Firefox recently changed my primary language on ALL WEBSITES from English to French. I've tried to reset default language to English using Options>Language but it doesn't make the change. I've refreshed Firefox. I've removed both French and English as primary language and then chosen English again. Nothing works. Thanks for assistance.

Hi So my problem started a few days ago i don't remember exactly when. The graphs on the binance exchange site have stopped updating for me on Firefox. I mean when i load the page with the graph in it the graph is static and i have to keep refreshing the entire page to see changes in the graph. I should mention that the graphs on a different site that i use work fine and display the prices in real time.

I also had microsoft edge and the same problem happens there too but today i installed chrome and the problem in NOT present there. So the site and graphs update and work properly in chrome but not in Firefox or edge. I prefer to use Firefox for everything!

-I tried Firefox safe mode and the problem is still there. -I also made a new Firefox profile and the problem is still there. -Finally i even refreshed Firefox but even that didnt fix the problem. I should mention that i have Firefox sync enabled so after i refreshed Firefox it automatically installed back all my addons (and other settings?) so even though it is refreshed it looks and behaves exactly like before i don't know if that "cancels" the effects of the refresh.

I am running win10 and my antivirus is kaspersky. I had Kaspesky on "pause protection" while i was troubleshooting but that didnt help either. I hope i managed to explain everything because i find it hard to express my self in English. If you need me to clarify anything let me know. I hope someone can help me with this because I don't know what else to try.

Thanks in advance Kiri

Hello,

I like Firefox unfortunately all browsers are so 1999... It is impossible to use without addons, if you browser internet a lot and have opened a lot of tabs and windows. I bumped into this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1155401 Saying: this will open another instance of Firefox. But nothing is bulletproof! So ask, if this will isolate me from addons, which I would open in first instance of Firefox.

Thanks for help.

Windows 10, 64 bit. Firefox ver 87 For the past several days I have not been able to sign into my online banking at Scotiabank. When I enter my user name and password I immediately get an error message "Sorry, we couldn't complete your request". At the top it says "something went wrong" and the message comes from the Scotiabank site saying "generic-error". I've tried refreshing Firefox, removing all cache and cookies. Have tried restarting the computer. I note that Firefox appears to have updated itself on April 3rd and that appears to be when the problem started...could be just coincidental. Other web sites appear fine. I can use Microsoft Edge to log in to Scotiabank just fine as well, but I prefer Firefox. Anyone have thoughts on this? Thanks

Apologies for asking this here, but I've done the Google and can't find an answer.

Background: I keep 2-3 Firefox versions and profiles on my computer. The software is in, for example, directories FFox82, FFox84, FFox86 The profiles are in, for example, directories Firefox82, Firefox84, Firefox86 (The software and profiles are on different drives.)

When I do an upgrade, I copy the newest software to a new directory and rename it (e.g., FFox92 - so now there are 4 sw directories) Then I copy the newest profile directory and give it a corresponding name (e.g., Firefox92 - so now there are 4 profile directories). I install the new version to its directory and thenlaunch with a -p option. Then I create a new profile and point it to the corresponding folder. Then I launch the new version with the -p option pointing to the new profile directory.

This has worked for decades.

But I just tried it with Firefox 90 and Firefox 92 and NO GO. It acts as if I've never used Firefox before. No apps, no toolbars, no bookmarks, nothing.

What is going on? Am I stuck on Firefox86 for the rest of the century?

And, please, don't tell me how wonderful these new versions are and I should simply accept the change. I have a virtual lifetime invested in the toolbars, extensions and bookmarks on my computer.

I simply want to know if there is a fix and, if so, what it is.

Hi all!

I'm having an issue where Firefox is only remembering that I'm signed into certain accounts.

Let me explain what I mean:

Firefox has no problem remembering that I've signed into my Google account or my Amazon account. However, every time I close and open Firefox, it reloads three extension pages (evernote, twoseven, and pushbullet if you're curious) as though I had JUST installed them for the first time and asking me to sign in to them.

In addition, if I attempt to use Google's text for web feature, I have to sign back in with my phone (scan a QR code) if I close the window at all, even if I select the option for Google to "Remember this browser".

Obviously these could be separate issues, but they seem related to my lay understanding. Would appreciate any help. Thanks!

I lost some of my bookmarks (I have 19000) when my cat stepped on my keyboard. No problem i make a daily back-up of my bookmarks since they are so precious for me (Thousand of BM are related too my work) It's not the first time I restore and I never encountered any probleme before. This morning, I did the usual but FF crashed and I had to restart my computer a few time. At one point, and I have no clue why, it restored a part of the BM but not the pesonal bar which is the most important since that's where I keep my BM for my research work.

Is the file too big now (It's about 5 Mo) if so why am-i not advise by FF when I save? Otherwise what could be the source of my problem??

Thanks

Hi to All I am user of firefox on several windows 10 computers, probably 7 different computers. I want to point out the huge memory usage in firefox on absolutely different computers and I want to resolve this brainless problem. At beginning, probably in 2016 I began to notice big memory usage in firefox with many of tabs opened, probably over 100... yes, 100 tabs is too much but even so, memory usage seemed inappropriate to me, especially when before it working on computers with low memory installed. I started solving huge memory usage by restarting firefox, usually killing firefox through taskmanager on windows. But about a year ago I started using Firefox on several computers for loading some pages and I programmed automations of some tasks on this pages. This tasks includes clicking on buttons on pages, entering values and loading new links, subpages.... This all always in one tab and in one firefox window and after some time, firefox on every computers start using over 3GB of memory, in one tab and one window??? It is galactic amount. Of course, processes on computers was crashing. Depending on the page, that was severed from 12 hours to several days. Therefore I started some researching in this and I tried to reduce memory usage by settings in about:config: browser.sessionstore.max_serialize_back = 0 browser.sessionstore.max_serialize_forward = 0 browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo = 0 browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo = 0

browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers = 1 browser.sessionhistory.max_entries = 1 but this last parameter have no effect, why??? After this settings my solution working, but it is little bit breaknecking: After some steps in automation I open new tab and close prewious tab and load page again and memory usage drops from 1,5GB to approx 500MB (Due to browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo = 0) Excuse me but this behaviour is very terrible.

browser.sessionhistory.max_entries I trying to reduce to 1 but this setting have no effect (I can back to new tab page), sometimes take effect only in just running instance when I change it and number must be higher than 5 or 10? Sometimes take effect, sometimes no, but after restart firefox again without effect. Due to this nonsense memory accumulation per each one tab I want to tweak firefox on my working computer. I not need galactic number - 50!!! or even more? pages in "back button" in memory per each tab, and there are no way to reduce it without restart, only way to release memory is set browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo to 0, open new tab, and close old tab and then memory usage very drop...

Next, I searched in about:config by keyword "session" and found browser.sessionstore.cleanup.forget_closed_after default equals to 1209600000 which means 14 days... oh so galactic... Normally firefox is unusable after few days without restarting, developers recommends to restart firefox for memory free up, but default value for this option sets to this huge number? Are they kidding users or what? After all, with this setting and behaviour, it almost never applies. And how much such nonsenses does firefox still contain? I am very angry for this several-years lasting memory issue because firefox is my favourite web browser. According to what I found on the internet, developers stubbornly ignoring or refuse to find effective solution but it would be so simple. Probably only memory release button would suffice, which would remove all cached pages. But "true release/free up memory button". User would had to accept, that all back/reopen actions will be discarded. No dummy/parody button in about:memory. ooooh "minimize memory usage" which free up probably max of 15%, normally about 5% of used memory. I tried "firemin" too, but this is next parody... this rapidly decrease of memory which appears as super, but causes totally pause of processes on page and when you need do some action on page, another time is needed for reloading(wake up) the almost same amount of memory as before minimization by this program - in short, this is suitable just only for temporary minimization of memory usage, something like pause firefox.

Therefore please, Can someone really help? (Not kidding like: about:memory, firemin or other unusable "nosolutions") This problem has been consuming me for so long that I quietly started to think that the only way to resolve it is to reprogram and recompile my own firefox, but that is quite unrealistic for me.

All the family use my PC with their own user accounts. Frequently Firefox goes slow and whenever I check 'About Firefox' I see 'Firefox is being updated by another instance'. This means that I have to log off all other users and then let my Firefox run an update check which, of course, normally just comes back with 'up to date'.

The problems are normally evidenced by Firefox just being very slow and/or only showing parts of the page and those parts changing as and when the page is scrolled.

This is a real problem with Firefox and makes it very unpopular with my family due to its unreliability.

Could not Firefox be set to only do an update check when it can actually complete the check and/or update.

Any advice appreciated.,

thanks,

Rob
