and saved from a Word document) it opens in the browser as a Word document. Also, Word files open in the browser. I have changed the action from the content type in the General Section under Options to use my PDF and Word 16 applications. I noticed that the content type for Word is MS Word 1997-2003, which is pretty old and not sure why that would be the content in 2020. Could this be causing the issue? This is frustrating because I want to be working within the applications themselves and not in a Firefox tab. Attached is two screenshots of the Applications in the Options General section that show all the application options.

Using Firefox 83.0 on Windows 7 and Windows 10, no plugins or extensions installed.

  • I open a HTML page on server https://secure...
  • The page successfully loads lots of scripts and other resources from server https://deimos...
  • When using an XHR request to access an ODATA resource on https://deimos... the request is marked as "blocked" in DevTools, see screenshot
  • When hovering the "blocked" icon in the console, "blocked by DevTools" is displayed
  • The page works fine in Chromium based browsers (tested Edge, Chrome, Firefox)
  • The page works fine if it is hosted on https://deimos... instead of https://secure... (that's why I assume that it is some Cross-Origin issue)
  • The server provides Access-Control-* headers, see screenshot. The headers provided for the blocked XHR request are the same if I check them in the chromium based browsers.
  • There is no sign (like a pre-flight OPTIONS request) of the blocked request in the web server logs
  • Only requestr which use credentials are blocked. Other XHR-requests without credentials (like the one following the blocked request on the screenshot) seem to succeed.

I played around with the "Content-Security-Policy" meta tag in the document, with no success. For requests blocked by this policy, DevTools explicitly displayed the Content Security Policy as the reason for blocking the request.

I found lots of posts on the net concerning the Access-Control-Allow-Credentials header, also I found that for requests with credentials the Access-Control-Allow-Origin header must not return "*". IMHO those are correctly provided by my server.

Any idea of what is going wrong here? I can provide the link to access the page in a personal mail...

Kind regards Ted

No matter what I've tried I cannot get Firefox (updated always) to fill in my street address along with all the other information it fills in when I use autofill? That is the only thing that is left empty and it is always left empty no matter what site I land on. I've tried deleting the saved addresses and reinstalling new ones and editing and writing them over and no matter what I've tried it will not fill in my street address? What can I do please? I was going to add a picture but then all my info would be available to everyone and anyone.

Trying to maintain a large Bookmarks list curated over a couple of decades and formerly managed in Xmarks.

Please help clarify: What is the relationship between Bookmarks Menu, Bookmarks Toolbar and Library view?

How can I create a single nested folder structure that will sync consistently via Firefox and across browsers and OS? Presently a regular user of multiple OS and both Firefox & Chrome browsers.

Have so far used "Bookmark Dupes" to dedup & remove empty folders. However I am getting "echoes" in the folder structure after deduplicating and manually reorganizing: Should Bookmarks Menu or Bookmarks Toolbar be the top level to build an exportable tree?

Happy to volunteer on documenting or on developing with a more knowledgeable person! Thank you!

If I've been leaving Firefox (v83.0, 64-bit) open for a long time, it's because I'm on Facebook and YouTube. However, after long sessions on Facebook, when I switch to YouTube, I'll get two really annoying effects:

1) When I start watching a video, the Firefox browser will start grinding away at my hard drive, as if Windows Defrag function started running in the background - that level of grinding. I know this because I checked it with Windows Process Explorer, and there were multiple instances of Firefox running, sometimes as many as 7 instances. I don't know what Firefox is doing, but it was impacting my computer's performance, **even if I stopped the video I was watching and all other programs **. The only way to get it to stop was to close Firefox, and then re-open it with Restart Previous Session, and then it quit.

I don't know why Firefox needs 7 sessions open at once, but they're not mine, and they're grinding performance badly. Can anyone tell me why this is happening, and if it's possible to stop it?

2) Linked to #1 is a huge lag problem at times when I use YouTube, which goes away when I restart Firefox. I'll click on a link in YouTube, and literally nothing happens for as much as 3 seconds. Restart Firefox, and it goes away.

I'm wondering if there's a huge memory leak in Firefox, and if there's any way to check that.

I've got 32 GB of RAM, an I7 CPU, and hundreds of GB of disk space, so none of this should be happening. Any ideas?

For years, I have been using cntrl shift b to display all of the bookmarks. With the most recent update, that has changed to cntrl shift o and b is used to display/hide the bookmarks toolbar. 1.) I don't want the bookmarks toolbar - I see it as a waste of screen space. 2.) cntrl shift b is an easy one handed operation. cntrl shft o is not.

How do I lose the toolbar? How do I get the shortcut back the way it was?

My youtube videos began to lag like it's 15 fps after some time. Futhermore, then movies on hd.kinopoisk begam to lag too. It looks like that: for some time it's ok, then the "15 fps time" begins, I pause the video, go out of the fullscreen, unpause, go fullscreen back, and it's again ok for some time, but then all situation repeats again and again. There's no such problem in Chrome. Does somebody have the same problem? What can I do?

I work on local web platform where I need to have quick access to several thousands of Word documents. I access these docs by clicking a link on the platform. To speed up things, I had all the file associations saved in this file:

Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile_name>\handlers.json

This way, each file opens quickly, without Firefox asking me about the application I'd like to use to open it.

These associations also show up in this menu: 'OPTIONS -> GENERAL -> FILE & APLICATIONS -> Choose how Firefox handles the files you download from the web or the applications you use while browsing.'

Ever since updating Firefox to version 84.0, this no longer works, as Firefox is once again showing up a small window, with this question:

"Allow this site to open the '<file_association_name>' link?"

I believe something changed with this latest version, as I have not changed anything to my configuration.

My goal is to save these associations so that I can skip this question when opening a file. Checking the "always allow" option won't help me that much since I have thousands of Word files.

So, it used to work by saving these associations to the 'handlers.json' file, but ever since I updated to the latest version, this no longer works.

Any idea about what could be the problem?

Thank you,

Alex
