I have search separated from the url bar, and I have Firefox Suggest configured to only use history for tab completion. I've noticed a couple problems.

  • Search is being prioritized over options in my history. I have the separate search box, if I wanted to search I would use it. If I type a single character I want the most common result from my history to be the result of hitting tab.
  • I've noticed recently that I'm getting sponsored results even though I have them disabled. It's somewhat inconsistent, and I've only noticed it in one of my profiles. Specifically I am used to "w <tab>" taking me to weather.gov but I'm getting sponsored results for AccuWeather. I clicked the "feedback -> not interested" button but this is concerning that Firefox is ignoring preferences and there's a pattern of sending data to Google and AccuWeather despite me configuring the browser not to.

I've been noticing for the last month that after a few hours in a browser window, I'll suddenly have a pinned tab for some random website. Some for promotional things, others in languages I don't understand, etc. At first I downloaded a webpage blocker, blocked the ones that were pinned, and deleted the tabs. However, after a short while (an hour or two) they would appear again in pinned tabs only this time it would say website blocked.

I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox in hopes that would solve the issue, but it is still happening. I unpin the tabs and delete them immediately after I notice them, but they keep appearing. I really like using Firefox and use it often for work, but I'm concerned for my personal and work security. What should I do?

I am told to disable pop-up blockers in order to have a payment verified. I do not know what pop-up blockers are, I do not know where they are. When I go to Settings and search for pop-up blockers, I am told "Sorry! There are no results in Settings for "pop-up blockers"; and instructed to visit Firefox Support. I have been sent on this circular quest three times now. Please help me.

You don't indicate what or where this certificate is coming from for any forum user to know what is happening or why it's not being recognized by the browser.

Hello All, I am having issues with my firefox on one of my PC'S going to my office365 online portal for one of my emails. On this PC I am no longer able to authenticate my office 365 account in Firefox. Each time it asks me to login, it tries but then gets stuck going to the and ultimately says

"Microsoft Pick an account "We couldn't sign you in. Please try again."

support virtualbestteam.com support@virtualbestteam.com Signed in

Use another account Terms of use Privacy & cookies ..."

It seems to be the url https://portal.microsoftonline.com/landing when it gets hung up.

I have tried different security settings and clearing cookies, refreshing Firefox, etc. and no success. By on other PC's I can use the way it works on this PC in edge FYI. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance. Chris Ford softwarereality@gmail.com

Hi,

I live in the US, and don't use a VPN. I noticed my firefox is defaulting to sending DNS over HTTPS requests to the default Canadian DNS over HTTPS, rather than the US provider. How can I change my firefox settings to not think I'm Canadian?

Thanks.

How do I stop Firefox from out of control data clearing? There is a window under Privacy & Security / History / Clear History that opens a window that allows a user, in theory, to choose which components to clear (cookies, cache, etc.) In that window is a pull down menu to specify the time range to clear. A screen shot of that is attached. I do NOT want my cookies cleared unless I say so. I do not want cookies or some of the other components cleared from the last hour, I don't want them cleared from the last two hours or the last four hours or today. (And the "Everything" reference does not make sense syntactically in this setting.) A screen shot of that menu is attached.

It does not matter if I uncheck one or all of those boxes by cookies, cache, etc. When I open the browser the next time, they are checked again -- AND THE MOFO COOKIES HAVE TO BE MANAGED AGAIN, ETC., ETC., ETC.

What have a setting if Firefox is going to arbitrarily clear everything immediately or once and hour or by some criterion it has not revealed to the user -- nor has informed the user exists?

Anyone have any thoughts on a work-around?

Thanks.

I'm running Mac OS 12.6.6 and Firefox 114.0.1. When I try to log into my Google account, I get the message, "This browser or app may not be secure." I'm running the current version. Javascript is enabled. I've cleared my caches and data. I can log in to Google on other browsers, such as Safari. • This happened after I set up my browser to use Bing Chat, which required that I clear my cache and data.
