When searching for any type of URL or page on Firefox, unexpected things have been occurring. The most common action is that the Recent Browsing page opens up instead of the page I was seeking. I can get to that page by clicking the tab, but it obviously should not be happening. Sometimes, I only see a completely blank page in white or gray. Again, I can get to the page by clicking the tab. A momentary blink occurs regularly when going to a new page.

I have cleaned up any unused or unimportant extensions and add-ons, since that was suggested as one cause. So far I have not taken a suggestion to clear all cookies and cache because of all the beneficial browsing that deletes. I have also not totally deleted the Firefox app because I am not sure a reinstall of all of my bookmarks, the homescreen with my 32 preset URLs, etc. will come back.

So I am looking for advice on what steps I should take to resolve this, in order of first taking the least destructive and problematic actions. Thanks, Joe

There is seriously something wrong with the way Firefox operates. There is nothing wrong with the following site so why am I seeing this message?

firefox on windows 11, keeps blocking my camera and Microphone despite express permissions to allow, i look in permissions and the site is clearly marked to allow camera, but when i goto sitye, no camera or mic is allowed until i delete the permission that is supposed to allow it.

I allow my camera and mic.

I return to the site and it tells me camera and microphone blocked.

I goto0 settings>Permissions>Camera

It clearly states that the website is allowed to use the devices, but when on the website the devbices are blocked. Whats messed up is, if i delete your settings>Permissions>Camera, it allows me to use my camera and mic, until i refresh the webpage and its blocked again.

This makes zero sense and is every reason for me not to use Mozille Firefox as a browser at all.

I have been unable to update Firefox past 132.0.2; every time I download an update and install/restart, all tabs automatically crash upon loading regardless of the website. I can load local pages like settings or about:config, but anything that actually uses the internet goes straight to crashing (including sites as simple as google.com). I have tried restarting in Troubleshooting mode to no avail. There are no crash reports when I pull up about:crashes, so unable to post IDs here.

It is not an internet access problem (I am [unfortunately] filling out this form from Edge), and with reversion to 132.0.2 everything moves along hunky-dory. I am also able to use the newest version of Firefox on all of my work devices, so it appears to be something in particular with my person PC. Problem occurred with both Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Any help would be much appreciated- I didn't mind an older version of Firefox that worked, but there have been some MFA logons that refuse to go load in v132 so it's becoming something I'm less able to ignore now. TIA

Latest Stable Firefox, windows, over 4000 tabs. Overall Firefox works great for me. but when I restart it to install the latest versions etc, it only restores one active/loaded tab per window. Rest are restored, but in a closed/unloaded state. I usually have 5-20 open tabs per window, and hundreds more unloaded, it's how I work. How on earth can I get it to restore all the open/loaded tabs as they were, not in the unloaded state they default to?

Issue still occurs in a new install with no addons, default settings, under 30 tabs etc. Ditto Win 10 or 11.

Also, how on earth can I get official Mozzilla pages to use Dark Mode??

I run Firefox on a retro Linux system that is currently running a personal "Frankenbuntu". Basically, Kubuntu 14.04 LTS with lots of components updated either "in-tree" or via a pkgsrc-like collection of "ports" installed under /opt/local that includes GTk3, Mesa, VAAPI plugins etc. I use that tree with a combination of built-in rpath settings (for apps installed under /opt/local) and wrapper scripts setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH, so as to maintain the possibility to run system apps independently, in particular while booting. (Sounds complicated, but it's also a rewarding fun project for me, allowing me to keep using an old and familiar DE with modern features on 2017 hardware,)

I have never yet dared to update my glibc from the stock 2.19, so with every Firefox update I fear to run into problems with that. I do have a 2.27 build but that is installed in another parallel prefix (/opt/glibc/2) because one cannot simply use LD_LIBRARY_PATH to use a newer glibc (I think because the ELF interpreter, ld-linux.so, has to match).

I already use patchelf with success to change the ELF interpreter to the 2.27 one, for instance with Ferdium, a Node/Electron application. This works and as far as I can tell, it will load all Mesa and DRI components from my /opt/local tree so hw-accelerated video works as it should.

The DRI module I actually need (iHD) does load but I still get the GFX abnormal shutdown error. I've tried the interpreter change in other applications using libva and don't see the issue.

Any idea why this is, and what can be done to prevent this, beyond actually updating my system glibc? I'd have no problems disabling sandboxing.

I updated to Firefox v155 today and noticed immediately that video is washed out. Please see attached image. Firefox is on the left and Safari is on the right. I haven't updated my laptop yet and video looks 100x better.

How can I change preferred theme from light to dark with resist fingerprinting enabled? I already tried to change "layout.css.prefers-color-scheme.content-override" to 2, but this did not help.

I'm on 156.0b1 (64-bit). Since the last update the data that should appear on https://www2.commsec.com.au/portfolio/ no longer appears. The page works fine on Edge, Safari.

The rest of this site all works perfectly - it is only the data missing which is specific to my Commsec account holdings..

I can't say for certain that it was absolutely the update that's the cause - beyond my skill level - but the problem commenced from that time

Very many news agencies now require paid subscription to read their articles. I don't want to see those companies lead in for articles in my Firefox home page.

Google news home page (news.google.com/home) has an option and others by clicking the three dots ... to the right of article title lead in. There are multiple choices offered among those options is: HIDE ALL STORIES FROM ------ (it doesn't name the news agency because it is to the right of that SPECIFIC article). Presto no more show up in news.google.com/home.

Now that more and more news vendors require paid subscriptions to read even their first article it is a great feature I have used for years on news.google.com/home. But now I am regularly using Firefox home page and sure miss that feature.

Finally I wish I could afford to pay for so many and truly there are now many require paid subscription to read even the first article. Others let you read one.

Anyway thank you for your consideration. I think it provides a competitive edge if not overwhelmingly complicated to enact.

Since a few days the free VPN in Firefox doesn't work anymore. When I activate it and try to load a website, i get the message: Connection with VPN failed. Try again in a few minutes. It also says, that my connection is possibly not private and that an app can possibly see my data traffic. The VPN always used to work fine, and I didn't change anything.

I've been relying on backup/recovery from backup because firefox now deletes my profile/session every time it does a meaningful update (several times a month).

Now, one stupid/broken thing is that I have to re-enable backup every time I restore my profile/session (this setting, backup ON, should be included in the profile/session!).

The second broken thing is that now I can't re-enable backup today, after yesterday's update.

I can fakely turn backup ON, but when I click "backup now", I always get "Hmm, there was a problem backing up. Learn more"

Learn more has no useful information. Waiting a few minutes, like it suggests, does nothing. Now, I'm going to get my profile deleted the next time firefox updates, and I won't even be able to restore from backup.

Finally, whoever's in charge of this feature needs to learn English. Log in is a verb, login is a noun and an adjective. Similarly, back up is a verb, backup is a noun and and adjective. You can't "backup" your profile. You BACK UP your profile. A backup is a noun. You can't do nouns. You do verbs. I back up my profile. I back up (verb) the backup (noun) in a backup (adjective) file.

if I try to open an uploaded project, Firefox shows me just the "Loading"-Animation. This war reproduced on several PC's, using a clean profile and the Error-Modus (without Addons). In Firefox fpr MacOS it works.

Knows anybody the problem or can help fix it??

For the past few weeks, I have been having problems playing certain Facebook videos. It seems to only happen when I try to play a video that was recorded live. I have tried clearing the cache, I've tried a private window, and I've tried safe mode. I still can't get the video to play. However, when I copy and paste the url to Safari, it works fine. I have been able to play "live" videos while they are actually "live"; it's just that they will not load when I try to play them later. I don't have any problems playing videos which have been uploaded to Facebook; only those which were recorded live. The videos just show a circle in the middle as if they are trying to load but nothing else happens. The length of the video does not matter; it happens with short videos as well as long ones. The screenshot image (of a random "live" video I found) I am uploading shows a partial black circle in the center, which is a spinning circle in realtime. I have circled it in red.

Running Windows 11. Firefox was running at the time the hard drive crashed. When installing FF on the new drive, found the last profile folder set to parent.lock. Since it's the entire folder, I can't see which of the files in the profile were locked. I have a backup of two weeks prior (separate issue -- I was unaware my nightly backups weren't working for two weeks), but I'd like to recover the bookmark and password changes in that time.

Is there a way to get into the folder, or do I just need to accept the loss and go with the previous backup?
