It crashes whenever I try to look at my Facebook updates (scrolling down), happened only recently when I updated to FireFox 38

The other day I had an update for a program I already have. Like always it asked me if I wanted to install some toolbar and whatnot. And like always I clicked all the "No" boxes and updated like normal thinking it would honor my request.

It didn't.

Thinking I had just missed something I went to my Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, uninstalled it and thought that was that.

It wasn't.

I get on this morning and it's still trolling my search engines and pages. I went to the Firefox help page to find any solutions but everything I've tried has failed! I've tried the "about:config" method where I reset all the Babylon stuff (they just come back when I restart) and I tried replacing it in the "keyword" section (it didn't even notice apparently).

I then ran Spybot four times and even ran a new program called Malwarebytes and it didn't change a thing. I even tried System Restore. Twice. Now I'm stuck with this program taking over my FF by adding advertisements in dumb places like all over Youtube and even in my typed text!

I'm at my wits end! There HAS to be some foolproof way of getting rid of it! PLEASE HELP!!

Since two weeks or so, whenever I'm (also) running Firefox 53, all over sudden my whole pc freezes: nothing works anymore, no mouse, no task manager, nothing. FF does not create a crash report (doesn't get a chance to do so) All I can do is a hard reset. This does NOT happen when I'm not using FF. (Sometimes I get a warning that Firefox has stopped, but then it keeps running, so probably one of extensions or add-ons has failed.) I have a stand alone, always fully updates Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 pc. SFC /scannow was ok, CHKDSK had to repair errors in the volume bitmap, and memtest86+/8 passes came clean. I cleaned up FF and am now only running one extension.

There can be three causes: 1. Firefox 53 2. Extension(s) 3. Windows (latest updates) 4. Other/unknown

I generated a memory report, which is abracadabra to me, but I it points out what's wrong and someone can explain what to do. But how can I post the memory-report.json.txt?

I am using the latest Firefox on a Windows 7 32 bit machine.

Unfortunately Firefox has been running very unstable for the last couple of weeks. Below I describe some of the problems:-

-Hanging momentarily ie. cannot click on links - Getting black patches on pages - Pages suddenly started to flash quickly

Things I have done to alleviate the problem

- Have refreshed and reset to default settings. - Have disable hardware acceleration in options - Have uninstalled graphics card driver (ATI), removed card completely and been running with embedded Intel graphics.

Unfortunately none of the above have solved the problem. Please also note I have a couple of addons installed but been running the same configuration on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine and everything works ok.

Willing to send crash reports, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help.

I've been a FireFox user since the original Mozilla 0.9something beta, and I have been happy with it.

Until now.

FireFox 4, it seems, was rushed and released long before it was ready. It locks up. Frequently. In all sorts of different circumstances (downloading, browsing, watching video streaming, restoring after a crash, attempting to clear the download list, etc..). More often than not, I have to close it using the Windows Task Manager. It eats memory. Seriously, do you really expect a browser to consume up to and over 1 GB of memory and people to keep using it? The little add-ons are nice, but with the core functions so flawed, they are of little use.

If you google "i hate firefox 4" you get over 16,900,000 results! That's a public relations nightmare for any company! Do the devs here realize or even care about the damage being done now to their reputation? With extreme dissatisfaction numbers like that, they're going to be bleeding market share, if they haven't already! Even as I was typing this, with the Ask a New Question page the only thing I have open, FireFox locked up for a few moments.

After over a decade of using and support FireFox and it's ancestors, I'm going to be giving IE 9 a try.

SO many issues with Firefox now! For one, it crashes quite a bit. I submit the crash report, and go from there. Keeps happening. But the main thing is this:

I go to "Options" and under "Privacy" it has "Never remember history" - I change it to "use custom settings for history", hit "ok" and then when I go back to it, it's back on "never remember history" already. What gives?

The issues I'm having right now is that I used to click on Print in my email (Yahoo) and pop-up blocker would stop it, but a dialog would pop up saying "try again", and I would hit that, and a separate window would open where I could print the email. Now, when I click on print, NOTHING happens. No box, no changes whatsoever. No pop-ups blocked, nothing at all. I mean, the button for "print" doesn't even react like I clicked on it. Nothing happens.

The other issue is that when there's a text box, if I start to type my email address, it suggests my email address. It never used to do this! I don't want this, either. How can I stop the suggesting of my email address. I don't want it to remember what I typed!

Another issue with Firefox is that when I click on the "menu" button in the top right, there's a question mark that says "open help menu" at the bottom. When I click on that, the help menu is EMPTY. I included a picture so you can see.

I've "reloaded Firefox", as well as downloaded another copy and actually reinstalled it. All these errors keep happening. How can I get them to stop or function correctly? What's causing them to work all wonky?

I'm using Firefox ESR 52.9 because it is the latest version that the Pocket extension still works with. It just suddenly (without any updates or warning) disabled the AdBlock Plus, Roboform, and Google Shortcuts extensions (all of which were working perfectly fine yesterday) because "they cannot be verified." and it isn't giving me the option to re-enable them.

The info at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-ons-disabled-or-fail-to-install-firefox?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=add-ons-failing-install-firefox and https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2019/05/04/update-regarding-add-ons-in-firefox/ is not helpful because the verison of Firefox I have doesn't show the studies option that is referenced there.

And an update that is to Firefox ESR 53 or later also isn't useful because then my old Pocket extension won't work (and that extension is KEY for me). Please provide an immediate fix for Firefox ESR 52.9.

firefox latest update has destroyed my laptop performance, have had to boot from windows recovery and no window fix repairs the damage. anyone any ideas what I can do to resolve the issues? I have tried system restore but that does not work either

Here is what I have tried so far to correct this problem: I have uninstalled and reinstalled FF. Updated my pc's graphic's driver. Started FF in safe mode. All plug-in's are up-to-date.

I am running Win 7 (64-bit). Please help!

Yesterday I had to reinstall Firefox as it did not exist......completely gone.....so I did a new install

Now the issue is and has been is I load Firefox and sometimes I cannot even access anything from the address bar it just sits there.

Its kinda hit and miss I can click on a tab and sometimes my favs are there and its all good. Seems like its doing its own thing..........no no we dont want that :)

What are your suggestions?

The Firefox plugin checker is reporting "vulnerable - Update Now" for my Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.510.13. and Java(TM) Platform SE 7 U51 plugins.

The 'update now' link takes me to the Java download page which invites me to download the latest Plugin 7.51. but i already have 7.51 installed so the plugin checker is incorrectly displaying "vulnerable - Update Now". I have had 7.51 installed since January 17th and run the plugin checker on a weekly basis so i'm not sure why it has suddenly decided that this is a vulnerable plugin.

I have a Dell Windows 7 Professional 64-bit machine. Firefox keeps crashing. "Sorry. Firefox had to close. We'll try to restore your page." (Not exact message.) I have screen shots of the details, which are always the same. The first two lines of the details are: AdapterDeviceID: 0x2e22 AdapterVendorID: 0x8086 With the help of technicians I have tried the following fixes, none of which work: Checked my video drivers. Updated my Intel drivers. Fiddled with the compatibility window. Tried Windows 7 and Windows XP. Checked and unchecked various items. Clicked on Mozilla's "troubleshoot compatibility," which made some changes. I am not computer-savvy. However, anyone who cares to respond can make your suggestions as technical as you need to; I'll share them with my technician.

Firefox 17 is not retaining cookie setting for websites. Besides removing all existing exceptions I had, it will no longer retain exceptions for cookies. I have the basic cookie setting as unchecked for accepting cookies (that is the default is not to accept cookies), but when I add an exception, it does not retain it when I close my browser. This is very serious stuff. I will have to move from my beloved Firefox to something that *does* work. I can't believe you haven't been flooded with complaints. Or maybe you have.

It started happening after i updated my flash plugin version 11.6.602.180 activeX version not installed . I've re installed the flash plugin many times and i have updated my firefox 20.0 every thing i updated dosn't even fix it.I have try all the regarding crashes in firefox,but i have tried all the methods all is updated and still keep constantly crashing i also have Google chrome install on my window.? How do i fix it to not crash any more like this?

After I have finished using Fire Fox and log off, and I come back later, I find that Fire Fox is open to a URL that I have not typed in or even searched on.
