Firefox repeatedly crashes on my, multiple times a day. I'dc really like to NOT have to change my default browser to Chrome.

What happens is that Firefox freezes, and I get a white bar at the top telling me so. I get a popup box asking if I want to close Firefox or wait for it to respond. Waiting doesn't work, so I always have to close Firefox. When I reopen it, fortunately all m,y open tabs are retained, but it crashes again within minutes or seconds as soon as I click on anything.

There only thing that seems to work is a reboot of my PC. But the respite is short before Firefox crashes again.

I've disabled most plugins, but that hasn't helped. Is there a way to create an event log within Firefox that I can share with someone at Mozilla to help e debug the issue? It's got to be something local rather than Firefox itself; I can't imagine this is happening to most users.

for some weeks now, Firefox (latest, in Windows) crashes, or says 'not closed properly' and shows (usually) 12 'instances' in Task Manager when only one tab has been opened. I'm not techie, and need clear advice. Can anyone help please? Hugh, UK

Hello, Randomly but frequently enough to be annoying, Firefox freezes my entire laptop. I have windows 11. It freezes so badly that I have to hold down the on/off button until it goes off. I looked it up outside of Firefox help and, per suggestions, turned off the hardware accelerator. That seemed to work for a little while but now it's happening again with greater frequency. There doesn't seem to be any exact situation that causes it which makes it very hard to diagnose. But it's enough that I'm thinking of looking for another browser so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

We are experiencing an ongoing issue with Firefox that persists even after performing the following troubleshooting steps: - Uninstalled Firefox completely. - Removed all browser add-ons and extensions. - Reinstalled the latest version of Firefox. Is it a known issue that opening JIRA web pages immediately crashes and closes the Firefox browser on Windows 11. It never happened on Windows 10 however due to Windows 10 end of life we've been forced to upgrade at work. Now this crashes on a key webpage (we're software delevelopers). So we might have to change to Chrome which I really don't want to do. It would be great if you could find any or many crash reports I've filed and fix the issue.

Hi Mozilla I hav got a problem with Firefox on Kubuntu 24.04.3. Everytime the computer is restarted Firefox crashes the first time it's started. That's not a big problem, starting Firefox again don't take long. But the problems is exceeding. If i start Firefox by clicking a link in a mail in Thunderbird. And Firefox has not yet been started, It crashes, but now it's also invaliding the Task bar on the screen where Firefox was started. Invaliding means that I cannot start apps from that screens taskbar, and the clock has stalled, none of the tools works etc. The only possibility solution I have been able to figure out, is restart (It's like going back to Win 98). Sometimes I am able to start a app from that invalid taskbar. But it's not the one app that i clicked on. Even though I can trigger it via Thunderbird, the invaliding of the taskbar will occur after a while. And I have to restart. I am not sure if this is the right place to post. But Firefox is always involved, but maybe Thunderbird or Ubuntu was the right place? Every time Firefox crashes there is send a crash report to Mozilla, but is has been going on for a while, so i guess that nobody is looking at the crash report. If I use Chromium instead of Firefox I don't see the problem.

THIS IS NOT A WINDOWS ERROR; THIS IS A FIREFOX APPLICATION ERROR. MAYBE SOME OF YOUR FIREFOX DEVELOPER CODERS SHOULD ASSIST THE 32-BIT AND 64-BIT DEVELOPERS. OR, DUMP THE VERSION 4X CODE AND BUILD ON THE MORE STABLE 39X CODE. ALSO, DON'T BLAME WINDOWS FOR FIREFOX APPLICATION ERRORS. AND...NEVER SUGGEST A WINDOWS REINSTALL FOR FIREFOX ERRORS!!!

I've gone through the various troubleshooting options over the last month or so and Firefox is still crashing constantly for me, even in Troubleshooting mode. Every time I make Firefox full-screen, it immediately crashes and shuts down. I have restarted the computer, uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, but it still doesn't work.

Hello, I have ran into issues with the file upload window in firefox locking the program. I am not quite sure if I have tried uploading anything since the last update a few days ago, but it happens regardless of the website I use. It basically just freezes up as soon as it opens the file explorer window. I tried on chrome with no issues so it doesn't seem to be a windows thing as far as I can tell. I restarted my pc to see if that would help, but with no luck. I opened up task manager when this was happening to check what was going on and firefox seemed to be stuck using almost all the ram on my system 15.7 out of 16gb.

Anyone have this issue occurring in the last few days? Any thoughts on how to fix?

I have been getting this error for about a week - absolutelyu no changes have been made to my usual use of the PC and browser. There may have been Firefox/Windows updates installed. I'm not doing anything different to the usual work I do.

I have tried using a new Firefox profile with no cached info carried over, this doesn't solve the problem. I have no extensions or add ons. I do run Avast, but haven't had this problem before.

When I close a video site tab, Firefox freezes and becomes unresponsive. After restarting Firefox from a force quit, I sometimes see a message like: “Bookmarks may not be visible or things may not look normal. Another instance of Firefox is running.” (I don’t remember the exact wording.) In that case, my bookmarks look like they are missing. If I close Firefox again and restart it, the bookmarks reappear, but I am logged out of every site and have to add all my accounts again from the beginning.

This means I have to log back into every single account again, like YouTube and others, which is very inconvenient.

I’ve been using Firefox for over 10 years, and I’ve never experienced this problem before. It doesn’t happen all the time, but it occurs periodically — sometimes every few days, sometimes every few weeks. This never used to happen in the past.

Please, I really need help with this issue. If I back up my cookies beforehand, would restoring them after such a crash bring everything back to normal?
