I'm a cybersecurity professional and I'm researching about Same Origin Policy, Cross Origin Resource Sharing and how firefox deal with those things. I've find out that versions before 102.1.0esr, cross-origin script GET requests used to attach cookies (Image 1), but in newer versions, it's not happening (Image 2). I checked the release notes but didn't find nothing about this change.

I would like to learn more about what changed and how Firefox is dealing with cookies, SOP and CORS.

Thanks!

Hello,

NOTICE: Currently using Firefox 120.0.1 "Update disabled by your system administrator" I am unable to update the browser, the computers are from the public library.

Like I state in the Subject, I configure the browser to strict privacy level, and I am able to visit any site I want. No problem. But on all of these, when I click the lock icon on the address bar I read "Connection verified by a certificate issuer that is not recognized by Mozilla." In fact, right now, I am visiting this website and I got that notice. View image "Firefox broser does not recognize the certificate issuer fortinet but I can visit the firefox suport website - Screenshot 2024-01-28 172732.png"

WOW... View the image "certificate issuer not recognized by Firefox - fortinet - when visiting support.firefox.com - Screenshot 2024-01-28 173041.png" for some of the info I get if I view more information about the certificate.

Then, after I logged out, the "Clear cookies and site data" link that appears after clicking the lock icon I mentioned before do not appear.

View the image "UNable to clear cookies and site data - proton.me - Screenshot 2024-01-28 141951 - edited.png"

In this same computer, I got the control "Clear cookies and site data." View image "able to clear cookies and site data - virustotal.com - Screenshot 2024-01-28 141825.png"

So more than one question:

I read other posts where users are unable to visit a website which has a certificate issued by an issuer that is not recognized by Mozilla. Why am I able to visit these websites?

What can I expect of the non appearing "Clear cookies and site data" link I described before?

Are these computers like totally hacked?

Artifacts on Youtube videoes when hardware acceleration is enabled. These artifacts is not there playing video on Chrome with hardware acceleration. Disabling acceleration removes artifacts, but videos runs poorly. These artifacts also appears in regular browsing. Intel GPU on latest driver. Since it works in Chrome with the same GPU on the same driver, the problem is in Firefox. Artifacts not there when running Furmark gfx burn in. So problem is not in the hardware. Problem still persistent even on numerous updates of Firefox. Windows 11, Intel HD Graphics 620 GFX, latest driver, latest Firefox.

Hi,

I attend Berklee online and the learning environment has videos as well as empty spaces to write answers and text. Whenever I enter the empty space to write text, every press of the spacebar starts and stops multiple videos on that page.

Their strict advice is to use Chrome, but that is the last thing I want to do.

Good afternoon

I have been using your browser for a decade to autofill in the CGS Medicare site and it has been lovely and time saving. Roughly two or three weeks ago, it no longer populates information without a little prompting and then it is putting information in the wrong areas on the form. I have contacted I.T. with CGS and they state nothing has changed. A co-worker suggested I contact you to see if my browser could be fixed to autofill like it did before or to remove whatever update happened two or three weeks ago and go back to the older version.

I have disabled autofill and restarted my computer; then enabled it again and restarted my computer. It still has to be prompte in more areas to autofill and even then it will populate that information in the wrong area.

I hope you can follow my train of thought in trying to explain what is happening.

Any help to restore to the perfect way it was autofilling before would be much appreciated.

Thank you Theresa

So I just picked up a new laptop (ASUS Vivobook 16x), and everything is fresh on it. Additionally, this only affects some video content in Firefox, with Edge browser unaffected. In brief, what is happening is that within a couple hours of having the browser open, certain video content stops working, specifically Twitter/X videos just spin, YouTube previews stop working, and videos continually load. Netflix videos continue to work, but hover previews stop functioning. I even check the 'Stats for Nerds' on YT and it shows 0 KB network activity in Firefox.

I've tried every basic action I can think of:

  • Turning off extensions (only use Ublock and Bitwarden)
  • Browser Refresh (x3)
  • Reverting from 120.1 to 120.0, and now 199.0.1
  • Clearing the browser cache
  • Reinstalling NVidia and Intel Drivers
  • Running in Safe Mode

Only by doing a refresh or completely closing/opening the app gets videos to function again. This doesn't affect the old laptop or my desktop, which makes me think it's a rogue driver--but then why would Edge function without error over the same period of time?

Are there any settings to play with in the browser that can help diagnose?

Hello,

I made a download 10 months ago, it failed OK.

But every other week that same old download keeps on restarting and failing.. its some kindof bug.

It then piles up with all failed downloads from the last year and they all try to load again and again automatically.

I tried to reinstall firefox and all but its a weird bug.

I have screenshots if needed.

Best regards

Alex

I followed the instructions at [[Unload inactive tabs to save system memory in Firefox|https://mzl.la/3AdRbLx]] but I still occasionally see the tab refresh when I select it. I start with a search on Bing, click an article to open a tab, follow links from there, back to the first tab and select another. I repeat this until there are several tabs open. Sometimes the page refreshes when I switch back to one that I previously reviewed. Is that controlled by the option browser.tabs.unloadOnLowMemory? if so, it doesn't appear to be working. [Edit] - The last time this happened I checked my system and found 10gig used of 64gig installed. I'm using the most current version of FF 120.0.1 on Windows 11 Pro v 22H2.

Dear FF/Mozilla:

I've experienced a number of issues where I'm unable to do banking transactions using the FF browser. In one case, Wells Fargo bill pay does not work (but works fine with MS Edge); in another case, an international money link payment to a vendor in the UK would not go through using Firefox (but did first time with MS Edge). In yet another case, Firefox won't load webpage photos for items for sale on the site www.telescope.com - the page loads with descriptions but photos would not load (I just tried it and, nada). This remains the case even after my VPN is disconnected.

I've used FF for several years now without too much trouble but with this ongoing non-functionality of FF, I'm tempted to migrate to MS Edge or a browser that is supported more widely.

Any help or advice? Thanks, Blaine
