A friendly hello to whomever is kind enough to read this! Your help is greatly appreciated!

The latest update caused an edit I made to my Profile's userChrome.css file to be nullified. Now there's huge bar where the tabs toolbar used to be, and apparently it's not the title bar, as when I activate the title bar in "Customize Toolbar," this huge gets replaced by the actual toolbar.

I've attached my css code below for inspection. It used to work perfectly, but after the last update (133.0) it's no longer working. What can I do to fix this and have it like I had it prior to the latest update (133.0)?

userChrome.css File: `#main-window[tabsintitlebar="true"]:not([extradragspace="true"]) #TabsToolbar > .toolbar-items {

 opacity: 0;
 pointer-events: none;

}

  1. main-window:not([tabsintitlebar="true"]) #TabsToolbar {
   visibility: collapse !important;

}

  1. main-window[tabsintitlebar="true"]:not([extradragspace="true"]) #TabsToolbar .titlebar-spacer {
       border-inline-end: none;

}

/* Adding empty space for buttons */

  1. nav-bar {

margin-right:140px; }

/* 15px for dragging whole window by mouse*/

  1. titlebar {

appearance: none !important; height: 15px; }

/* Fix for main menu calling by Alt button */

  1. titlebar > #toolbar-menubar {

margin-top: 10px; }

/* Move minimize/restore/close buttons to empty space */

  1. TabsToolbar > .titlebar-buttonbox-container {

display: block; position: absolute; top: 17px; right: 1px; }

  1. sidebar-box {
 min-width: 250px !important;

}`

Heads up for custom installs: running tbird and firefox on linux, I install both in my home directory for my own ease of updates and portability. I get releases from https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/ in tarball formats which install in 30 seconds. I recently ran into a problem which I've not seen before. recent d/l of firefox-136.0.tar.xz for linux-x86_64. It crashed immediately with err 126. The ff.exe and ff.bin files were for ARM arch. This wasn't easy to locate and I think it was caught but anyone still headscratching may want to see if this is an issue - I had a good 136 on a laptop and overwrote bad install on desktop.

I tried to open Firefox and a message appeared: "Couldn't load XPCOM". I uninstalled the program with Revo Uninstaller Pro and downloaded the latest version. I selected Run as Administrator but there is a message that says "Windows cannot have access to the selected device, path or file. Maybe you don't have access rights". However, I do have access rights. I have checked it multiple times. How can I install Firefox and see it work properly? Thanks

Please indulge this silly question. What possible benefit is there for Mozilla continuing to list this page with the very first, oldest Firefox release at the the top, requiring the user, every time they visit, to scroll to the middle of the page to search out the current latest version instead of having the chronological order from latest to oldest instead?

Hi, using Mac OS. Have tried the about:config set the auto update configs to false, still it keeps prompting every day or a few hours . There is also a timer setting. They dont seem to work, and these update notifications are very irritating, keep popping up every 8 hours or so.

Not sure the necessity for these incessive updates every day or hours, it uses a lot of system resources and hdd space, can Firefox put back the option when we can just tick 'update only when we want them' , in these, no background timer required they use system resources and there are many of us do not want them.

Earlier today I was trying to watch Prime video and I kept getting an error saying that Firefox wasn't updated (which it was). I looked up some solutions, one of which suggested turning the DRM setting off and then back on. That was a mistake, because after that, any time I opened Prime or netflix, the error I got was "Firefox is installing components needed to play the audio or video on this page. Please try again later. "

Then, I looked that up and found out that my Widevine was just not installing. So, I found an alternative way to manually install it, which shows that it is installed in the Add-ons Manager, but I keep getting that error and nothing works. Prior to this my Netflix was still fine and working.

I've tried a few other things including closing firefox, refreshing firefox from the troubleshoot settings, and restarting my computer.

I am out of ideas, and I wanted to see if anyone can help me before I have to jump ship to another browser.

Hi All, Apologies if I've missed something, but I can't find an answer anywhere. I've got a fresh install of Firefox version 133 running on Windows 10, and I can't seem to install any add-ons. When I click the install button from the add-on's page, it just sits there with the loading animation and seemingly does nothing for several minutes. Attempting to right-click on the download button, "save link as", and hitting "install add-on from file" using that saved link as another user suggested from a similar problem does nothing at all; there's no feedback whatsoever. The add-on I've been trying to install is U-Block Origin, but I've tried this with other add-ons to the same results. The only other thing I've tried is installing one of the recommended add-ons from the add-on page directly, Privacy Badger specifically. This causes an actual window to pop up telling me Firefox is verifying the add-on, but nothing happens past this point. It just sits there, eternally attempting to verify the add-on with no progress ever made, and no error message ever spitting out. I haven't found anyone else with this exact problem. Hopefully I'm missing something obvious and I can feel really silly about the whole thing soon. Thanks much!

Thank you for considering a new feature. However, this feature of a new sidebar is in the way on my screen. I have it setup for use in a very specific way. Adding a sidebar that I cannot turn off without going into "about:config" is a very bad idea. It made a mess of my space. Yes, even that 1/2 inch of space messed up my spacing. Please ask in the future before making any changes that alter the size and width of my screen space. It's already jammed for work.

I saw an option for donations here. If you ask before making anything that alters the screen layout, I'd be willing to make a donation. But this was just upsetting and has stolen over 20 minutes of my work day. I don't have that kind of time, especially with my colleague out on medical leave for possibly months.

I want to update Firefox but also version Firefox-134 causes the same problem as all previous versions newer than Firefox-95: GUI is not started in my Linux system despite all the requirements noted on the Mozilla pages with the release are satisfied. Basing on that I have read and experimented as well as on response to my bug report, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1938497 I suppose that the new versions of Firefox are not able to start GUI using libGL backend GLX and they require LibGL backend EGL only. This requires libEGL version and other associated libraries that are present only in newest versions of Linux distributions like Fedora-41. These new versions are for new hardware and it is pointless to install them on older hardware because they would work probably ineffectively and cause problems. Linux is very customizable and users introduce adjustments and install software created by themselves, for years. That is why an update to radically new version of the Linux distribution is justified after buying a new computer. This would be required for making the Firefox-134 binary provided to run with GUI as well as for possible compiling it from source.

That is why I would like to ask for consideretion of submitting a new version of Firefox binary statically linked (at least the libraries that are required for GUI) so that it will work with GUI on older Linux systems obeying the requirements noted on mozilla pages with Firefox releases, assuming 4-8 GB RAM is available.

In the beginning of January 2025 I have had to set a virtual machine on my host Fedora 20 with Live-Fedora-41 that contained Firefox-131 upadted subsequently to Firefox-134. This way I can use Firefox-134 but having 8 GB RAM that is maximal value of RAM allowed by my computer I had to declare only 4 GB for the virtual machine to enable host Fedora-20 to work normally. However, the 4 GB of RAM is actually a minimum required for effective using of the new versions of Firefox and additionaly, 20 GB of disk space for the virtual machine had to be reserved.

This solution is far not optimal, the VM is mainly for test purposes. Therefore I remain my suggestion noted to above.

I kindly ask all NOT to place here irrelevant, nontechnical comments like the three below from one user; they have their place in general social media.

Twice now in the past couple of months this has happened to me:

Restart to Keep Using Firefox

An update to Firefox started in the background. You’ll need to restart to finish the update.

Your windows and tabs will be quickly restored, but private ones will not.

EVEN THOUGH in my Firefox settings this is set to no automatic updates.

What is happening?? How do I turn this off! This seems like a virus? Please advise.
