I am trying to use a <select> tag to display a color selector. So each <option> has a background color to match its displayed text:

On Chrome this displays as expected:

But on Firefox the background colors are ignored:

How can I get Firefox to display the background colors?

I see my original question is now archived at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1380948#question-reply I never closed it because I didn't know if my last process could really fix the issue. It didn't, not always. Over the years, there have been times when the issue would still pop up, but not as often as before (2022 and earlier).

I have a feeling that during an issue, FF is having difficulty setting up shop after starting up. Consequently, it is spending more time before it could become prepared to connect to the Net. I've come up with another "solution," which is deleting (or moving out) xulstore.json in the profile folder after exiting or before starting FF. You can create a batch command or script to execute the process.

So far, FF is connecting immediately after startup.

What the title says. While I was doing school work my session crashed and I lost all of my work. Upon reopening Firefox I was told my browser had installed the latest update for Windows. I then checked my crash logs and saw my session had crashed and Firefox had installed the update. Why could have this been? I would like a solution to this to ensure this doesn't haven't happen again. Thanks.

I'm using Firefox with Google as my default search engine. When ever I try to type in the Google search box, what I am typing appears in the address bar. I want to search in the Google search box as it is at eye level for what I am doing. I have tried all sorts of ideas from the web to fix this but no joy. Does anyone know how I disable this? I opened my laptop out of sleep mode and it quickly reset itself, and when it loaded back up Firefox no longer worked. Everything was working fine prior to the reset, but now I can load any websites, nor do any of the menus within Firefox work. I keep clicking on the menu button in the top right, but nothing happens. The only thing that seems to work is the add-ons icon. I can click that and it navigates me to the add-ons page, and from there I can get in to my settings, but that's it.

No websites will load at all. I've already tried configuring my firewall to allow Firefox, and I've removed it and re-added it to my exceptions list, but nothing seems to work.

Does anyone know what might be causing this, and what can be done to fix it?

When saving/opening file dialog is on screen the whole program freezes and take forever to unfreeze to the point I have to force quite the program. The problem seems to be only in Firefox.

Safe mode - same problem, Have done a complete refresh - same problem. Clean uninstall and reinstall - same problem.

Have moved to Chrome - similar problems.

My Thunderbird email on my PC will only open intermittently in the last few days. Re-starting my computer sometimes helps, but only temporarily. There are no error messages- just nothing happens. I am still able to access email on other devices - just not on PC - which I use a lot. I'd be grateful for ideas of how to fix this. Thank you, Pam Rycroft

I was looking for an item that would be a couple of years back in my history, only to discover that my history now only goes back a year and 3 months… Exactly, as of today, I don't know if that's meaningful. Does anyone have any idea what might've happened, and how I can restore the rest of my history? Thank you!

I'm on a Mac using Mojave, with Firefox version 115.8.

My Windows 10 PC stopped working a few days & is disconnected & partially disassembled. I’m temporarily using an old Windows 7 PC which I brought up from the basement the following day. They both have Firefox on them.

I saved one bookmark on the Win7 PC today. It was there when I looked earlier. Now I went to use it again & it’s not there. But my Win10 bookmarks are there!!

How could that be?

Had to replace FF with Chrome in order to play DRM content on my W11 laptop. I get message saying you are downloading remedy, but nothing ever changes. Would prefer to continue 15+ year relationship with FF, but seems like youre abandoning capabilities for DRM video content?

I keep trying, but to no avail. Gmail works with Chrome on my PC. How can I fix this?

I've just updated to Firefox 125 and now, when I start to type in the URL bar and get my suggestion dropdown of previously visited pages, I no longer can see the actual url for each entry. All I see is the top level name for each entry.

This is not helpful, as I may have perviously visited a number of pages on that site and the information shown does not give me a way to differentiate sufficiently between those pages.

How can I get the exact url displayed on the suggestions dropdown.

When I open firefox in ubuntu linux. (WSLg) Fresh install. I can't go to settings in firefox. Steps: press the hamburger menu, press settings, nothing happens.

Recent issue, April 2024. Had version 124 Firefox on Win10 computer and went to Help - > About to have Firefox check for updates. This has worked just fine up until now. The message "Failed to check for updates." is shown in the About screen. I have uninstalled and re-installed Firefox with the same results. Have also un-installed Firefox, un-installed Mozilla Maintenance, then removed Firefox data from App Data folder in user directory, then re-installed with the same results. Also, now when I access a local media server, I keep getting the message "Firefox is installing components needed" and that never goes away. Any ideas?

To upload/import bookmarks into Firefox, the file extension of JSON is required. However from old crashed computer, I exported bookmarks in Excel. Please help. Thanks
