Dear Community: What settings can I use so that the sites I continually use recognize me. I have to sign into my email many times a day and also to the New York Times Games which I subscribe to. Is there a way to allow these sites to recognize me without having to go through signing in each time. Even if I log out and a minute later I need to go back on. I have to go through the rigamarole of signing in yet again.

I do not have to do this on my phone as the sites recognize me. I used to be able to do this on this computer also now I can no longer do it. I believe there is something in Firefox settings that is causing this but I don't know what it is or how to change the settings that are causing this.

Firefox Extension: Permission issue while accessing page content (similar to RankingsFactor SEO Chrome Extension)

I’ve developed a Firefox extension similar to the RankingsFactor SEO Chrome Extension, which analyzes on-page SEO elements such as meta tags, headings, links, and canonical tags.

The core functionality works fine in Chrome, but when I ported it to Firefox using the WebExtensions API, I’m facing permission issues while trying to access or read the page content (DOM).

Here’s what I’m trying to do:

Inject a content script to read <meta> tags, headings, and links.

Display this extracted data inside my extension popup.

However, in Firefox, the script doesn’t seem to have proper access to the page DOM — even though I’ve included "permissions": ["activeTab", "tabs", "<all_urls>"] in manifest.json.

I’d like to know:

Are there any additional permissions required in Firefox to read page content?

Does Firefox handle activeTab or content_scripts differently than Chrome?

Is there a specific event or user action needed to grant temporary permissions?

Any help, code examples, or guidance on fixing these permission restrictions would be appreciated.

Greetings, I have a problem with Firefox taking too long to load websites after login, while Edge loads websites immediately. It happens every time I lift the laptop lid and login. I have restarted Windows 11 and tested the load times of Firefox and Edge a while ago by going to Google. Edge loaded Google after 5 seconds, while Firefox 3 minutes and 25 seconds. That's long. Sometimes Firefox loads a webpage 10 minutes after login.

What could be the issue here and how do I fix it? I have the following extensions and I'm sure that they do not hinder Firefox.

I don't know if this is the proper topic, but I'm not sure what to call it. For the longest time I've had an issue with the settings being reset every time I open the browser - all my add-ons are off, all my configurations return to the original state, every single time. I have to manually turn them on all over again every time. Does anybody else has the same issue? Can it be solved somehow? Do I need to redownload Firefox or something?

Hi everyone,

I've got a real curious problem. I'm a student at Berkeley City College. Firefox is my preferred browser. Sometime this semester, I stopped being able to access Google.com or any google subdomain sites like Google Calendar while using Firefox Desktop at school. Here's where it gets really weird. This only happens when I using firefox windows desktop while also being on the school network. If I switch to my phone tether network then I can access Google just fine. If I launch a different browser (that is not Firefox based) like Chrome, it works just fine. I tried accessing google using Waterfox on the campus network and encountered the same problem. I consider myself to be somewhat technically proficient but this is confounding me. How could the sites at a specific domain be blocked only while using a specific browser on a specific network???
